REBORN HERO

"Hurry the fuck up, loser!" A boy shouted from behind, and the rest of the people laughed uncontrollably after. Students could be seen arranged in a straight line as they moved forward slowly to get their dinner.

Draken, a 16 years old boy who lost everything during the monster invasion. His whole family died during the vicious monster attack.

No one knew how the monsters managed to get on earth, some said they came in through a rift that led to the underworld, some said they came in through a portal malfunction, but ever since the monsters came to earth, earth hasn't been the same.

The monsters quickly began to wreak havoc on earth. The human race tried fighting back, but were quick to realize that their guns, tanks, and bazooka were useless against the vicious monsters. The monsters wielded great powers that surpassed the human's.

During the war, 13 individuals were somehow able to tap into their magical core and awaken special powerful abilities. The 13 individuals were called the 13 awakeners.

Awakening great powers, they were able to teach the rest of the survivors how to tap into their core and also awaken their talents. With the human race now being able to use special abilities, they fought back and sent thr monsters back to whence they came from.

Ever since then, the world has now treated those that awakened weak talents like trash, and the strong ruled.

Draken, on the day of his awakening, he was only able to awaken a useless ability that everyone deemed weak. An ability that detects other people's ability. Such ability would only be useless during battle and won't be able to protect him from danger.

Since he was only able to awaken a weak and useless talent, Draken was looked down upon and bullied by his peers. Everyone treated him like trash, and day by day he would always wish for death.

Finally, it was Draken's turn to receive his meal. The teacher distributing it glanced at Draken with a look of disdain before sharing the food in half and giving Draken just a piece of it.

"But sir, this isn't what you have been giving others." Draken complained in a timid tone while trying his best to avoid eye contact with the teacher.

"Are you the one to tell me what to give you?!" The plump-looking teacher snapped, causing Draken to flinch in fear.

"You think I will serve you the same quantity of food with the rest of the students? You are just a waste of space and resources, Draken Sage, I don't know why the government allowed such trash in here!" The teacher kept on spitting hateful words which pierced Draken like a knife in his heart.

Draken had no choice than to bury his head in the ground and walk away with his food tray. His head facing the food tray as he glanced at the single mould of bread and watery soup in his tray.

PAH!

Out of nowhere, someone slapped the tray out of Draken's hand, causing the tray and the whole contents to spill all over the floor.

"Oh, no." Draken murmured, falling down on his knees and attempting to pick up the bread at least, but the same student stepped on it and crushed it to dust.

"Oops, sorry, trash." The boy mocked and his minions chimed in with laughter. Draken lifted his head to see the individual that just ruined the meal that wasn't even enough.

The student had long orange hair that touched his shoulder, his shoulders were broad and his muscles were bulky. His name was Matthew Barlow. The academy's terror and ruler of the midnight gang that bullies the weak.

"Don't worry about it, man, I wasn't looking." Draken uttered, lifting his body off the floor and pushing his eye glasses back up since they slipped down. Draken looked too young for his age. He had brown curly hair that covered his forehead and almost covered his eyes, his body was skinny and feeble, making it easy to oppress him.

"You are right, trash, you weren't looking, and now you spilled this damn soup all over my uniform!" Matthew voiced while Draken stood there with his whole body shivering in fear.

"You will pay for messing up my uniform.”

Saying those words, Matthew pulled his arm backwards, punching it out towards Draken's jaw.

POW!

The punch connected cleanly to Draken's jaw, lifting him off the floor and sending him sliding backwards until his body hit the wall. Blood trickled down Draken's face as he picked up his glasses from the floor.

"Get up,trash!" A student standing where Draken crashed lifted him and pushed him back to where Matthew and his minions were.

"Hold him down boys," Matthew signaled his two huge minions, and they swiftly grabbed both of Draken's arms and prevented him from moving.

Standing in front of Draken, Matthew swung out another punch that hit Draken right in his stomach and made him cough up blood.

POW! POW! POW! POW!

Punch after punch hitting Draken in critical areas and his whole face and white uniform were now covered in blood.

"Let's go guys," Matthew sounded, kicking Draken on the head before walking away with his minions. Draken laid there on the floor, wishing for death to take him away right now.

It wasn't in Draken's intention to come to the academy, it was the rule of the government that stated everybody attaining the age of 16 should attend the "Talent Academy" for 4 years so they can master their talents fully.

Draken has only spent 6 months in the academy, and every single day there was a living hell. The only person who treated Draken equally and like a son was the late Master Jang. Master Jang was indeed one of the strongest Talent users back then, but died due to old age.

On his dying bed, he gave Draken a small black round-like object, saying the object would only activate when Draken was ready.

For months, Draken has been trying to see just what it was, but to no avail. The damn object still remained normal, so he just left it in his pocket most times.

'If I am not wanted in this world, then I guess I should leave,' Draken pondered as he dragged himself to the academy's rooftop.

It took him nothing less than 30 minutes before finally climbing the stairs and standing at the edge of the roof. The academy was a Nine storey building and Draken stood on the top, the wind blowing his brown curly hair and bloody uniform.

Tears streamed down his cheek as he thought about his whole meaningless life. “I'm sorry Mom, I couldn't be the hero who you wanted me to be. Maybe in another life, I might just fulfill that dream.”

Draken closed his eyes and stretched both arms sideways like a bird about to take off.

Taking a deep breath in, Draken took a step forward and was now away from the roof and falling to the floor.
