Ch.6 - First Blood

"Shu Ming, how did you end up like this?" Madam Wei An, the first wife of the Patriarch of the Shu Family, immediately went to see her son after Shu Lin told her that Shu Ming had been injured.

Madam Wei was a woman in her forties, but her face looked much younger than her actual age. Naturally, as the Madam of the Shu Family, she took excellent care of her skin to preserve her beauty.

Madam Wei An loved her eldest son dearly. She had spoiled him since he was a child, providing him with all the resources he needed and giving him her full support.

Now that Shu Ming had become the leading candidate to become the next Patriarch of the Shu Family, Wei An paid even more attention to him. If her son successfully became the Patriarch, her own status would rise along with his.

Shu Ming glared sharply at his younger sister for reporting the matter to their mother. However, Shu Lin simply looked away, ignoring his elder brother's glare.

"Ah, I..."

Shu Ming fell silent for a moment.

‘If I lie, Shu Lin might explain what really happened. I'll be exposed eventually, so I might as well tell the truth.’

"This afternoon, I saw that piece of trash, but he acted insolently, so I intended to teach him a lesson. I just didn't expect him to be able to fight back. I let my guard down."

Although it was humiliating, Shu Ming had no choice but to admit it.

"That piece of trash? You mean Shu Xiang?" Wei An frowned.

"Who else could be the trash in our family if not him?" Shu Lin snorted.

"That damned brat actually dares to do this. Hmph! He made my precious son lie in bed. I'll make sure he ends up the same way!"

Furious, Wei An immediately walked out of her son's room.

"Come, Guard Shui. We're going to teach that trash a lesson!"

Shui was Wei An's personal guard, a woman in her thirties and an Intermediate-level cultivator. She carried a sword in her left hand.

"Yes, Madam Wei."

Shui immediately followed Wei An from behind.

On their way, they saw a young man walking in the distance. Since it was already nighttime, they had to get closer before realizing that the person was actually the one they were looking for—Shu Xiang.

"Shu Xiang, I didn't expect to run into you here. I was just planning to smash down the door of your house if you decided to hide inside."

Wei An looked at Shu Xiang with disgust.

Shu Xiang turned his head and raised an eyebrow when he saw the two women walking toward him. He had memories of both of them, and the woman named Wei An was one of the people Shu Xiang hated the most because she had often humiliated his mother in the past.

Therefore, she was also one of Shu Xiang's revenge targets.

"Ah, Madam Wei. Good evening. Have you already seen my eldest brother? I helped him look a little better."

Shu Xiang smiled amicably.

He knew exactly why Wei An was so angry, so there was no need for him to hide anything. He immediately mocked her, causing the corners of her eyes to twitch in anger.

"You've really become quite bold, haven't you? You used to lower your head in fear whenever you saw me, but now you actually dare to show such disrespect."

"Respect? Honestly, your mouth is far too filthy for you to say something like that."

Shu Xiang continued provoking Wei An.

"Guard Shui! Beat this ungrateful brat! Break one of his arms and one of his legs!"

Unable to contain her anger, Wei An immediately gave the order.

Without hesitation, Shui stepped forward. Energy covered her hand as she attacked, using it like a blade.

However, Shu Xiang dodged every one of her attacks, causing Shui to frown.

She wasn't even using her full speed. Normally, Shu Xiang would have fallen after only a few moves from her.

But now, this young man moved as if he were an entirely different person.

"What are you doing? Hurry up and finish him!" Wei An shouted angrily when she saw that Shui couldn't even touch Shu Xiang.

Shui then thrust her hand forward, intending to pierce Shu Xiang's thigh so that the young man would no longer be able to stand.

But Shu Xiang deliberately lowered his body, causing Shui's thrust to pierce straight into his left shoulder.

It went in quite deeply.

Shui was naturally shocked by this. Before she could react, Shu Xiang grabbed her arm tightly, preventing her from moving, and launched a counterattack.

Shu Xiang did the same thing, covering his hand with energy before thrusting it into Shui's chin.

His hand pierced straight through her mouth and continued deep into her skull, reaching her brain.

"Ah!"

Shui froze.

Her body trembled before becoming completely limp. For a brief moment, she stared at Shu Xiang's face.

His wide grin made her feel as if she were looking at a demon from hell.

Shui's consciousness gradually faded, and she eventually closed her eyes, dying at Shu Xiang's hands.

"A mere guard dares to attack the young master. There is nothing more fitting for her than death."

Shu Xiang pulled his hand out of Shui's head, causing the woman's body to collapse onto the ground.

"Ah, but I don't think this wound is enough."

Shu Xiang picked up Shui's sword and pulled it from its sheath, gazing at the sharp blade as it gleamed under the moonlight.

Without the slightest hesitation, Shu Xiang plunged the sword into his right shoulder, piercing straight through his body.

"This should be enough, shouldn't it, Madam Wei?"

Even after deliberately injuring himself, Shu Xiang continued to wear an unnervingly wide grin.
