Witnessing the nurse shake her head and sigh, Ethan's heart pounded. However, upon hearing Tazanna's situation wasn't too dire, he breathed a small sigh of relief.

Although they had just met and Tazanna had caused him to be misunderstood and beaten by thugs, Ethan couldn't help but hope she would pull through this ordeal as he wanted to ask more about her condition.

A group of bodyguards in black vests quickly approached the operating room. Leading them was a middle-aged man with a stern, cold expression.

Seeing these imposing individuals rush in, Ethan couldn't help but worry about their identities. However, it didn't take long for the angry voice of the leading man to address the two bodyguards next to him.

"What on earth happened? Why was my daughter stabbed and hospitalized?"

The man's voice wasn't loud but carried an authority that left no room for defiance, startling the two bodyguards. One of them hurriedly began to explain.

"Boss, the situation was completely unexpected. We never thought anyone would dare to attack the young lady. We..."

Before the bodyguard could finish, the middle-aged man cut him off with a cold stare.

"I didn't ask for an explanation. I just want to know who did this. And why did they dare to attack my daughter?"

Witnessing the middle-aged man's menacing gaze that seemed to want to devour someone, the bodyguard was genuinely scared, his pupils involuntarily contracting.

The bodyguard beside him seemed to notice something, pointing at Ethan and exclaiming in surprise: "Boss, it's him!"

The middle-aged man didn't even have time to listen to the bodyguard's following words. His eyes had already become cold and ruthless as they locked onto Ethan.

Under the direct stare of the man, Ethan felt as if the blood in his veins had frozen. Despite the chilly night at the hospital, he was drenched in a cold sweat.

"Boss, he's the one who was with the young miss and brought her to the hospital!"

"Uh-huh!"

Seeing the middle-aged man's gaze on Ethan, the bodyguard was afraid the man would misunderstand, so he hastily explained. The man then withdrew his intimidating gaze, uttering a soft sound of acknowledgment.

"So, you're the one who brought my daughter to the hospital?"

Although Ethan knew this man was not a good person, he politely nodded and replied: "Yes, sir! I'm the one who brought your daughter to the hospital!"

"And what is your relationship with my daughter?"

"Well... we don't have a relationship, we just happened to meet on the street!"

"Is that so?"

Continuously being questioned by the middle-aged man felt like an interrogation, and Ethan's expression became somewhat uncomfortable. One of the two bodyguards beside the man whispered something into his ear.

After a moment, the tension on the man's face eased, and he offered a warm smile, approaching Ethan: "I apologize for my rudeness just now. I was overly worried about my daughter and didn't mean disrespect. Please forgive me!"

If Ethan hadn't seen the man's fierce expression earlier, he would've thought the man was a kind and approachable person upon seeing his current smile. However, having seen the man's true face, Ethan remained silent. His gaze lingered momentarily before he tried to find an excuse to leave.

But the operating room door opened at that moment, and all the surgeons left. Ethan's steps involuntarily halted. The middle-aged man, anxious, approached a surgeon, grabbing his arm and asking with concern: "Doctor, how's my daughter? Is she in any danger?"

Initially, the doctor was unhappy about being pulled by someone after just finishing surgery. But upon seeing the middle-aged man's face, he became slightly frightened and quickly showed respect, bowing his head and speaking.

"Mr. Smith, your daughter is alright, and we have successfully performed the surgery on her. However, her situation is somewhat complicated, so family members are temporarily prohibited from visiting. Please understand our hospital's position. Once we have specific results, we will report back to you!"

Upon hearing the doctor's words, the middle-aged man's movements paused. He then took a ten-million-dollar check from his pocket and handed it to the doctor.

"Here is a ten-million-dollar check. You and your team can take it as a bonus. As long as you can save my daughter safely, this amount is just the beginning, and I will reward you even more!"

Seeing the large sum of money, the doctor hesitated before pushing the check back to the middle-aged man and shaking his head.

"Mr. Smith, we know you are wealthy, but this is our responsibility, and we cannot accept your money! Please excuse us!"

After saying this, the doctor tried to leave, but the middle-aged man firmly stuffed the check into the doctor's pocket. He then patted the doctor's shoulder and smiled.

"Don't worry! This is a reward I'm giving to you all. Even your director wouldn't dare to say a word. Besides, I still need you to care for my daughter's health. This little amount of money is nothing!"

The middle-aged man was so insistent that the doctor had no choice but to accept the check. He then bowed slightly to the man and expressed his gratitude.

"Thank you, Mr. Smith, for your generosity towards our medical team! However, I will not keep this money for myself. Instead, I will use it for the hospital's charity fund. I hope you won't object!"

Hearing the doctor's words, the middle-aged man didn't get angry and laughed heartily.

"Ha ha ha, how could I object to that? I should be thank your hospital instead!"

Seeing the middle-aged man agree to his request, the doctor smiled contentedly and left with his medical team.

Ethan, who had witnessed everything, had a rare glint in his eyes.

'Not everyone in this world is evil!'

However, as soon as this thought appeared, a deep voice made his spirit return to normal.

"Young man, I don't know why you saved my daughter, and I don't know your purpose in approaching her. But let me tell you, Wynstan Smith's daughter is not so easily oppressed. I will not let you off if I find out you have other intentions!"
