"What!" He exclaimed.
"Yes sir" the man repeated it again. Why was Richard on the verge of ruining him? He couldn't give an answer to that question. "Okay, you can go," he said, turning back to take his seat. The officer stared at him, shook his head as he pitied Carl. They were all aware of their friendship and how Carl always protect them at the war zone but there was nothing he could do to help, else he might face Richard's wrath which might not end well ★★★ After Carl had rejected Richard's lawyer. He was left alone to face the judgment at the court of law. He knew he would be relieved of his job as Richard would make use of his connection. He was taken from the cell to the court, he was already lean due to different thoughts, depressed heart, sleepless night and unstable emotions. On his way, inside the vehicle, he could see through the window, the beauty of the road and other passer-bys. When the vehicle halted at a point inside the hold up, he could see the public television from the window, where Richard was seen tying knot with Alisha. He jerked off from his thoughts to see them well. It was true! He was hallucinating! Definitely, they have planned everything beforehand. "What the fuck!" He cursed, trying to control his anger. "Did you know commander Richard was getting married today?" He asked the two soldiers that were serving as Security guards for him inside the truck. They both glared at each other and nodded positively to his answer. "Not only that, he was also promoted yesterday evening," one of them added. "That's good of him. He is doing well and I hope he continues to do well" he laughed and clapped his two hands. They looked at him like someone that was already running mad. He can't say the reason for his laughter, maybe because the matter has gone beyond crying. What was apparent was that his mental health has been affected. They soon arrived at the court and without wasting enough time, he was sentenced to five years imprisonment. He had no family or another friend to help him out with the security footage of the hotel and those subordinates that he trusted were all banned from visiting him. As the Prison's warder approached to take him away, a car parked in front of the court. Richard, who was dressed in his wedding suit, came outside, wearing his best smile. "Wow! I'm glad to have made it here soon. I've been thinking of hastening my wedding ceremony, so that I can see you off to the prison since you have nobody to see you off. A son of nobody will eventually go back to his roots. That's your story" he said in a mockery tone as he proudly showed off his wedding ring. Despite Carl being annoyed, he had to maintain his coolness in order to take revenge on him in the future. "The suit looks so good on you but your military uniform would have looked better. Congratulations on your wedding and the promotion. Now, you have a beautiful wife and handsome son to call yours but don't forget that all these are temporary. I'll come back and will make sure you lick my feets to beg for forgiveness'' he pledged as he was about to go but Richard pulled him back. "I'll make the prison of a journey of no return for you. You will never come back cos I know what you are capable of doing if you come back" Richard whispered to him . "I can feel from your voice that you are scared and that's the reason that will make me come back. I'll be back to torment your life and take away everything from you like you did to me. Just watch your back, five years will soon be here" Carl didn't shake and he returned the threat. "We have always known you with energy but I am the one with the right plans. Let's see what the future will hold for both of us. Your fist that couldn't save you didn't know will never save you again. Fool'' Richard said for the last time before he finally left Carl felt like crushing him to pieces and venting out all his anger on him but he stayed calmed. Like a dream, his life took a U-turn within five days and everything that he had labored for, ended up in vain. ★★★★ Five years later. Carl was playing ludo with his cell mate when the warder called him. "Inmate 223" Carl stopped the game and went to his locker to park his things there. "Congratulations dude, you are finally regaining your freedom" his ludo mate giggled as he left. He dropped his prison wear and was given back all his belongings, which included his phone. His stature was still hefty, his abs were visible, only his hair was bushy. "Now, let the revenge journey begin" he was determined as he vacated