“Let me go, you bastard!” Sonic brushed off his suit, glaring at Peter.

“You promised to run around this building naked if I turned out to be a five-star priority customer,” said Peter.

“W-what do you mean, you bastard?” Sonic looked away.

“If you keep your promise, I’ll drop all my charges. If you refuse, I’ll still report you to the police.”

“I-I never said I’d run around this building naked.”

“I recorded everything you said.” Peter held up his phone and played the recording of Sonic’s words.

Sonic gaped at the recording of his own voice. “That’s an AI recording. I never said that.”

“If you still don’t believe me, we can check the CCTV.”

“No!” Sonic screamed hysterically, “I-I never said that stupid thing! I also... I’d better get out of this damn place!”

Sonic rushed off.

“Didn’t you want to borrow money using the deed to one of your family’s houses as collateral, Sonic? You… took that deed from your father’s safe.”

Sonic immediately turned around, staring at Peter in disbelief. “How did you know?”

Sonic immediately clamped his mouth shut.

“My hunch was right. I saw Sonic enter a room, open a safe labeled with his father’s name, and take a house deed. Though just briefly, I heard the word ‘mortgage,’” Peter muttered.

Peter smiled. “That ability to see into the past is truly real.”

Sonic snorted in annoyance, running as fast as he could toward the exit.

“If he manages to escape, I’ll definitely report what happened to headquarters,” Peter threatened.

“W-we’ll do our best, sir.” The branch manager immediately ran toward the exit and contacted the security team.

Peter turned to the people who had just sneered at him. They hung their heads in fear, trying not to make eye contact with him.

“Let me go! I’m completely innocent!” Sonic clung to one of the trees. His screams drew people’s attention. “You’ll all pay the price for treating me so badly!”

“Get that man out of my sight right now!”

“Peter!” Sonic shouted as the guards shoved him into the car. “I know you’ve been cheating! You couldn’t possibly....”

Sonic’s shouts faded as the car began to drive away.

“So, is this what victory feels like?” Peter smiled. “My chest feels so light. The heavy burdens on my shoulders have vanished too.”

The branch manager kept apologizing to Peter over and over, as did the staff. Their faces looked pale and frightened.

Peter decided to go to his apartment.

“You haven’t paid the rent yet, you bastard!” the landlord shouted as Peter was about to enter his apartment. “If you don’t pay it now, you....”

“I’m moving out right now.” Peter opened the door.

“You’re moving out?” The potbellied old man approached. “Have you found a job yet?”

“Yes.” Peter handed over a few bills. “You can keep the rest.”

The old man counted the money as he followed Peter into the apartment. “Are you really leaving now? Where will you stay? How much will you be earning?”

“That’s none of your business, sir.” Peter opened the closet, staring at his clothes. “I can buy plenty of new clothes. I can also stay at a hotel or even buy a new house.”

“Why are you mumbling to yourself, damn it? Answer my question!”

Peter hurriedly changed his clothes, grabbed a few items, and stuffed them into a bag. He touched the old book inside his shirt and slipped it into another bag.

“I have to leave right now.” Peter waved his hand, leaving the bewildered old man behind in the room.

Peter let out a long sigh as he gazed at the old building where he had lived for the past three years.

“My new life has begun now.”

Peter took a taxi downtown. He visited several places to buy a few things.

“The graduation party is going to start in a few hours. I’m going to surprise everyone, especially Clara and Simon. I won’t let them embarrass me again.”

Peter arrived in front of a famous clothing and accessories store a few minutes later. He watched the people and cars passing by.

“They look really cool in their outfits.”

Peter walked toward the entrance, passing rows of clothing racks and shoe displays. “I don’t really know much about fashion.”

A few shoppers eyed Peter’s appearance with disdain. One of them immediately alerted the store staff.

“What are you doing here?” asked a staff member brusquely, “if you’re just here to look around, you’d better leave before I call security.”

Peter knew this would happen. He immediately handed his platinum card to the staff member and said, “Do you still want to kick me out?”

The staff member was startled when they held the card, which was printed in gold ink with five stars at the top. His hand trembled so much that the card nearly fell.

“I was in a hurry, so I borrowed my friend’s clothes.” Peter glanced at the visitors watching him from a distance. “If you don’t serve me well, I’ll leave this store and choose another one.”

“I’m truly sorry for my rude behavior just now, sir.” The staff member bowed repeatedly. “Please tell me what you need. I’ll serve you as best as I can.”

Peter felt annoyed after seeing the staff member’s attitude change so drastically. Couldn’t the staff treat all customers fairly?

“I want to buy all the latest-edition clothes, watches, shoes, and accessories. I want everything ready in ten minutes. Do it now.”

“I understand, sir.” The staff member immediately contacted the store manager and ran to fetch the latest editions.

The store manager approached Peter along with several staff members. “Please follow us, sir. You can wait in the private waiting room while our staff prepares all your items.”

Peter nodded, glancing at a few shoppers who had previously looked down on him. They bowed their heads in shame, pretending to be busy picking out clothes.

The staff seemed very busy gathering all the latest items. Some of them even bumped into each other as they passed by. The shoppers began to wonder who Peter really was.

Peter watched the staff’s hustle and bustle from a plush sofa. A cup of drink and a few plates of pastries sat on the table.

