Mike blinked repeatedly as he waited for something magical to happen, but all he heard was his ragged breathing and beating heart.

“System?” He called out gingerly and the machine chimed in response.

[Yes…Micheal]

“What just happened?” He asked as he checked his reflection for any changes that had been done on his body, but he saw none.

[The wealth system have been activated Micheal, upon your request…]

“Ok…what now?” He asked as he dapped his face in water.

[Now, you will be given tasks, in order to earn gold coins, to be changed into money or be able to buy wishes…]

“Gold coins? Mike asked tentatively, for he haven’t heard anything like that before, and in reply the mechanical screen in his vision displayed the characters…

[The Austra wealth system….Host details…]

[ Name: Micheal Robinson…]

[Age: 26 years…]

[Height….6.0 feet tall…]

[Weight….80lbs….]

[Skin complexion….White]

[System: Activated….Reborn]

[Coins: 0…]

[Level: 1.]

[Task: Rent an apartment space]

[Reward: 100 coins]

“Hundred coins?” Mike asked breathlessly as he got out of his pajamas, into a white T shirt with jeans, and the machine chimed in reply.

[Yes Micheal…100 coins with a coin equivalent to a million of your currency—]

“A million dollars?!” Mike bellowed in surprise and almost stumbled on his feet as he tried to buckle up his belt, “Then…that will be a 100 million dollars?!”

[Yes Micheal….all to be spent before you will be able to get any more coins or it will be all tasks…and no coins..]

“What?! To spend it all immediately?!” Mike snickered happily, “sweet!”

[Yes, but you must first do the task that the system organizes for you…]

[The tasks are being created to propel you into greater heights and help you achieve your greatest desire…]

“My greatest desire?” Mike breathed, but he didn’t have to wonder about it for long with his mind only centered on one thing…Bio-tech group and what should have been his. With his mind made up, he raised his head firmly and asked sternly;

“What is my first task?”

[To rent a studio apartment…] the machine chimed in reply, with the characters static in his vision.

“Oh….Erm..” he cleared his throat briefly and ask calmly, “Are there no other simple task I can do now? Because my credit card is being disconnected and I’m down to my last fifteen hundred.”

He stood for a minute, waiting for a reply, but got none, and him being a smart guy that he was, understood the silence and picked up his apartment keys, gave his mouth one last rinse with water, checked his reflection and exited the building.

*****************************************

“Hello Mr Anderson…my name is Micheal, apart from this property, are there any other properties you will like to show me?”

“Hello Mr Micheal” The chubby black man, who was about having his lunch greeted, as he stood up with his hands outstretched for a handshake, “I have been waiting for you…please forgive this mess, I couldn’t wait for I haven’t eaten all day.” And pointed at his food.

“No it’s fine Mr Anderson” Mike replied and dismissed his pleading with a wave of his hand, then he asked, as he turned around, his eyes roving around the hall.

“Is this all what you have?”

“For the price…yes Mr Micheal.”

Mike inhaled deeply and gave the hall a sweeping look once more, trying to be positive, be hopeful that he was doing the right thing…that he is not foolishly following the instructions of a machine in his head, claiming to be Austra, the universal system, and the money he was supposed to use as sustenance until he finds a way forward, he is using it to rent a hall that he has no use for.

But on the second hand, he was supposed to be dead, after being beaten to a pulp by Mr Stewart goons, just outside the company, and here he was, buying an apartment…

Maybe there is some truth in what is happening….maybe he should trust his guts and his guts is encouraging him to pay for the damn apartment.

Well…it’s all or nothing, he reasoned and said loudly, “this will do. Do you mind cash payment?”

“Oh..no we don’t Mr Micheal.” Mr Anderson replied as he bent over to fetch the keys from his suitcase and handed it to him the same time Mike counted the cash and passed it to him.

“Thank you Mr Anderson” Mike said with a small smile on his lips and watched with uncertainty as the old man departed, leaving him alone with his thoughts in the empty studio apartment that he had just purchased.

“Now what?” He asked loudly and got no reply. He stared in space momentarily, wondering if he had just gotten scammed and then he saw it…the static film attached to his eyes with the words…

[The Austra wealth system…]

[Host: Micheal Robinson]

[Status: Task completed…]

[ Coins: 100 coins…]

[Say 1. to change coins to Money…Say 2. to change it for benefits.]

Mike smacked his lips eagerly, for he will soon be rich, but he was also curious of what the ‘benefit’ entails, so in a calm voice, he said, “Two.”