the prison Yard. He stayed outside for a while, waiting for any available cab. The prison was located in a remote area, so it was somehow hard to see a moving cab unless the driver brought someone there After he patiently seated for thirty minutes, he was lucky to see a cab, moving towards the Prison's direction. Without wasting another second, he stopped the cab and hopped in, giving the person address. The journey started and already continued for ten minutes when the driver made a call "Yes boss" he answered, then hung up the call Carl noticed the eye contact from the front mirror and that was when his brain started thinking about the whole journey. The cab came to the prison without dropping someone? Why would a cab come all the way there without bringing a passenger? Being in the military for ten years, he sensed someone was wrong somewhere. "Who are you?" He questioned but the driver behaved like he didn't hear him. "Are you deaf? Who the heck are you and who sent you?" He asked again, with his tone roaring like a hungry Lion. The driver refused to answer and Carl stood up from his seat, trying to knock him, so that he could stop driving. He managed to find his way to the front and both started dragging the car's steering. The driver also has enough energy, likewise Carl. The dragging continued till Carl suddenly felt a pain beside his abdomen. The driver has stabbed him with knife "Fuck!" He cursed and got a bit distracted. That was when the driver stepped on the brake and the car came to halt. Both Carl and the driver got down. His side was bleeding and he had to use his face cap to stop the bleeding by placing it on the injury Almost immediately they stepped out, another car joined them. Carl was anticipating the person that was coming out of the car and he wasn't amazed to see Richard again. "Congratulations palz, I intentionally came here to congratulate you on your freedom" he bursted into laughter as he came out "I know you will not back off until you see the end of my life but I wasn't expecting you to use this cheap method. When do you start stooping so low to achieve your aim?" He chuckled which seemed not to have any effect on Richard. He was fully prepared for the time. "You might not notice but I always stoop so low to achieve my goals from the beginning. I could have kill you with food poisoning or any other related method in the prison but I want you to finish your sentence, which you have done. I've been your friend for ten years and I know what you are capable of doing, which one of it is coming back for revenge and of course, I wouldn't allow that to happen. Not when I'm living happily with my wife, two kids and also contesting for next year's senatorial election. I need to put an end to this once and for all" Richard answered, bringing out a small gun from his pocket. Carl was confused. His cap has been soaked with the blood from the King's stabbing and here he is, with a gun pointed at him Dying when his dreams haven't been achieved would hurt him more in the afterworld. He took a glance at the environment. They were on a bridge with the ocean underneath. Judging with his instinct, he might not survive jumping inside the river with the wound at his side. He was trying to step back, hoping Richard wouldn't shoot. All he could was to hope since he can't beg him. Even if he does, it will not change anything. When he got to the edge of the bridge and there was no other place to go, Richard let out a devilish smirk. "So, what would you do now? Obviously, nothing but it's not too late. I may spare your life if you can go down on your knees, beg me and sign a letter of agreement that we will not cross paths again. I'll be merciful enough to give you some cash and you will leave the country for me. Will you do that or I should kill you and forget your existence? Don't forget that you still have long years to leave" he advised, offering him another option to stay alive. "I'll never beg you. I'd rather die than to beg an Ingrates and betrayal like you" Carl responded, screaming on top of his voice and hissing in pain. "Then I shall fulfill Your wish. Goodnight, until we met on the path no more" Richard pulled the trigger, landing the bullet on his chest as Carl jumped into the ocean. He didn't stop shooting till Carl's body landed into the deep water. "His stubbornness and pride has landed him in the realm of the dead. What a good friend he was " he cleaned his hands and threw the gun into the ocean too, then turned back to leave the scene.Latest Chapter

