Chapter 4

Getting the first spirit was relatively easy since there was little resistance from the opponent. Opportunities like this wouldn't come often, so Beelze wanted to take advantage and gather more spirits. He glanced around and realized there were too many boats chasing too few fish!

With more eggs hatching than those remaining unhatched, there was no choice - all the Devilkin eggs were quickly taken. Beelze managed to secure one because he was close by. Just as he considered going for more, he saw a few little Devilkin fighting over an egg in the distance.

Seeing this, Beelze was alarmed. The brutal way Devilkin fought for survival gave him a bad feeling. Would the stronger ones turn on the weaker ones who had already hatched and not yet acquired spirits?!

Looking at his small arms and legs, Beelze felt vulnerable. "No, I need to think fast!" He quickly accessed the customization interface.

Despite being born a Devilkin, Beelze still thought like a human. His first instinct was to arm himself. When he thought of weapons, his mind went straight to firearms. He decided to conjure a pistol.

Selecting a blank page on the interface, Beelze began crafting it using the brush tool directly by hand. While he had some military training in college, his knowledge of firearms was limited. This time, he opted for a revolver.

A revolver appealed to him for its simple, sturdy design that offered reliable performance without easily jamming. Even if one bullet misfired, it wouldn't affect the firing of the next.

Normally, Beelze preferred sleek, modern firearms, but he set aside those thoughts knowing a revolver would be more suitable for a novice like him, less prone to malfunctioning at crucial moments.

It didn't take long to create the revolver, but Beelze grimaced when he looked at it. "Did I forget how to draw properly?" His conjuring looked more like graffiti - crooked where it should be straight, and vice versa. It lacked any artistic appeal.

Yet, Beelze knew from his experience in art design that conjurings needed refinement. He used auxiliary line tools to straighten the curves, added color, adjusted highlights and shadows, until finally, the gun looked acceptable.

As he was about to finalize the modifications on the panel, a strange noise caught Beelze's attention from behind.

Beelze stiffened and swiftly turned around. The one making the strange cry was none other than the six-eyed Devilkin from earlier!

Having recovered from the euphoria of devouring his first spirit, the six-eyed Devilkin was now enraged by his late arrival to the egg-killing. His attention was inadvertently drawn to Beelze, specifically to the spirit floating beside him that was shining brightly in the darkness.

While the other little Devilkin were busy searching for spirits to consume, Beelze hadn't immediately devoured his spirit, making him as conspicuous as a firefly in the night. This caught the six-eyed Devilkin's attention. His four eyes fixated on the spirit beside Beelze, saliva dripping from his sharp-toothed mouth.

Devilkin had robust digestive systems, but given the choice between flesh and spirit, most preferred the latter…

As Beelze turned around, the greed in the six-eyed Devilkin's eyes became more evident. His instincts told him that this Devilkin was weak, a potential source of two spirits!

Just as Beelze had anticipated, the stronger Devilkin who hadn't secured spirits had now set their sights on the weaker ones, and Beelze found himself in the midst of it with the six-eyed Devilkin.

A new round of slaughter was about to begin. This was the law of the Devilkin World—only the strongest survived their birthplace.

Beelze immediately understood the intentions of the six-eyed Devilkin upon seeing his expression.

He wanted to refine and perfect his conjuring, but it seemed there was no choice now. Beelze remained vigilant, quickly defining the revolver he had drawn using the text function.

He swiftly set the definitions: Guns, Perfect Aim, Infinite Ammo, and Reaction Time. Despite the confrontational stare from the six-eyed Devilkin, Beelze completed the definitions and used collage to place the conjuring on the main page and in the hand of his selfie. Finally, he saved!

The shining spirit beside Beelze vanished.

However, Beelze felt awkward when the revolver he desired didn't materialize in his hand. Instead, a system prompt appeared: Insufficient Spirits. Only 30% of the progress was saved. He had the option to cancel the save or modify the conjuring.

"Insufficient Spirits! My definitions for the gun exceeded the single-spirit limit!"

This mishap stunned Beelze momentarily, and at that moment, the six-eyed Devilkin hissed angrily at him.

The six-eyed Devilkin had been fixated on the spirit beside Beelze the entire time, and now that it had disappeared upon Beelze's save, anger was inevitable.

Although he couldn't see Beelze's system interface, he believed Beelze had somehow hidden the spirit. With a kick from the ground, he lunged at Beelze!

Being larger than Beelze, he easily knocked him down and aimed to bite his face!

Beelze couldn't afford to be bitten. He hastily raised his hand and slapped the Devilkin's face, causing his head to jerk sideways.

It was a reflex action. He hadn't anticipated how sharp his claws were. The slap left bloody scratches on the six-eyed Devilkin's face.

