The Billionaire's Blood

Chief Williams could not believe his eyes. He looked at Damian's face again and again. The same small nose like Jayeola when she was small. The same stubborn eyes.

"Call my driver! We are going to the village NOW!" Chief shouted from his hospital bed. The doctor said he must rest, but Chief did not listen. His daughter, Jayeola, the daughter he thought was dead, was alive.

Damian was confused. "Sir, do you know my mama?"

Chief held Damian's small hand tightly. "Boy, if you are who I think you are, you are not a cleaner. You are the heir to Williams Oil & Gas. You are a billionaire."

That night, Chief, his police escorts, Damian, and two doctors entered three black Prado Jeeps and drove 6 hours back to the village. Damian was directing them.

When they reached the small village, it was 2 AM. The whole village was sleeping. Dogs were barking. The Jeeps could not enter the small bush path, so they parked at the main road and walked with torchlights.

Damian ran first to their small hut. The door was made of zinc.

"MAMA! MAMA!" Damian shouted.

Jayeola woke up, scared. She thought it was Austin coming to beat her again. But when she opened the door, she saw Damian. Then she saw the tall old man behind him with white beard and agbada.

Time stopped.

"Papa?" Jayeola whispered.

Chief Williams fell on his knees and started crying like a small child. A 75-year-old billionaire, crying in the mud.

"Jayeola, my daughter... my daughter... I have searched for you for 13 years. Forgive me, my daughter, forgive me."

Jayeola also fell on the floor, crying. She hugged her father. Austin, who was sleeping inside, woke up and saw the expensive cars and the rich old man. He quickly tried to run away through the back window because he thought they were police.

Chief's security caught Austin.

In the morning, the whole village gathered. Nobody had ever seen such big cars in their village. The village head came with his staff. Everyone was whispering, "Is that not Jayeola's father? The rich man she ran away from?"

Chief Williams stood in front of everyone and announced, "This woman you all laugh at, Jayeola, is my first daughter. This boy you all call poor, Damian, is my grandson. From today, anybody who insults them insults Williams family."

People were shocked. Austin was shaking.

But Chief's happiness did not last. He called his private doctor who came with them. "Doctor, I want a DNA test. I want to be 100% sure this boy is my blood before I announce him to the board."

They did a quick DNA test inside the Jeep. Blood sample from Chief and blood sample from Damian. They sent it to Lagos laboratory with a dispatch rider.

While waiting for the result, Chief took Jayeola and Damian to the best hotel in the nearest city. For the first time in 13 years, Jayeola bathed with hot water, ate chicken, and slept on a soft bed.

Austin was left behind in the village, locked outside the hut.

24 hours later, the result came. The doctor called Chief, "Chief, 99.9% match. He is your grandson. He is a Williams."

Chief shouted with joy and hugged Damian. "You are a billionaire! You are the owner of 40% of my company when I die!"

He immediately called his lawyer in Lagos, "Barrister, prepare the papers. I have found my heir. His name is Damian Williams. Add him as the major heir to Williams Oil & Gas, Williams Hotels, and Williams Estate."

But in Lagos, the news was not sweet for everyone.

Chief had two other sons from his second wife — Kola and Femi. They were 35 and 32 years old, living big in Banana Island, driving Lamborghini, spending Chief's money. They heard that their father found a village grandson.

Kola smashed his glass cup. "A village cleaner? My father wants to give our company to a village cleaner? Over my dead body!"

Femi called their mother, "Mummy, your husband has found Jayeola's bastard son. If we don't act fast, we will lose everything."

Their mother, Lady Williams, was a very wicked woman. She smiled coldly. "Don't worry. The boy will not reach Lagos alive. An accident can happen on the road. A small accident."

Back in the city hotel, Damian was looking out of the window at the big city. He was now wearing new clothes Chief bought for him — a small designer suit worth 300,000 naira. He looked like a small billionaire.

Chief sat beside him. "Damian, from tomorrow, you will not clean plates again. You will go to the best private school in Lagos. You will learn how to become a billionaire. And then, you will go back to that village and show them what a billionaire looks like. That is your revenge."

Damian looked at his mother who was smiling for the first time in years. He clenched his small fist.

"I will, Grandfather. I will make them all kneel. Everyone who slapped my mother. Everyone who laughed at me. I will buy their houses and make them work for me."

Chief laughed loudly. "That is my blood! That is the blood of a Williams! That is the revenge of a billionaire!"

That night, Damian could not sleep. He was no longer the poor boy who was slapped. He was Damian Williams, grandson of Chief Williams, heir to 50 billion naira empire.

But outside the hotel, a black car was parked. Inside the car, two men were watching the hotel with binoculars, talking on the phone.

"Madam, we have seen them. They are in Room 305. Should we proceed tonight?"

And Lady Williams replied from Lagos, "No. Wait until they are on the road to Lagos tomorrow morning. Make it look like an accident."

Damian's billionaire life had just started, and already, someone wanted him dead
