Matthew received the Presidential Suite from Louise. A room with a lovely ocean view from the side of the glass window, which Louise requested the housekeeping staff to leave open after the cleaning.
Matthew was surprised by the opulence of the residence Louise had given him. There were plenty of bottles of wine, snacks, and fresh fruit on the dining table in the kitchen, which was one of the suite's many luxurious features.
"You are trying to spoil me with these facilities."
"The service you did for me was worthwhile. Enjoy tonight, and I'll take you hunting for an apartment tomorrow."
"Thank you very much."
"But Rayn, don't you want to retake your business from the Floss family and establish your rightful ownership of the company and the home they currently control? "
Thomas nodded. Without a doubt, he meant to keep Dominic Rayn's belongings away from Huggins Floss and his family. In fact, after learning that Dominic Rayn's support and company, as well as the house and all of his previous accounts, Briana and his brother, had also been taken over by the Floss family, Matthew was eager to exact revenge on them for their mistreatment and arbitrary control of assets.
"You shouldn't be worried. Of course, I'm not allowing them to suddenly acquire ownership of what I've worked so hard to build." Matthew replied.
That made Louise very happy to hear it. "You'd better rest tonight; I'll return to see you tomorrow. Good night," Louise remarked as she left the room, leaving Matthew inside.
Matthew headed to the table where the wine was after Fransischa Louise departed. He put some into a glass and sipped it, looking out over the vast sea and the cityscape, which seemed to have dazzling street lights bordering its beaches. It was charming and soothing.
Matthew had received a Presidential Hotel Room from a woman named Francisca Louis even though, if he remembered correctly, just a few hours before, he was worried about where he would stay if he were expelled from Dominic Rayn's house. What fortunate timing for Matthew.
[ Hello, Matthew Wilson. You have just earned additional points. ]
Instantaneously, the system window emerged, showing Matthew's increasing balance and the most recent points he had earned for making Fransischa Louis happy.
"Is giving happiness one of the ways to get points?" Matthew was curious.
[used only in the harem system. No further points will be awarded for the same activity outside of that. ]
"So that woman is already on my harem list?"
[ Correct. ]
He was used to hearing artificial intelligence (AI) on mobile devices, such as SIRI and G****e Assistant, answer in this manner. Nevertheless, Trivia was much more sophisticated than those two AIs.
It does more than just show the sum of the points. The system also details unidentified people connected to Dominic Rayn and who did business with him.
[ Anthony Baskin has already told you that your payment will be on hold. I also heard that you wish to implement a plan to reclaim the assets owned by the previous Host. ]
"Of course."
[ Then I recommend Ashen Lee. A man who is a Kriskonvich auction house platinum member. The former Host is owed 800 million dollars to the previous Host. ]
Matthew furrowed his brows. Dominic Rayn is pondering how, with all of his wealth and money, he could have been deceived and harmed by those close to him so terribly that he fell into poverty. Matthew believed that imagining himself as Dominic Rayn was absurd. He was physically like Dominic Rayn then, but their lifestyles differed.
[ If you wish to see him in person to pay his obligation. Your third scenario will be an auction that will take place at Kriskonvich tomorrow at two o'clock in the afternoon. If you concur, the third scenario will be unlocked, and you'll receive one billion dollars plus a bonus of 20,000 points. ]
Matthew whistled in disbelief that making money could be so simple.
Matthew only had to labor from early morning until late at night; he could simply make a ton of money by following the system's provided scenarios. What a blessing.
"Agreed."
[ Selection complete. Matthew Wilson, please complete the scenario. ]
The system window once more vanished. But Matthew could still visualize Ashen Lee standing over him.
He quickly finished the wine in his glass and went to bed to rest. He wanted to look as young as he could for tomorrow. Facing a new circumstance to improve his capacity to generate income from the current system.
***
Matthew boarded a taxi at precisely one o'clock in the afternoon and departed. Just outside the main lobby entrance of the Kriskonvich auction house, he stopped.
Matthew made the decision to visit the auction house. Even though he had intended to go with Frasischa Louise to seek a location for his new home as the system provided more balance for him, he postponed his apartment search that day.
When Matthew exited the taxi, the security guard asked him whether to go to the auction house. In contrast to the other guests, Matthew seemed modest. Therefore, this question was mainly aimed at him.
