The white light of the Trial exit portal faded, depositing the party onto the high marble balcony of the Capital Central Registry.

Around them, the grand entrance hall of the Middle Ring was silent. Hundreds of spectators, merchant representatives, and noble house scouts stood frozen along the terraced walkways, staring up at the giant blue projection screens suspended above the concourse.

[Regional Qualification Trial: 'The Spires of Aethelgard' : FINAL RESULTS]

1st Place: Team 'House Falcrest Auxiliary' (Clear Time: 48m 12s)

2nd Place: Team 'First Academy Cadets' (Disqualified / Eliminated)

3rd Place: Team 'Sterling Retainers' (Disqualified / Eliminated)

The ledger had closed.

Julian Falcrest stood beside Noël, his golden broadsword sheathed at his belt. His hands were still trembling, but he held his chin up, absorbing the stunned gazes of the noble onlookers. For the first time in three years, House Falcrest held a primary seat on the Trade Council.

"They really cleared all five Spires..." a noble scout whispered from the upper terrace.

"Who are those retainers? The one in the trench coat... his name isn't listed in the High Academy registry."

Noël didn't stay to listen to the whispers.

He adjusted his scorched trench coat, pulling the collar up over his bruised neck. The victory regeneration protocol had closed his external cuts, but the internal shock from taking Gerald's purple lightning and Valerius's cleaver still throbbed deep within his ribs.

[Cognitive Strain: Lv. 3 Warning]

"Noël," Gideon called, Stepping alongside him.

His silver rapier was sheathed beneath his dark cloak, and the blinding starfire of his Sol Crown Aspect was once again buried deep within his core. But his aura remained sharp, dense, and suffocating. The surrounding crowd instinctively parted as he walked, giving him a wide berth.

"The public concourse is unsafe," Gideon said, his blue eyes Sweeping the upper galleries. "Gerald's house has deep ties to the Capital Enforcement Guard. Eliminating the Crown Cadet inside a sanctioned Trial is legal, but outside the gates, technicalities won't protect us."

"Corvus is already waiting at the lower carriage platform," Noël replied, keeping his eyes forward.

Lyra and Elara fell into Step behind them. Lyra held her leather tool kit tightly under her arm, her knuckles white, while Elara kept her Radiant Lancer spear wrapped in grey cloth. Her Tier 1 senses mapped every shadow in the hall.

They descended the wide alabaster staircase toward the private transport concourse.

Standing beside a heavily armored blue carriage was Lord Corvus Falcrest. His sharp grey eyes were fixed on the projection screens above, a rare, genuine smile resting on his thin lips.

"Incredible," Corvus said as they approached. "Marquess Sterling left the concourse five minutes ago in absolute fury. His trade leases have been revoked by the Council."

"Our contract is complete, Lord Corvus," Noël said, Stopping five paces before him.

Corvus turned his attention to Noël, his gaze lingering on the scorched coat and the calm, unreadable expression on his face. He pulled a heavy leather pouch and four silver identification badges from his velvet coat pocket.

"The fifty percent salvage cut, twenty-four thousand Tribute tokens," Corvus said, handing the pouch to Gideon. "And four official Tier 1 Pathfinder Badges registered under the Capital Registry."

Tiiiing!

[Item Acquired: Tier 1 Capital Pathfinder Badge x4]

[Official Status Updated: Registered Pathfinder]

Gideon took the badges, handing one to each member of the party. The silver badge felt cold in Noël's palm, engraved with the three-ring symbol of the Pathfinder Guild.

"You delivered more than promised, Voss," Corvus noted, his voice dropping into a serious, measured tone. "However, you should know that Marquess Sterling has already posted a private bounty on your head through the subterranean guilds. Five hundred thousand Tribute for the man in the dark trench coat."

"Half a million," Julian said, looking at Noël. "You can't stay in the High District."

"We were never staying in the High District," Noël replied flatly, Stowing the silver badge inside his vest pocket beside the Chronometer of the Unseen Clerk.

