The air in the subterranean trench dropped to near freezing temperatures. Heavy violet mist clung to the cavern floor, swirling around piles of pulverized beast bones and jagged void crystals.

Ethan descended the final stone incline, his boots making no sound against the slick rock. The Abyssal Cleaver rested lightly across his shoulder, its jagged black edge thrumming with dark energy.

At the center of the subterranean chamber stood an ancient, cracked altar surrounded by a glowing ritual circle. Hovering above the stone dias was the source of the dungeon’s spatial distortion: a colossal, pulsating purple core.

Guarding it was a creature born of nightmares.

[BOSS ENTITY: Mutated Void Dread-Stalker]

Classification: Rank E+ (Zone Boss)

Level: 10

HP: 3,800 / 3,800

Mana: 1,200 / 1,200

Key Traits: Shadow Blink, Void Blade Tendrils, Acidic Spittle

Vulnerability: Primary mana nexus located inside its open chest cavity.

The beast stood over ten feet tall, its mantis-like form encased in thick, pitch black armor plates that absorbed all ambient light. Four elongated, razor sharp scythe limbs twitched violently, dripping with purple corrosive fluid that hissed against the stone floor. Two bulbous crimson eyes locked onto Ethan with predatory fury.

SKRRRRRR-KAAAK!

The Dread-Stalker screeched, an ear splitting frequency that caused the rock walls to fracture.

In a blink, the beast vanished.

Shadow Blink.

Ethan did not flinch. His Sovereign's Sight perceived the subtle ripple in the dimensional fabric behind him a split second before the strike landed.

SWOOSH!

A scythe blade capable of cleaving an armored personnel carrier whistling down toward Ethan’s neck.

Ethan dropped into a low crouch, pivoting on his left heel as the blade sliced through the empty space above his head, shattering the stone wall behind him into rubble. Without breaking momentum, Ethan lunged upward, driving the two hundred pound Abyssal Cleaver into the monster’s lower flank.

CLANG!

Sparks erupted across the cavern. The void-bone steel struck the beast's hardened carapace with crushing impact, leaving a massive dent and forcing the monster back several steps.

GROOOOWL!

Enraged, the Dread Stalker unleashed a rapid frenzy of slashes. Four scythe limbs blurred into a storm of death, striking with enough speed to overwhelm an entire vanguard raid squad.

Ethan shifted his grip, meeting every strike head on.

CLANG! CLANG! BOOM!

Shockwaves of black and purple mana blasted outward with every parry. Ethan’s newly enhanced 72 points of raw Strength and 54 points of Agility allowed him to match the Rank E+ boss blow for blow, his stance unyielding.

"Is that all?" Ethan muttered coldly.

"Devourer's Grasp + Corrosive Abyssal Coating!"

A roaring shroud of pitch-black, acidic mana encased the greatsword. Ethan stepped inside the monster’s guard, executing a vicious upward slash.

CRACK-SHRRRP!

The blade bit deep through the Dread-Stalker’s left scythe arm, cleanly severing the heavy limb at the joint. Black blood sprayed across the altar as the severed blade slammed heavily into the dirt.

SKREEEEE!

The boss shrieked in agony, frantically opening its chest plates to unleash a high-density beam of concentrated void energy.

The mana nexus is exposed.

Ethan didn't give the creature the chance to fire. He channeled the full force of his Monarch mana into his legs and leaped forward like an arrow released from a siege bow.

"Sovereign Cleave!"

Ethan brought the massive greatsword straight down into the glowing red nexus inside the monster's open chest.

BOOOOOOOM!

The Abyssal Cleaver drove straight through the beast’s core, impaling the ten-foot monstrosity to the altar floor. The dark corrosive flame ignited the monster's insides, incinerating its vital organs in an instant.

The Dread-Stalker shuddered violently before collapsing into total stillness.
