Chapter 4

Carl was trekking with other people into a direction, which was located in another world. They were all in a queue and there was a door at the edge of the queue, where people enter into the other world. It was called a door of no return.

Carl has lost it and was about to enter like others that he met there when he suddenly heard a voice

"Carl!" The feminine voice roared throughout the place

Carl took a pause and turned back. He was shocked to see an old woman, who was also looking elegant despite her old age, standing.

"Granny" he immediately called and went to meet her.

"Where are you going?" His granny inquired.

"I have no idea, granny. I met myself here and decided to follow others" he answered, looking excited to see his granny.

"This is the path to the other world and you ain't allowed to cross over yet. If you entered through that door, there is no chance of going back for you" she said, pointing at the door of no return.

"You ain't supposed to die now. Our family power was passed to you for a reason. It belonged to your great grandfather and you must use it wisely. Now, go back to the world of living. Go and rescue people with the power and take revenge on your enemies " the woman instructed with her tone filled with authority.

"Which power are you talking about and how will I make use of it?" He asked, feeling confused.

"You have a few seconds to leave here. When you get there, you will figure out a way" his granny yelled at him and without hesitation, he left immediately.

"He is breathing fine now. I think he is alive"

"Really? That's a great news then"

Those were the voices that Carl heard from his deep sleep. He was sure to have heard those voices.

He slowly opened his life as he just got another chance to live .

"He is awake!" The little girl ran out to call her mother. She sounded excited.

"Are you sure he is awake? I just left his side not quite long ago" her mother doubted as she ran inside with the little girl to check on Carl.

Carl's eyes were widely opened, though his mind wasn't there. He was busy thinking about his granny's words, which kept ringing inside his head.

"Which power was she talking about?" He murmured loudly.

"Hey! Are you alright?" The woman asked, tapping him by his shoulder. She appeared to be in her mid twenties.

Carl jerked away from his thoughts and glared at the strange environment.

He immediately stood up and sat on the bed, still amazed.

"Who are you?" He found his voice to ask her a question.

"Gosh! I wasn't expecting this" the little girl scoffed, feeling disappointed

"It's okay, Angel" her mother instantly cautioned her

"I'm Doctor Vivian. My daughter and I saw you near the ocean when we went out to have fun. You appeared to be lifeless and your breathing was faint. I couldn't take you to the hospital since I had no idea about your personality. Maybe you ran away or something but my daughter convinced me to bring you home for treatment, which we did" Vivian explained what happened to him.

"Oh, thank you for that. But for your information, I am not a criminal, so you have nothing to worry about, not for now " he replied, feeling thankful that there was a person that could help him, at least.

"What's your name? Mine is Angel and I'm four years old" the little girl stretched her hand for a handshake.

"Angel! Have some manners, please " her mother cautioned immediately, making Carl grin.

If Jayden wasn't taken from him, he was also brilliant and intelligent.

"It's okay, Doctor Vivian. I'm Carl's name " Carl retorted and told Angel's hand to shake.

"Let me check your injury. The bullet hit three different spots and I also found a knife injury. You will need to explain yourself later in order to convince me that I'm you ain't a criminal with a gun injury. I've removed the bullet, which made you sleep for seven days but I need to sanitize the heart injury all the time to avoid getting infected, since it's at a delegate place, closer to your heart" Vivian approached him with her tools.

As she was unwrapping the bandage, Carl's couldn't stop recalling the scene where he was shot by Richard.

"What the heck happened?" Vivian suddenly yelled and the tools that she was holding fell down.

Fortunately, Angel was not inside the room any longer.

"W-wh-what happened? Why did you shout?" Carl questioned Vivian, who had already covered her mouth, using her two hands due to the shock.

She could only point at his chest, which she just unwrapped.

Carl took a glimpse at it and instantly stood on his feets. He was also amazed and was in awe.

"W-wh-what happened to my body? Where did the injuries go?" He asked no one in particular as he was also shocked.