[Coins to benefits…]

[20 coins for healing]

[30 coins for teleportation]

[20 coins for Strength]

[20 coins for Stamina]

“Sweet!” Mike breathed happily, “I will come back to you later, but first, I will need my 100 coins in dollars, Austra.”

Austra Headquarters —Mike’s Office.Mike’s phone buzzed on his desk with Gregory Lawson’s name flashing on the screen. A wide grin spread across Mike’s face as he answered and placed it on speaker.“Gregory. Tell me you are calling with good news about our digital ghost.”Gregory’s rich laugh boomed through the office. “Patience, Mike. Even ghosts take time to materialize. I am on it. No, I am calling because I just had the most entertaining meeting of my entire career.”“Oh?” Mike leaned back and propped his feet on his desk. “Do tell.”“You will not believe who just showed up at Arthur Ginger’s office, with tails between their legs, begging for an audience.”Mike’s smile widened. “No.”“Yes,” Gregory confirmed with glee. “Charles Stewart and his attack dog, Simeon. I wish you could have seen it, Mike. The sheer, unadulterated desperation. Stewart actually tried to pitch an alliance. ‘For old times’ sake.’”Mike burst out laughing. “He did not! What did Ginger say?”“He gave him ten

Sawdust Industries - Arthur Ginger’s Office. The reception area of Sawdust Industries was going according to its name…rustic, solid and functional, with the rich scent of polished wood and parchment hanging in the air. It was a stark contrast to the cold glass and steel of Bio- tech or Austra.Charles Stewart stood there impatiently, feeling every ounce of that contrast, every second of the humiliating silence as the receptionist made them wait. Simeon stood beside him, like a statue with tension and worry etched on his face. Finally, the woman nodded. “Mr. Ginger will see you now.”Ginger’s office was an enormous space adorned with bookshelves of rare timber and framed blueprints of historical buildings. But Stewart’s eyes weren’t on the decorations. They were locked on the two men seated in the deep leather armchairs opposite Ginger’s desk.Arthur Ginger sat behind the desk, like a king in a throne room. And lounging casually in one of the chairs, swirling a glass of bourbon, was Gr

Austra Headquarters - Executive Conference Room. The mood in Austra’s conference room was a huge contrast from the funeral atmosphere at Bio-tech. Sunlight streamed through the floor to ceiling windows, shining on a table where Mike, Mr Austin, Mr Liam and a few other core investors sat, not in crisis, but in confident anticipation.“The momentum is undeniable,” Mr Liam was saying, with a satisfied smile on his face. “Every headline, every ticker symbol, is telling the same story…Austra is the future. Bio-tech is the past.”Mr Austin nodded. “The past has a nasty habit of fighting back, Liam. We have all seen it before. Stewart won’t go quietly, you know that.”Mike leaned back in his chair and folded his fingers together. “He does not have to go quietly. He just has to go.”The door to the conference room burst open and Carter stood there, breathless with a tablet clutched in his hand. His usual happy composure was shattered and it’s being replaced by pure unadulterated shock.“Sir,”

The air was thick with the scent of expensive perfume, bland coffee and pure fear.Charles Stewart stood at the head of the table, his knuckles white as he gripped the table, trying to look unshaken in the face of the storm.“Gentlemen, ladies, I assure you,” he began, with his voice an imitation of its former boom. “This is a temporary setback. A blip. Robinson’s alliance with Lawson is a facade built on sand. The SEC is already launching a full investigation into his finances. His house of cards will collapse by the end of the week.”A silver haired investor called Pierce, his face etched with skepticism, didn’t bother to hide his disgust. “A blip, Charles? My portfolio has lost eighteen percent of its value since this ‘blip’ began. The market isn’t r

Here, the air was cool and buzzed with the quiet energy of upcoming victory. The huge screen displayed a complex drawing of Bio - tech’s stock holdings. Mike sat at the head of the table, like a king in his court. To his right was Gregory Lawson, his new ally, who was looking more relaxed and ruthless than Mike had ever seen him. To his left was Mr Ginger, owner of sawdust industries…a man who had made his fortune in lumber and construction, and harbored a legendary, decades old grudge against Charles Stewart.“The problem is not buying the shares,” Mike said. “The problem is buying them quietly. Stewart’s inner circle is panicked. They are watching every trade, every movement. If they see combined buy-up of their stock, they will administer poison pill protocols before we can blink.”Mr Ginger chuckled.