"What are your plans?" Corvus asked.

"The Iron Market," Noël answered. "The subterranean sectors are quiet enough for work."

Corvus nodded slowly. "If you ever require commercial backing in the Middle Ring, House Falcrest's doors remain open."

The party turned away from the gilded carriage, walking toward the lower transit stairs that led back down into the Iron Market district.

As they crossed the boundary into the lower commercial quarter, the clean white marble gave way to damp cobblestones, soot-stained stone tenements, and the heavy thrum of steam-powered engines.

The noise of the crowd faded into the steady hum of mechanical workshops.

Gideon looked around the narrow, shadow-draped alleyways.

"The Syndicate's eyes are everywhere in this market. Now that Sterling's bounty is live, every rogue Pathfinder in the lower ring will be hunting us."

"Let them hunt," Noël said.

He opened his left eye.

His pupil burned with deep violet light as the Gyre Eye activated beneath his brow.

Through his vision, the physical alleyways dissolved into their underlying mana conduits. Three hundred yards ahead, four physical silhouettes stood in the shadows of an old clockwork tower. They wore dark leather coats.

Syndicate trackers, monitoring the descent stairs from the High District.

"Four trackers ahead," Noël reported without turning. "They haven't signaled their main unit yet."

Elara adjusted her grip on her spear.

"Do we engage?"

"No," Noël replied, turning toward a narrow side alley running behind a furnace workshop. "We take the drainage conduit beneath the smithy. It bypasses their visual line."

Tally flew out from beneath Noël's coat collar, adjusting its tiny brass monocle with a gloved paw.

"Boss! The broadcast interface is exploding! Over twenty thousand observers are watching the aftermath stream!"

Noël ignored the interface window.

The party slipped into the dark side alley, their boots making almost no sound against the damp cobblestones.

The initial Trial was over, but the aftermath of their victory had thrown the Middle Ring's power structure into chaos. Marquess Sterling, the Syndicate, and the Capital Academies now knew their faces.

Noël flexed his left hand, feeling the quiet hum of Gyre Ether surging through his veins.

They moved deep into the shadows of the Iron Market, leaving the noise of the Capital behind.

It was a monumental monolithic pillar devoid of windows. Its black surface was carved with thousands of pulsing crimson runes that thrummed with immense weight."The ambient pressure here is three times higher than in the lower towers," Gideon said. He leaned on his right foot, his silver rapier drawn, its white-gold solar ether flickering against the gale. "My ether flow is lagging.""Keep your breathing steady," Noël said, wiping sweat and blood from his chin. High above, the inner ceiling of the Third Spire was Shrouded in indigo mist, crackling with purple lightning."The air Pressure is dropping," Gideon said, leaning against his rapier hilt on the vibrating platform. "My solar ether is reacting strangely to the ambient mana in this shaft."Lyra checked her ether-compass, her brows furrowed beneath her visor."It's not just mana Pressure. The Third Spire has an inverted gravity field. Look at the ledges."Through the swirling indigo mist, thousands of inverted stone pillars hung from the ceiling like giant stalactites, pointing downward into the abyss. Cold abyss wind howled across the narrow stone sky-bridge connecting the First and Second Spires.Eight hundred feet below, sea-clouds of white mana fog churned over the jagged obsidian peaks."The wind resistance on this bridge is fluctuating," Gideon noted, his cloak snapping violently behind him. He kept one hand firmly on the hilt of his silver rapier. "Look at the archways ahead. The Second Spire isn't built from solid stone like the first."Through the swirling haze, the Second Spire loomed before them like a hollow iron cage.Unlike the solid obsidian walls of the First Spire, the Second Spire was composed entirely of thousands of rotating brass gear-platforms, suspended in midair around a pulsing blue energy core."A mechanical puzzle spire," Lyra said, her eyes brightening beneath her helmet visor. She pulled out her brass tuning spanner, her Tier 1 Artificer vision scanning the gear rotations. "The platforms are moving on three independent axis gears. If you step onto a plat
