Ch.9 - Creating a Cultivation Manual

Shu Xiang immediately returned to his residence after leaving the Medical Hall.

He immediately meditated in his room, intending to do something he had not had the chance to do since returning from the City—create a cultivation manual.

If he succeeded in creating a cultivation manual, he would be able to absorb natural energy more efficiently.

A cultivation manual was a technique that allowed someone to absorb and refine energy more effectively through unique methods. In Shu Xiang's previous world, there were also techniques for absorbing energy known as Arcane Paths. Shu Xiang had created his own Arcane Path, and it was a technique of the highest level.

Unfortunately, because of the differences in his current body's condition and the fact that he cultivated Dark Energy, even his Arcane Path was completely incompatible with his current body. Therefore, he had to create a new one.

Having experience in this field, Shu Xiang understood very well just how difficult it was to create an Arcane Path. If he only wanted to create a simple technique, it would be much easier, but Shu Xiang wanted to create a high-level cultivation manual.

First, Shu Xiang needed to fully understand the condition of his body—its nature, its reactions to the flow of energy, the various points in his body known as meridians, how his Dantian stored energy, and many other things.

He needed to understand all of it.

Fortunately, Shu Xiang had a special method that could make this process easier. Although he was currently circulating energy in reverse, all he needed to do was reverse the method itself.

Shu Xiang began by expelling all the Qi within his body.

It was extremely precious energy that was difficult for him to obtain, yet he expelled all of it until the Qi in his Dantian was completely depleted.

By emptying his Dantian of Qi, his body would become more sensitive to energy.

This caused Shu Xiang to breathe like someone who had just finished running a marathon. He regulated his breathing for a moment before beginning to absorb the energy in the air and refine it.

However, he did not refine this energy into Dark Energy.

Instead, he did the opposite.

He expelled all the Dark Energy within his body and absorbed other forms of energy.

As a result, Shu Xiang's body, which should only have been compatible with Dark Energy, began rejecting the foreign energy.

This caused his body to become weak and tremble, while his breathing became increasingly unstable.

This was the challenge.

If his willpower were weak, he would faint. At that moment, the energy he had absorbed would immediately be expelled due to his body's rejection, causing internal injuries that would become increasingly severe depending on how much energy was expelled.

Shu Xiang, however, had a strong will.

He desperately tried to maintain consciousness while continuously focusing on refining the energy he had absorbed, slowly circulating it throughout his entire body.

His body's rejection allowed Shu Xiang to feel its reaction to the energy much more clearly.

Amidst all the pressure, Shu Xiang had to remember everything. He could not afford to forget even the slightest detail, because otherwise, he would have to repeat the entire process from the beginning.

Several hours passed.

Eventually, Shu Xiang fell backward, lying flat on his back with ragged breathing and a trembling body.

"This is really... exhausting..."

Shu Xiang regulated his breathing for a moment before crawling toward the table in his room. He poured himself a glass of water and drank three glasses in succession.

"Hah..."

Shu Xiang felt extremely relieved before lying down on his bed.

After resting for a minute, he immediately took out some paper and a brush and began writing down all the information he had obtained so that he would not forget it.

However, Shu Xiang did not remember everything.

He had forgotten some details, but he wrote down everything he could remember.

After that, he repeated the same process again.

He continued doing this until he had repeated it three times. Only then did he finally obtain all the information he needed.

Shu Xiang was extremely exhausted afterward, and he eventually fell asleep while it was still afternoon.

When Shu Xiang woke up, it was already midnight.

He could see the light of the full moon shining through the window.

"I'm hungry."

Shu Xiang held his stomach as it growled.

In the past, Shu Xiang could go without eating for an entire week. Because of this, he had become accustomed to ignoring his body's basic needs.

"Haha, it seems I need to change the way I think as well and pay more attention to my various basic needs as a human."

Shu Xiang had not eaten anything since he reincarnated into this world.

Naturally, his stomach was already growling with hunger.

Shu Xiang left his room.

Outside, there was already a tray covered with a woven bamboo lid sitting on the table. It contained the food that was delivered to him regularly three times a day.

Shu Xiang immediately picked up the tray and brought it inside.

Although the food had already gone cold, he still ate everything with great enthusiasm because he was extremely hungry.

He ate alone in the middle of the silent night.

After finishing everything, Shu Xiang placed the tray back on the table outside. The servants would come to collect it the next morning when they delivered his breakfast.

After eating, Shu Xiang did not go back to sleep.

He felt that he had already slept enough and was no longer sleepy. Therefore, he spent the rest of the night beginning to create his cultivation manual using all the information he had recorded.