A woman entered the outlet and approached one of the staff members. “I need a new outfit from the latest collection. I want you to....”

“Sorry, I’m busy right now, ma’am.” The staff member hurried away.

“I’m one of the main customers at this outlet. Your attitude is really rude. If you....” The woman fell silent when she saw how busy the staff were. “What’s going on?”

“A man bought all the latest edition clothes and accessories at this store, so the staff are very busy right now,” said a customer with an annoyed expression.

“That man... must be very rich. I’m curious who he is.”

The woman walked deeper into the store, passing rows of racks and the increasingly busy staff. She approached a private room to catch a glimpse of the wealthy man.

“I have to meet that man no matter what.”

“There he is. He looks amazing even from behind.” The woman weaved past the staff, walking faster and faster until she suddenly stopped, her mouth agape.

“Isn’t that Peter?”

Peter turned around when he sensed someone watching him. He smiled when he realized who the woman was.

“Cindy. She’s here just in time.”

One by one, cars drove through the university’s main gate. A few people could be seen walking along the sidewalk. Bright lights adorned every corner of the street, creating a sea of light. Rows of round tables were neatly arranged in the front yard. The sound of music and singing drifted down from the stage. People began to fill the event venue, chatting and taking photos. Cindy sat in a chair. A glass of drink was in her hand. The sweetness of the drink couldn’t erase the frown on her face. “Oh my God, my boyfriend really broke up with me. He also beat up his cousin until he was a bloody mess.”Cindy watched the people passing by nearby. “I never thought Peter would see me going to the hotel with....”“Oh my gosh, I really want to scream right now.” Cindy let out a long sigh, growing even more annoyed as the drink spilled onto her dress. “I was supposed to be wearing the latest dress right now, but because of what happened earlier, all my plans fell through. Cindy rubbed her eyes and shook her head repeatedly. “He... is indeed Peter. But how could he possibly be in that room right now?”Cindy pinched her arm repeatedly. “This isn’t a dream, and that man really is Peter. What on earth is going on?”Cindy watched as the staff entered the room carrying shopping bags. “The staff are treating Peter very well. They’re also placing the bags near him.”“Oh my God, what is going on?” Cindy stomped her foot. “How could Peter be… I can’t believe this. But that man really is Peter.”“What are you doing, ma’am?” asked a staff member, “You’ve been standing here for quite a while. Are you spying on our VVIP customer?”“VVIP customer? Do you mean that man?”The staff member nodded. “Please don’t stand there, ma’am. You might make our VVIP guest uncomfortable.”Cindy sat down in a chair, continuing to watch as the staff came and went from the room. She checked the messages on her phone, massaging her head, which had suddenly started to ache. “Clara said

Sonic glanced at the crowd around him. He felt he had plenty of allies to further humiliate Peter. Sonic laughed as he took in Peter’s appearance for the umpteenth time. “No one would believe you’re the bank’s highest-level priority customer. Only a fool would believe you’re a five-star priority customer.” The other customers nodded in agreement. “The main requirement to be the highest-level priority customer at this bank is to have at least five hundred million dollars in your bank account.” Sonic pointed at Peter’s face. “I’m not sure someone like you even has five thousand dollars in your account, let alone the fact that you’re just a low-paid food delivery guy. If you want to brag, you still have to use your brain.”One man in the crowd said, “Even the richest person in this city rarely becomes a top-tier priority customer.”“Goodness, that guy must be crazy!”“He must have hit his head on something so he can’t think straight!”“He’s a pathetic liar!”“I know daydreaming doesn

Peter arrived at the bank half an hour later. He didn’t care at all that he was soaking wet and his clothes were dirty. A staff member looked at him with annoyance and disdain, but the woman kept up her fake smile. “How can I help you, sir?” “I want to withdraw five hundred thousand dollars from my account,” said Peter. The staff member was startled, repeatedly glancing at Peter’s appearance. She took his card, checked the account, and froze in place upon seeing the string of numbers on the computer screen. The staff member immediately contacted her supervisor. Her cold smile turned into a warm, polite one. “Please forgive my rudeness just now, sir. Please follow me. I’ll take you to our priority customer lounge.”“Priority customer?” Peter said. The staff member nodded. “I have a hundred billion dollars in my account. Of course I’m a priority client at this bank.” Peter followed the woman. “I’m not surprised she suddenly became so polite to me.”Peter entered a very spacious r

A golden-red light suddenly enveloped Peter’s body, healing all his wounds. The old book knocked over the cupboard and the books surrounding Peter, then circled the man’s body before finally landing on his chest. As the room grew dim once more, the rain began to pour down heavily. The wind blew fiercely, whipping tree branches against the window and creating a clattering sound. Raindrops seeped through a hole in the warehouse roof, falling onto Peter’s face. Peter began to blink, coming round. He rubbed his head repeatedly, taking in his surroundings. “Where am I?” Peter jumped in surprise at the dim light. He felt around him, touching some books nearby. Peter turned towards the window. When a thunderclap rang out so loudly that the room was suddenly lit up, a series of events instantly flashed through his mind. “I intended to propose to Clara today, but she was actually having an affair with Simon. No, that madwoman has been playing me all this time. Out of anger, I hit Simon