All his injuries are already healed and there were no traces of any injury on his body, even the ones that were there before, when he was in the army.

"Are you a demon?" Vivian finally found her voice to Inquire.

"No! How could you say that! Do I look like a demon?" He hurriedly rebuked it.

"Then, what are you if you ain't a demon, hun? When I was treating you, I saw so many scars on your body, which were surgery knife or bottle scar but I discarded the negative thought and treated you, now they have all disappeared? Not even a scar left? Tell, what are you if you ain't a demon? Else, I'll call the cops to report you since it's risky to keep you at home" she threatened and wanted to reach her phone but Carl immediately ran to her.

"Don't call the cops, I don't want anything to do with them, not at this time" he begged.

He was confused, likewise Vivian.

"If you don't want me to report to the cops, then tell me about you. I can't continue keeping a demon in my house when I have a daughter and I'm also staying alone. What if you wake you in the middle of night and request blood? Where do you want me to get that?" She ranted, apparently scared.

"Okay, okay. It's okay. I'll leave your house. Thanks for your help so far" he said as he tried to button up his shirt. He was left with no other option than to vacate the house.

He was still buttoned up when Angel walked in. She noticed how frightened her mother was and as a brilliant child, she glared at Carl, knowing he was the reason.

"Wow! He has some super natural power. His injuries are gone" she Exclaimed, feeling excited unlike her mother.

Vivian tried to cover her face, preventing her from seeing such a scary scene but it was already too late.

"Mom, we should keep him. He is such a genius. I heard about people like him from my teacher" Angel excitedly said.

"Shhh! You are too young for this, okay? And what your teacher told you might just be a fantasy to make her teaching interesting" Vivian tried to convince her daughter.

"Is he leaving? If his scars can disappear, then he should be able to treat my friend, Helen" Angel muttered what her mom sees as rubbish.

"Hey!" She called, pulling Carl by his shirt.

"Can you do that? Helen has been sick for a while and she is my only friend. I feel bored without her at the creche. She was said to have been diagnosed with a life threatening disease, can you please treat her with your mighty power?" She requested.

Carl Looked at the little girl, who sounded pitiful. He could have offered to help but he was also confused about the whole thing.

"It's okay, Angel. Let him go" Vivian pulled her away from Carl.

Carl faked a smile as he was not happy and he caressed her cheek gently.

"Your polo" Angel called his attention to his disorganized shirt.

He was about to adjust it when his hand mistakenly touched the necklace that was on his neck.

"Family inheritance?" His mind recalled the conversation that he had with his granny when he was unconscious.

At that time, he was already outside Vivian house, still in deep thought about the necklace.

It was the only thing he remembered giving to him by his granny after his grandfather died.

Truly, his grandfather was a herbalist, who treated people using the power of nature.

His father died when he was two years old and he was told that his mother died after he was delivered, leaving him to stay with his grandparents.

"Was she talking about this necklace?"

Do I need to start healing people like my grandfather did? He lived in a small remote village in the countryside, where there was just a primary health center but lacked medical practitioners, making his father the healer of his village.

But Carl was in a big city, where herbs were not recognized. Hospitals are everywhere, treating people from their ailments.

"Hell no! There is no way I'm doing this. This is the twenty -first century and things like this are no longer recognized" he concluded.

"Are you normal? Who are you to dictate what to do? Did you hear about the little girl Angel told you about?I'm referring to her friend that needs your help. Her blood will be on your neck if you fail to treat her and her spirit will hunt you forever!"

He suddenly heard his granny's voice inside his head. He jerked and took a look at the environment but he saw nothing. It appeared like he was hallucinating.

"Her ghost will haunt me forever? Is this real?" He asked himself, failing to think of the next action to take.

He touched the necklace again.

"Dear necklace, what should I do?" He mumbled, trembling as he was feeling restless.

"Save the world!" The voice came again.

"Gosh! I've finally lost it" he murmured, taking a seat in front of Vivian's house, looking confused and exhausted.

