…The air became thick.

Noël looked at the red notification pulsing in the center of his vision.

[Main Scenario #6: The Sovereign's Heir]

Category: Main

Difficulty: C+

Clear Conditions: Secure the data-vault Core and Survive the Syndicate's elite enforcement Squad within 15 minutes.

Time Limit: 15 minutes.

Compensation: 4,000 Tribute, Tier Advancement.

Failure: Complete data wipe.

Gideon Vance stood up slowly, dusting the Soot off his pristine white uniform. He didn't look at the System window. His eyes were fixed on the reinforced entrance of the Zenith Core.

"The Syndicate's private executioners," Gideon said. His voice was completely flat. "They aren't sending regular guards anymore."

Kuuong!

The heavy Steel blast doors at the end of the vault corridor bulged outward. A deafening roar of high-frequency plasma tearing through metal echoed down the hall.

Chiiiik!

Sparks showered across the floor as a heavy Cutting laser carved a neat Circle into the center of the vault door.

Elara Shrank back against the Server racks, clutching her broken spear. "W-What do we do? We're trapped!"

Lyra Thorne gripped her hydro-spanner so hard her knuckles turned white. She made a dark expression. "This is a Closed Sector. There's no back door."

Noël looked at them and made a slightly complicated expression.

In the first place, there was always a back door if someone knew how the System administrator wrote the map.

He quickly opened his internal interface.

[Current Tribute: 14,900]

[Mnemonic Ledger: 10 / 60 Fractures]

His head throbbed. The pain was getting worse, but his status window showed his new stats after the previous stat dump. His Physique was Lv. 45, Agility was Lv. 50, and Strength was Lv. 40. The Combat power gap had Closed significantly.

"Gideon," Noël called out.

Gideon glanced Sideways. "What?"

"How long can you hold that door?"

"Ten minutes." Gideon rested his hand on the hilt of his silver rapier. "If I use my Second-stage ether release, fifteen minutes. But the backlash will break my Spiritual circuits."

"You only need to hold it for three minutes."

Gideon narrowed his eyes. "What are you planning?"

"To change the map."

Noël didn't wait for his response. He Sprinted toward the main diagnostic Console at the back of the data-vault. Lyra Scrambled after him, Shouting, "Are you insane? That's the Core network node! If you misconfigure it, we'll fry our own Souls!"

"That's why I need you," Noël said.

Lyra stopped, her jaw dropping. "Me?"

"Override the sub-routing protocols. Route the Core's residual energy into the old ventilation exhaust lines leading straight to the Surface."

Lyra stared at him, then at the blazing blast doors. The Cutting laser had almost Completed its Circle.

"You're going to blow the ventilation shaft?" Lyra asked, her voice trembling slightly.

"To be exact, we're going to use the thermal backdraft to force an administrative reset."

[The Gallery-being 'The Auditor of Ash' leans forward, fascinated by your structural sabotage.]

[The Gallery-being 'Seyl the Unblinking' smiles at the impending Chaos.]

[200 Tribute has been Sponsored.]

Kwaang!

The heavy Steel door finally gave way. The center Section fell inward with a deafening metallic Crash.

Through the Smoke, three figures in jet-black powered armor Stepped into the vault. They carried heavy magnetic rifles that crackled with blue plasma.

The Syndicate's elite hit Squad.

"Targets acquired," the lead enforcer Synthesized through his helmet. "Execute protocol zero."

Gideon didn't wait for them to finish. He moved forward like a flash of lightning.

Tiing!

A blinding wall of silver ether erupted from his rapier, Colliding directly with the lead enforcer's plasma Shield.

Kakakang!

Sparks showered the vault as Gideon traded blows with the heavy infantry. His Speed was terrifying, but the enforcers were trained to Suppress high-tier incarnations.

Right Side.

Gideon ducked under a heavy rifle butt.

Left Thigh.

He Slashed upward, tearing a deep gouge in the enforcer's leg armor.

"Ugh!" the enforcer grunted, adjusting his aim.

"Lyra! Now!" Noël Shouted.

Lyra slammed her palm onto the manual override button.

Chiiiik!

A blinding Pillar of white heat shot down the ventilation shaft behind them. The thermal backdraft slammed into the vaulted ceiling with the force of an earthquake.

Kuuong!

The entire data-vault shook violently. The sudden Pressure shift caused the Syndicate's magnetic rifles to glitch instantly.

[Administrative Error: Environmental thermal overload.]

[Local network stability dropping to 12%.]

The enforcers staggered, their automated targeting Systems blindingly flashing red error Codes.

Noël firmly Placed Strength on the heels of his feet. He Strengthened his grip on the rusted iron pipe.

He didn't fight fair. He never did.

He rushed past Gideon, directly toward the disoriented enforcer on the left.

"Look at this?" the enforcer muttered, trying to raise his rifle.

Peeok!

Noël Smashed the iron pipe directly into the Side of his helmet visor.

Kwajik!

The reinforced glass Shattered. The enforcer Collapsed onto the metal grating, completely unconscious.

[You have incapacitated a Zenith Elite Enforcer.]

[300 Tribute has been acquired.]

Noël didn't Stop. He turned toward the Second enforcer, who was Struggling to Clear his tactical display.

[Current Tribute: 15,400]

Gideon Sliced through the lead enforcer's chest plate with a final, blinding thrust of his silver rapier.

Kwaaaaang!

The Syndicate hit Squad was completely neutralized in less than two minutes.

Gideon stood amidst the Smoke, his chest heaving as he wiped Sweat from his forehead. He looked at Noël, his expression entirely blank.

"You..." Gideon opened his mouth. "You didn't just route the energy. You forced a System reboot."

"Of Course," Noël said, catching his breath.

He looked up at the ceiling, where the ventilation shaft was now blowing clean, cool air from the outside world.

[Main Scenario #6 progress: 80%]

[The path to the upper strata is open.]

Noël turned to Elara and Lyra, who were staring at him with a mix of awe and sheer terror.

"Pack up," he said plainly. "We're going up."

Before anyone could move, a Cold, mechanical notification rang in his ears.

[Warning: An unrecognized presence is waiting at the top of the ventilation shaft.]

Noël stopped.

He made a dark expression.

…It was a story for when there were no variables.

It was a monumental monolithic pillar devoid of windows. Its black surface was carved with thousands of pulsing crimson runes that thrummed with immense weight."The ambient pressure here is three times higher than in the lower towers," Gideon said. He leaned on his right foot, his silver rapier drawn, its white-gold solar ether flickering against the gale. "My ether flow is lagging.""Keep your breathing steady," Noël said, wiping sweat and blood from his chin.
