The Sovereign of the Rusted Vault raised its massive, two-handed greatsword. Black flames rolled off the jagged Crystal helm, Casting long, twisting Shadows across the Server racks of the Zenith Core.

"Noël!" Elara SCreamed, Stumbling backward against a humming Console. "That thing, it's not a normal monster!"

"Of Course it isn't," Noël said.

He looked at the towering boss and made a blank expression. In a normal Progression fantasy, the party would launch into a dramatic tactical retreat. But the genre of his life was plainly 'realism' governed by rigid System mechanics.

Gideon Vance didn't hesitate. He drew his silver rapier.

Tiing!

A brilliant white aura Surged along the blade, Cutting through the darkness of the vault. Gideon Stepped forward, his Agility easily exceeding Lv. 50.

"Stay out of my way, vagrant," Gideon said Coldly. "I will Cut its head off before it Completes its Summoning phase."

He vanished in a blur of motion.

Hwiiik!

In the first place, Gideon was Strong. Against Standard human Combatants or low-tier demons, his Speed was absolute. But the Sovereign of the Rusted Vault wasn't a Standard enemy. It was a Conceptual boss tied directly to the Mnemonic Ledger.

Gideon appeared directly beneath the Sovereign's massive torso, his rapier thrusting forward in a blinding flash of silver light.

Right Chest.

The silver blade pierced the rusted plating.

Puok!

Instead of blood, a torrent of pressurized Steam and broken Code Spilled from the wound.

The Sovereign didn't even flinch. It lowered its Crystal-encrusted helm and Swung its greatsword horizontally in a merciless, Sweeping arc.

Kuuong!

"Urgh!"

Gideon Crossed his blade to block, but the sheer kinetic force of the blow Sent him Skidding backward across the metal floor, leaving deep gouges in the Steel. He Coughed up a Spray of dark blood, his face turning pale.

"How...?" Gideon stared at the boss in absolute disbelief. "My attack hit its primary reactor Core. Why didn't it destabilize?"

Noël quickly opened his mouth. "Because you're hitting the wrong timeline's Core."

Gideon glared at him. "What are you talking about?"

"That Sovereign has three overlapping physical layers Corresponding to three erased timelines. If you only attack the Current layer, the damage is distributed across all three. You're fighting a ghost."

Of Course, it was a partial bluff. Noël had read the boss's patch notes in his ghost-memories, but the mechanic required a very Specific trigger to exploit.

The Sovereign raised its black-flamed greatsword again, Preparing to Cleave Gideon in two.

[The Gallery-being 'The Auditor of Ash' leans forward in absolute ecstasy.]

[The Gallery-being 'Seyl the Unblinking' Shakes his head at Gideon's reckless assault.]

[The Gallery-being 'Crowned Ember' watches to see if you will die here.]

[500 Tribute has been Sponsored.]

[Current Tribute: 11,900]

Noël didn't waste a Second. He immediately poured the Tribute into his Stats.

[10,000 Tribute has been Consumed!]

[Your Physique has increased to Lv. 45!]

[Your Agility has increased to Lv. 50!]

[Your Strength has increased to Lv. 40!]

A violent, Scorching tearing Sensation ripped through his body. His muscle fibers Snapped and reknit themselves into dense, tempered Cords. The Combat power gap between him and the Tier-1 entity Shrank to a razor-thin margin.

He Strengthened his grip on the rusted iron pipe.

"Lyra!" he Shouted.

"I know, I know! You're going to get me killed!" Lyra SCre amed, Slamming her hydro-spanner into the Central diagnostic terminal of the Server rack.

Chiiiik!

She overrode the vault's local power grid, feeding a massive Surge of electricity directly into the floor grates where the Sovereign stood.

The Sovereign’s movements Stuttered for a fraction of a Second.

Dudududu.

That was all the opening Noël needed.

He firmly Placed Strength on the heels of his feet.

Right Side.

He Slipped past the descent of the greatsword, feeling the searing heat of the black flames brush against his cheek.

Left Knee.

He dropped low, driving the rusted iron pipe straight into the localized anomaly where the three timeline layers intersected.

Kwajijijik!

The pipe resonated with a high-pitched, metallic Shriek as it made Contact with the Core's temporal anchor.

[Exclusive mechanic triggered: 'Timeline Interference'.]

The Sovereign let out a deafening, Synthesized roar that Shattered the remaining Server Screens in the vault. The Crystal helm Cracked down the middle, revealing a blinding Core of pure, unformatted data.

"Now, Gideon!" Noël yelled.

Gideon didn't hesitate. Abandoning his Confusion, he Channeled every ounce of his remaining ether into his rapier, turning the blade into a beam of blinding Sunlight.

He lunged forward, driving the glowing blade straight through the exposed Core.

Kwaaaaang!

An explosion of white light Swallowed the entire Chamber. The Shockwave knocked Elara and Lyra to the ground, while the massive frame of the Sovereign began to fracture into millions of Shimmering data polygons.

[You have defeated the Sovereign of the Rusted Vault!]

[You have Cleared Main Scenario #5.]

[3,000 Tribute has been acquired.]

[You have met the requirements for Tier Advancement!]

[Current Tribute: 14,900]

Noël stood amidst the fading light, breathing heavily, his clothes Scorched and tattered. Gideon was kneeling a few feet away, panting, staring at Noël with a Complex mixture of Shock and profound wariness.

"You..." Gideon opened his mouth, his voice trembling slightly. "You aren't a vagrant. What are you?"

Noël wiped a Streak of Soot from his forehead and made a blank expression.

Before he could answer, a Chilling System message flashed across his vision, freezing the air in the vault.

[Your Mnemonic Ledger density has reached 10 / 60 Fractures.]

[The final restriction has been lifted.]

[Main Scenario #6: The Sovereign's Heir has begun.]

It was a monumental monolithic pillar devoid of windows. Its black surface was carved with thousands of pulsing crimson runes that thrummed with immense weight."The ambient pressure here is three times higher than in the lower towers," Gideon said. He leaned on his right foot, his silver rapier drawn, its white-gold solar ether flickering against the gale. "My ether flow is lagging.""Keep your breathing steady," Noël said, wiping sweat and blood from his chin. High above, the inner ceiling of the Third Spire was Shrouded in indigo mist, crackling with purple lightning."The air Pressure is dropping," Gideon said, leaning against his rapier hilt on the vibrating platform. "My solar ether is reacting strangely to the ambient mana in this shaft."Lyra checked her ether-compass, her brows furrowed beneath her visor."It's not just mana Pressure. The Third Spire has an inverted gravity field. Look at the ledges."Through the swirling indigo mist, thousands of inverted stone pillars hung from the ceiling like giant stalactites, pointing downward into the abyss. Cold abyss wind howled across the narrow stone sky-bridge connecting the First and Second Spires.Eight hundred feet below, sea-clouds of white mana fog churned over the jagged obsidian peaks."The wind resistance on this bridge is fluctuating," Gideon noted, his cloak snapping violently behind him. He kept one hand firmly on the hilt of his silver rapier. "Look at the archways ahead. The Second Spire isn't built from solid stone like the first."Through the swirling haze, the Second Spire loomed before them like a hollow iron cage.Unlike the solid obsidian walls of the First Spire, the Second Spire was composed entirely of thousands of rotating brass gear-platforms, suspended in midair around a pulsing blue energy core."A mechanical puzzle spire," Lyra said, her eyes brightening beneath her helmet visor. She pulled out her brass tuning spanner, her Tier 1 Artificer vision scanning the gear rotations. "The platforms are moving on three independent axis gears. If you step onto a plat
