Chapter 22

Athelstan

"Werod?" Athelstan asked, confused.

"The darkness, Your Highness. It is coming back, stronger than before, it will annihilate us all!" he shouted.

Athelstan looked around. People were starting to get scared. The women grabbed their children and started walking away. Damn priest. The prince approached the man, grabbed him by the elbow, then turned him to look him straight in the eye.

"That’s enough, priest!" he called him, almost growling. "I think you’ve done enough damage."

"The truth can never harm anyone," heard another voice behind him.

Athelstan turned to let go of the elbow of the priest, who had begun to complain about the strong grip to which the prince was subjecting him. He saw another priest approach him: the blue tunic that brushed the ground, his hands carried in front and tucked into the long sleeves of his robe. All right, one more.
