Ch.5 - Cultivation Level

This world had a different power system from the world Shu Xiang had lived in before, although there were still some similarities.

In his previous world, where magic dominated the world, there were two classes of mages: Enhancement and Projection.

Enhancement mages utilized their magical energy to strengthen their bodies, increasing their speed, physical abilities, and combat focus for close-quarters combat.

Projection mages, on the other hand, released their magical energy outward, allowing them to unleash attacks with tremendous destructive power.

There was also a rare class of mage known as the Arcane Warrior. They were mages capable of doing both—strengthening their physical bodies while also releasing their magical energy outward.

That was the class Shu Xiang had possessed in his previous life.

In this world, however, there was no such classification. Anyone who cultivated could become an Arcane Warrior after reaching the Saint Rank.

Before reaching the Saint Rank, all cultivators were essentially Enhancement-type fighters.

There was another major difference as well.

Every mage in his previous world possessed their own magical energy attribute, meaning they had an elemental affinity from the very beginning. Because of this, a Projection mage could already transform their magical energy into a specific element.

That was not the case in this world.

Everyone possessed pure energy that could be transformed according to the cultivation techniques they practiced.

This was an incredible advantage.

The cultivation system was divided into seven ranks.

Early — Absorb energy and circulate it throughout the body to strengthen one's physical abilities.

Intermediate — Circulate energy outside the body and use it to coat the skin, greatly increasing one's physical defense. At a certain level, a cultivator could withstand slashes from sharp weapons with nothing more than this layer of energy.

Advanced — Able to channel energy into other objects and strengthen them. This could be done with swords, spears, and even ordinary objects. At a sufficient level, a cultivator could turn a simple leaf into a weapon sharp enough to cut through flesh.

Saint – At this level, cultivators could release their energy just like Projection mages, creating energy slashes and other long-range attacks. Cultivators could also begin training various unique techniques at this level.

King – Cultivators gained much greater freedom in manipulating their energy and attacks. If a Saint-Rank cultivator launched a projection attack, for example, the attack could only travel in the direction it was initially aimed. A King-Rank cultivator, however, could make the attack curve or control its trajectory much more freely.

Emperor — Every physical attribute and attack could be strengthened to another level. Their control over energy would reach its peak, allowing them to even fly through the air.

God — No one knew what this level was truly like, because no one had ever reached it. For that reason, the God Rank was considered nothing more than a myth.

And right now, Shu Xiang was merely a cultivator at the lowest rank.

After using the little Qi energy he possessed to beat Shu Ming, he didn't even have any Qi left.

Shu Xiang left the Shu Family residence and wandered around Shu An City.

Since Shu Xiang rarely left his home, not many people knew what the young master of the Shu Family looked like. As a result, he could walk around peacefully without having people point at him or gossip about him.

Well, even if they did, he wouldn't care.

Eventually, Shu Xiang arrived at the slums of Shu An City.

It was a place where homeless people lived. The area was poorly maintained and filled with the stench of decay and piles of garbage. There were even animal carcasses scattered around, adding an even darker atmosphere to the place.

But this was precisely the kind of place where dark energy was more abundant.

Compared to cultivating at home, Shu Xiang could cultivate three times faster here.

If he wanted to cultivate even faster, Shu Xiang would have to kill people.

But in his current condition, that wouldn't be easy.

Not to mention, if a murder occurred within the city, the city guards would investigate the incident.

Therefore, Shu Xiang spent his time sitting cross-legged beneath a relatively narrow section of a wall, beginning his cultivation in the afternoon and continuing until nightfall.

Shu Xiang opened his eyes and raised an eyebrow when he noticed the darkness that had enveloped the surroundings.

"Oh, it's already night. I was so focused that I completely lost track of time."

Shu Xiang stood up and stretched his body.

Although he had been called a piece of trash who couldn't cultivate, fortunately, Shu Xiang possessed a strong enough mentality.

He had trained his body relentlessly, and by the age of sixteen, he had already developed well-defined muscles.

"I've accumulated quite a lot of energy. At the very least, if Shu Ming challenges me again, I'll be able to fight him."

Shu Xiang was only at the Early Rank, while Shu Ming had already reached the Intermediate Rank. His eldest brother could coat his body with energy, making it difficult for sharp weapons to injure him.

But Shu Xiang possessed the knowledge from his previous life.

He had been the strongest Arcane Warrior in history, and countless techniques were engraved within his mind.

Although the power system in this world was different, the fundamental principles of how energy was utilized remained the same.

"I also need to create my own cultivation manual so that I can completely refine the energy of nature into dark energy. But this is my first time cultivating demonic energy, so naturally, it won't be easy."

Shu Xiang then walked home.