Then realization struck him. Andrew. The card belonged to Andrew. Or perhaps Benjamin. He had no idea how these wealthy people's bank cards worked.Maybe it required a password, maybe it needed activation, maybe there were restrictions. Whatever the reason...He had no clue. Unfortunately...Andrew wasn't here. Earlier, he himself had insisted Andrew and the hidden bodyguards keep their distance. Now he couldn't even ask what was wrong. He sighed inwardly. Talk about bad timing. The saleswoman remained extremely polite. "Sir, would you like to try another payment method?"Carl smiled bitterly. "I only have this card." He didn't bring his bank card with him, afterall he'd been abducted in broad day light the other day. "I understand." Despite the failed transaction, she showed no trace of impatience. She simply stood there quietly. Completely different from the previous salesman. He appreciated that. At least she treated customers with respect. Outside the store, however, the first sa

The sales assistant frowned and looked Carl up and down."You were actually planning to buy something?" he asked seriously. Then he muttered under his breath,"I doubt you've ever even stepped into a luxury store before, let alone bought anything from one. Hmph... all talk."Of course, he kept his voice low enough that most people wouldn't hear him.Although he didn't think Carl was worth his time, he didn't dare make it too obvious. If he openly treated a customer badly and someone reported him, he could lose his job.Even so, Carl could easily tell what the man was thinking."Of course I came here to buy something," Carl replied calmly. "If not, why would I be here? But congratulations, you've successfully driven away a customer."The sales assistant forced out a dry laugh and waved his hands awkwardly."Ah, why would I chase away a customer? You must have misunderstood me."He quickly put on an apologetic smile."If I've done anything to offend you, then I sincerely apologize." Whi

Carl entered the luxury vehicle whose door had been respectfully opened for him.The moment he settled into the comfortable leather seat, the door closed softly behind him. A few seconds later, the convoy began moving. He glanced out the window, then he glanced again. The more he looked, the more weird he felt. In front of his vehicle were several luxury cars, and also behind his vehicle were even more luxury cars.Every of the car moved in perfect formation. The entire convoy occupied a significant portion of the road.He couldn't help feeling slightly embarrassed. It should be that he was more amused. "I look like some important government official."Andrew sat opposite him, and remained silent even after hearing him. He chuckled. "No, seriously."Still silence."Or maybe a president."Andrew continued to say nothing. Carl rubbed his chin with a sigh. Talking to Andrew was truly exhausting. Fortunately, he had expected this and had long grown accustomed to it. Since the estate w

Since his dignity had already been thrown to the ground, he decided to go with the flow. Besides, these men worked for Benjamin. It wasn't like he would keep seeing them after he left this place.Thinking about it, the last time he had gone shopping was months ago. Back when Vivian was still around. Since then, his life had become increasingly busy and stressful, except for the one week break he gave himself. One thing after another kept happening. Treating patients, studying medicine, designing his medicine room, and meeting Louis.Everything had happened so fast that he barely had time to think. Shopping had never even crossed his mind. Now that he thought about it, he really had been wearing the same few outfits over and over again. He felt slightly embarrassed.Only slightly, there was no way he was admitting that out loud."Still not going," he said firmly.Andrew wasn't surprised at all. In fact, he looked like he had expected that answer. "Mr. Benjamin insists."He rolled his e

He gave up. There was simply no point. Benjamin would return this weekend anyway. Even if Carl somehow escaped the estate, Andrew would probably track him down before he reached the front gate. The thought was depressing, and his mood got ruined instantly. With Andrew's words, he no longer has any interest in strolling anymore. He turned around heading back for his room "I'm leaving."Andrew immediately replied. "I know."Carl stopped. "...Back to my room.""I know."Carl clenched his fists. This man was definitely doing it on purpose. He had to be. Nobody could naturally be this irritating. Gia quickly stepped forward before the situation escalated further. "Young Master Carl, shall we return?"He glanced at the smiling maid. Compared to Andrew, Gia suddenly seemed like an angel."Let's go."The two began walking away. Behind them, Andrew remained standing, while watching them leave silently, until he could no longer sight them. Meanwhile, Carl didn't bother looking back. His mood

The maid looked ahead, and he followed her gaze. His expression immediately changed.A familiar figure was standing near a stone pavilion. Tall and well dressed with his usual calm demeanor. It was Andrew. Carl blinked twice. For a moment, he almost thought he was imagining things. After all, Andrew had been missing since yesterday.Andrew noticed them almost immediately. Their eyes met across the garden, and a smile appeared on his face. Not the formal smile he usually wore. This one looked genuine. He couldn't help but wonder if it was because he'd been brought here?"Young Master Carl." Andrew walked over, his hands tuck in his pocket. Carl rolled his eyes. "There it is again."Andrew chuckled. "What?""The title."Andrew's smile widened. "I'm afraid everyone has already accepted it."Carl groaned. This estate was hopeless. Still… as he walked toward Andrew, he couldn't deny something. Seeing the man unexpectedly made him feel relieved. At least now, there was finally someone aro
