Another Vision

Dakota placed his coffee mug on the table, leaning back. Sam gazed at him, anticipating his words. Dakota tends to be reserved about his matters, lost in thought or reminiscing. The burly man felt a deep connection to Dakota's mother, almost as if he had known her for ages. He mentioned that Belinda had brought Dakota's favorite chocolate cake for the kids. However, upon reflection, Belinda had cared for Jon and the other children twenty-five years ago, a time when Dakota had not yet been born, and Kim was merely three years old. Therefore, the cake had existed long before Dakota's time, it was not specifically his. "Hey, Sam, what's on your mind? Why the sudden thoughts about chocolate cake now?"

“Officer Keith thought he would keep all this under wraps for how long, and so did you.”

Dakota's speech made Sam's eyes widen. He was shocked and almost spilled the hot coffee he had just picked up for him to drink.

"Duh" Slowly, Sam put his coffee cup back on the table.