Worse still, he couldn't believe he had dozed off on the sofa right beside this troublesome brat.Argh! If anger could kill, Carl would have died a hundred times over in the span of a few seconds."His name is Louis... Louis..." Carl muttered while staring at the sleeping figure. "Can't you just do your job and leave, huh?"A moment later, he shook his head.Forget it. It's not like he can hear me.Rolling his eyes, Carl headed to his room for a shower. After getting dressed for the day, he went into the kitchen to prepare a quick breakfast.Since he was only

While waiting for Louis to return, and with nothing else occupying his time, Carl picked up his phone and began scrolling through it.A moment later, he checked his bank balance.“Argh! Carl, you're going broke!”After doing a quick calculation, he realized he only had around ten thousand dollars left.As for where all his money had disappeared to, he knew exactly why. That so-called largest medical supply store in the city had practically robbed him blind. They had completely drained his wallet. And then there was the room renovation.Carl had never imagined he would spend so much money furnishing a single room. Still, he had no intention of stopping midway. If he was doing it, then it had to be done properly.Rubbing his temples, he sighed heavily.Being poor wasn't pleasant. But being flat broke was even worse.“What can I do? What can I do...?” Carl muttered, staring thoughtfully at the ceiling.Suddenly, his eyes lit up.“Ah! I know.”He immediately sat upright. The next moment,

“Hello, who are you?” Carl asked, his face filled with confusion as he stood at the doorway staring at the blond-haired man before him. His mood was already sour after being dragged out of bed by the relentless ringing of the doorbell. The blond-haired man seemed completely oblivious to Carl’s frown. He casually brushed past him and walked straight into the house as if he owned the place.“Hey, I’m Louis. We chatted yesterday. I’m the furnisher,” he said as he made himself comfortable on the sofa.Without sparing Carl’s stunned expression a glance, he dropped his black backpack beside him.“You’re really the person I spoke with yesterday?” Carl asked again, disbelief evident in his voice.“Mhm.” Louis nodded. “Didn’t Fatty show you my picture?”“Heh? Fatty? Who’s that?” Carl blinked in confusion.“Fatty is the one who introduced me to you. My maternal uncle.” Louis shrugged, stretching his arms across the back of the sofa. From that description, Carl immediately realized he was talkin

Carl walked out of the store but didn't leave right away. His gaze drifted toward the security post, and after a brief hesitation, he headed in that direction."Hello, can I ask you something?" he asked the security guard."Sure." The guard nodded."I'm looking for someone who furnishes rooms. Do you know anyone?"Before approaching the guard, Carl had spent some time debating whether he should search online for someone to help design his medicine room. However, after giving it some thought, he decided it would be better to ask someone directly and get a recommendation."Hmm..."Carl stood quietly to the side, patiently waiting while the guard thought."Oh, yeah. I can give you his contact information. If you need his services tomorrow, he'll definitely come," the guard finally said confidently.Carl felt relieved upon hearing that, but he couldn't help being curious about the man's confidence."How do you know him?"He wanted to be certain that the person being recommended was reliab

“Excuse me, are you talking to me?” Carl turned toward the middle-aged pharmacist. His expression remained calm and polite because he chose to believe those rude remarks weren't directed at him.“Hmph. Of course I'm talking to you. Who else is acting so arrogantly? Everyone has been staring at you, yet you keep piling up medicines as if nobody else exists.”At the pharmacist words, Carl glanced around.Sure enough, the pharmacist wasn't exaggerating.Almost every customer in the pharmacy had paused what they were doing and was staring at him with obvious disdain.Scoff!“And how exactly is that any of your business?” Carl shot back coldly. “I'm here to shop, just like everyone else. If you don't like the way I do things, then ignore me or leave. Either way, it has nothing to do with me.”His voice carried a trace of anger. What kind of nonsense was this?Under normal circumstances, he might have politely explained that he wasn't being arrogant.
