Forest of Trials III

“This is just great.” Zeke muttered to as his back faced a wall.

Twenty goblins surround Zeke, covering every possible route he can use to escape. The monsters were easy to deal with at the start. He’s able to shave off a total of ten of them. But it didn’t take long before the goblins seemingly adapted to his fighting style. Learning all of the holes and lapses that can be found within it.

This led to his inevitable situation, where he is forced into this fight with the goblins that surround him. All of which are using lethal weapons. Short spears, blunt axes, and daggers. These are the only things that they are making use of – though this is also more than enough for them to be much trouble for someone like Zeke.

“Can’t you guys attack one by one? I don’t like being ganged up on.” Zeke added jokingly.

The goblins don’t seem to understand or they probably just don’t care at all. They attacked right away. Running up and pouncing on Zeke from all corners all at once. Zeke responded in kind by jumping up in the air. A move that the goblins never expected.

With his momentum, Zeke then stepped on the wall of rocks behind him. Using it as a tool to change the direction of his body, propelling it towards the group of goblins directly in front of him. The monsters couldn’t act properly at all. The ones with short spears tried raising their weapons but this is to no avail as, their intent and their spear direction are both too far off.

Zeke used this to step on one of the goblin heads, then another, then a third until he got out of the group. And he did all of this while unleashing one dagger after the other. Throwing a total of eight now and leaving him with two more that he drew as soon as he landed on the ground again.

The goblins quickly followed and turned around. But as soon as they did, Zeke’s already far from their reach, running as fast as he can so that the goblins can’t attack him.

“That’s not gonna work a second time.” Zeke said out loud as he continued moving and swerving through the trees. Making sure that he doesn’t easily get hit with projectiles should some of the goblins be able to use something of the sort.

“I need to think of something fast.” Is the next thing that he said as he finally found a good spot for him to hide in. A part of the forest which has a thicker number of trees around it. One that Zeke entered without a second’s hesitation.

He can hear the voices of the goblins trailing behind him. They are near. Wherever he tires to hide, wherever he tries to go, he’s sure that the goblins would be able to catch up to him. It would only be a matter of time. And Zeke doesn’t like being forced into such a bad spot. Not in the slightest bit.

“I’m gonna have to kill whoever it is that’s forcing me to do this.” Zeke began climbing on one of the trees that has branches and parts sticking out. Allowing him to do so even though he has no experience in doing this sort of thing.

The goblins are still there. In fact, as he climbed to the top branch he can hear that the goblins are talking among themselves. But the good thing here is that, the branch that he climbed up to is intertwined with the branches of other trees that are nearby. Meaning, even though the goblins know that he climbed up, they would still take some time before they can find him. Enough time for Zeke to rest and strategize.

“This isn’t good at all.” Zeke said. “At this rate, the bastards might just kill me.”

He knows that he’s not invincible. At any point, Zeke knows that his life can be jeopardized. That’s why he’s squeezing his brain as hard as he can so that he can find the best possible solution.

“Two daggers. A coupe of trashy skills that isn’t useful against a mob.” Zeke closed his eyes and focused on his breathing. All while still remaining conscious of the sounds around him. “How can I beat all these goblins with what I have.”

Zeke isn’t a hitman. He’s not a soldier, nor has he gone to any sort of war. He’s not a policeman, or a fireman as well. And he, very well, isn’t a thug on the streets. He’s nothing more than a student. A high school student who’s trying his best to get to college. But now he has to deal with a seeming genocide of goblins that has to be done with two daggers.

Just two daggers.

“Man, this is really unfair no matter how much I try to think about it.” Zeke opened his eyes. “Unless I get something that can cause massive damage, I doubt I’d be able to take all of them out.”

These are the last words that he said before two goblins final found his tree. They are climbing on it and, as soon as they saw him, they began to scream.

Zeke answer in kind by throwing his last pair of daggers on the goblins. Taking them down before they can cause any more trouble. He then jumped off the tree – right on top of one of the goblins that is still clinging on to it. Allowing Zeke to lessen the impact of his fall as he descended to the ground.

He then picked up his daggers. One from the goblin that instantly died because he hit it with a {Sure Hit], and the other from the goblin that just fell to the ground shortly after him. Also dead because of the force of Zeke stepping on its face.

[You have leveled up!]

“Gee thanks.” Zeke said sarcastically. “But I’m not in the mood for that right now. I got goblins to kill.”

Zeke’s leveled up a total of two times ever since the fight began. It isn’t much but it’s being put to good use as his stats continued increasing. The only thing that remained a positive thing that he welcomes. After all, it is this that allows him to continue fighting as it heals through his wounds. Specifically, the poison inflicting ones caused by the long ranged attackers of the goblins.

“I gotta get a better spot to fight them at.” Zeke added, already thinking of ways on how this could be done.

Then an arrow hit his shoulder.