The six-eyed Devilkin seethed as Beelze's claws left his face bloodied, retaliating with claws of his own. Newly hatched, these little Devilkin lacked tactics, relying solely on their physical strength and sharp claws. Beelze, clearly weaker than the six-eyed Devilkin who boasted an Attack rating of at least twenty compared to Beelze's fourteen, found himself on the losing end of their skirmish.

"This can’t go on," Beelze thought, overwhelmed and pinned down. Spotting an opening amidst the attacks, he struck upward with a sudden kick to the six-eyed Devilkin's groin, exploiting his vulnerability.

Observing the majority of these Devilkin were males, all freshly hatched and naked, made targeting them straightforward. It was Beelze’s only advantage—his ability to remain calm and strategic amidst the chaos, not wholly relying on pure instinct.

But the critical blow Beelze hoped for didn't materialize. While the kick caused the six-eyed Devilkin to howl, it didn't diminish his fighting prowess. Instead, he seized the moment to sink his teeth into Beelze’s shoulder.

"Human males' weakness doesn’t apply to Devilkin," Beelze realized, feeling a numbing sensation spread from the bite, suspecting the Devilkin's saliva harbored poison.

Such abilities weren’t surprising for creatures like Devilkin, far beyond Beelze’s previous knowledge. Growing increasingly fatigued, Beelze gritted his teeth and accessed the interface again, using one hand to fend off the six-eyed Devilkin while his other hand worked swiftly.

Beelze was fortunate he had finished conjuring the gun before the attack. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have been able to complete it during the fight. Now, he needed only to adjust the text definitions.

Realizing the Infinite Ammunition Element was too demanding, preventing him from saving the revolver, Beelze decided to remove it along with Precision, opting instead for "Full of Bullets."

As he saved this time, Beelze felt the weight of the gun in his right hand, its surface cold to the touch.

At this critical juncture, Beelze knew he had finally saved, but he had no time to waste. Without hesitation, he pressed the muzzle against the six-eyed Devilkin’s abdomen…

The next moment, a powerful thunder resounded.

The next bid for the 1907 Heidsieck is currently at $707,000. Do I hear any other bids?” The room fell silent, a brief pause hanging in the air as if everyone was waiting for someone else to make the next move. “Really, no more bids?” The auctioneer raised his gavel, smiling at the impending sale. Beelze glanced around, his eyes shifting from Lisa to the wealthy patrons seated around the auction house. He leaned slightly toward Lisa, a sly smile forming. “My luck has been... interesting lately,” he said casually. “But I suppose there’s no harm in selling it to you.” Lisa’s face lit up, her expression almost childlike in its delight. “Really? You’ll sell it to me?” As she spoke, Beelze’s system messages flared up. [The strength of the other party's artifact is increa

Chapter 37: Right Hand 2 Beelze's expression darkened into a frown, a clear indication of his growing concern. It seemed that Depay had every intention of participating in the upcoming auction, despite the looming issues surrounding the company. The motive behind Depay's decision to stay was becoming increasingly apparent to Beelze – it had to be the artifacts. The realization struck Beelze like a bolt of lightning. Those cunning individuals must have been aware of the valuable artifacts up for auction. In Beelze's mind, the situation began to unravel further. It was evident that monopolizing the artifacts during the initial stages was crucial for these individuals. The thought of potentially clashing with Depay over the artifacts sent a shiver down Beelze's spine. He couldn't help but worry, knowing full well the financial might his opponent wielded. While Beelze had amassed a considerable sum through his ventures in the casinos, it paled in comparison to the vast resources at th

Everybody else was suffering drastically from being around the Ruler of Destitution’s area of influence. That was why Beelze quickly looked toward Depay. He was curious if Depay would also be impacted by the Ruler of Destitution. The Depay of old would immediately try to leave this place or defend somehow, however... ‘There’s no way he knows about the Ruler of Destitution yet.’ And lo and behold. “W,what is going on?! Beelze’s meteoric rise to captain of the Crypt raiding team had left Biho in the shadows, constantly compared and inevitably outshone. His frustration had grown into animosity, a simmering hatred that only deepened with every failed attempt to surpass Beelze. Now, years later, that familiar contempt was written all over Biho’s face as he noticed Beelze staring at him. “What’s your problem?” Biho sneered. “Move it, unless you want to block the way all night.” Beelze smirked, recognizing the same petty arrogance from the past. He could already tell what had fueled Biho’s disdain this time—the number on the ticket Beelze held in his hand. Bronze. The auction house operated with a strict hierarchy, separating participants into tiers. Bronze tickets were for the common crowd—average bidders who wouldn’t make waves. Gold tickets, like