Most sported tuxedos, fashionable clothing that cost tens of thousands of dollars, exorbitant jewelry, expensive, limited-edition watches, and driving fast cars. Only a tattered white shirt and no tie or suit were present when Matthew arrived alone in a taxi. If Matthew forced himself to dress in a case, he would only make a terrible impression on himself.
Matthew had tried on the suits in his bag since getting out of bed, but they were all too big for the frail man. Maybe he used to suit all the claims, but Dominic Rayn was now too big for all the suits. When it was shown, he was malnourished and had lost a lot of weight.
"Isn't there an auction today? One of the two pieces of limited-edition jewelry I've heard about was worn by an Asian monarch. The auction is open to members exclusively, right?" Matthew ventured to ask.
Internet research was done by Matthew regarding the goods that will be up for auction today at Kriskovich's auction house. As a result, he could learn even if he merely asked and received a straightforward response.
"That's right. But only members can enter. We don't allow anyone outside of that. Anyway ...," the security guard stopped talking. He looked at Matthew from head to toe. "What exactly do you want to come here dressed like that, sir?"
"I want to attend an auction. Do I have to fill out a guest book?" Matthew asked and hoped that the security guard would tell him.
However, instead of telling him, the security guard laughed, "You want to come in looking like that? Who do you think you are?" he started mocking Matthew's appearance.
"Of course, I'm a guest. I want to attend the auction today. If necessary, I'd also like to apply for membership to enter." Matthew offered himself, but the security guard laughed at him.
"What did you say, sign up for membership? Looking like a cleaner like this, do you think I believe that you have that much money to sign up for a membership?" the security guard laughed at Matthew's wish.
"What's wrong with that?" Matthew asked in an angry tone.
The security guard giggled even louder while calling a friend to come over. When Matthew claimed he planned to participate in the auction by signing up to become a member and posing as a cleaning service, not one, but two security personnel thought he was joking.
"Dude! You may be able to joke with yourself, but you can't joke with us. You better get out of here before we kick you out rudely." Threatened the security guard.
"I'm not!" Matthew refused even louder. "I want to join you because my friend, Ashen Lee, is there! I have something to do with him."
The two security guards were taken aback when Matthew mentioned Ashen Lee. They exchanged glances before turning their attention to Matthew and giving him a contemptuous, disgusted look.
"Hey, you little assholes. Don't say that you know Mr. Ashen Lee, huh!" the second security officer said to Matthew while tapping Matthew's shoulder very hard.
"That's right! You look more like a bum, but you realize we could take you to jail right now for saying you know Mr. Ashen Lee!" the first officer said, putting Matthew on the spot.
He required access to government documents on Ashen Lee. Despite this, Matthew felt sure that Ashen Lee would recognize him if he saw Dominic Rayn's face, and given their massive debt, Ashen Lee would probably leave as well. Thus, becoming an
Action member was the only way to meet Ashen Lee and prevent a scene.
Matthew attempted to disregard the two security guards as a result. His hunt for the reception desk, which might be able to provide him with more information than the officers could, continued inside.
But Matthew made a scene and made everyone look at them since he had just walked by the two security guys. Matthew had his hands behind his back, and the security personnel observed this. They believed he was trying to stir up trouble at the auction house.
Due to the uproar, additional officers joined the two already there to secure Matthew. They thought Matthew was a problem and would interrogate him in the security room.
However, just as Matthew was going to be escorted by the security guards to the security room, a guy approached them wearing a name tag that said, 'Operations Manager Evan Wesker.'
"What's going on here?"

33. Buildin’ trust
Seaside Bay sat quiet under the pale yellow glow of the streetlamps. Through the fogged-up glass window, the ocean looked like a sheet of black silk, glinting faintly. Every so often, a wave broke against the dock with a dull thud. The air was thick with salt, coffee, and the smoky scent of grilled meat fresh from the kitchen. The three men across from Matthew hadn’t said a word. The silence was heavy. Only the faint clink of a spoon from another table broke through, swallowed again by the whisper of the sea.Victor leaned back, arms crossed, eyes locked on Matthew like he was trying to peel back the layers of whatever the hell had just come out of the man’s mouth. “You talk like someone who’s lost everything,” he murmured, voice caught between pity and suspicion. “But I’ve never seen a man that wrecked still sit that straight.”Alfonso Kerr snorted, fingers drumming on the table, phone still clutched in his hand. “I’m not buying it. At least that way, he could play his pieces right, without fearing a misstep. But just a few steps inside, Jennifer’s phone buzzed.
