It was impossible to deny what stood before them.
That thing was an XCP.
The creature advanced slowly, its long, grotesque legs dragging across the floor, while the students stood frozen, paralyzed by pure fear.
"Run!!! We can't let that thing kill us!!!"
Chris's voice cracked like a whip, snapping them out of their trance. Without thinking, he grabbed a fire extinguisher from the wall and hurled it at the monster.
CLANG!
The extinguisher struck the creature, barely making it flinch — but it was enough. As if a switch had been flipped, the students bolted, scattering through the gym doors like rats escaping a sinking ship.
The creature twisted its head unnaturally, its white, bulbous eyes swiveling as it scanned the chaos.
And then... it picked its prey.
Candace.
Everyone knew Candace wasn't athletic. She wasn't built for running — or anything physical, really. And somehow, that thing knew it too.
It lunged after her down the halls.
"NO... NOOO! GET AWAY FROM ME!!!"
Candace cried out as she sprinted with everything she had. But her body betrayed her — fear overwhelmed her, sweat matted her hair to her face, and her steps grew clumsy and desperate.
Meanwhile, the creature moved like it was gliding, its massive strides easily closing the distance.
Then — she stumbled.
Candace hit the floor hard, sobbing and crawling backward helplessly.
"No... no, no, stay away!!!"
The XCP loomed over her, savoring the fear radiating from its prey. Raising one grotesque arm, its limb morphed, twisting into a deadly spear.
"Think fast!"
THWACK!
A baseball came out of nowhere, slamming into the monster's face.
"You really thought you could mess with one of my students?"
The voice rang out with unshakable authority.
It was Professor William.
He carried Jasper strapped to his back and held a baseball bat firmly in one hand.
The creature hesitated, turning its hollow, hateful gaze toward the man who radiated a strange, unbreakable confidence.
"Hey, Candace. You think you can carry Jasper?" William asked, never taking his eyes off the monster.
"I—I don't think I can, Professor," she stammered, still trembling.
"Then run. The school's being evacuated."
"But what about you...?"
"RUN!"
Candace scrambled to her feet and fled, too scared to argue.
"I'm sorry, Jasper," William muttered, adjusting the boy on his back. "I'll have to drag you into danger a little longer."
"You noticed, huh?" William smirked at the creature. "That's why you're hesitating."
The monster remained still, its instincts screaming"
that man was dangerous.
"Well, if you won't attack... I'll go first."
William lunged forward.
The XCP reacted instantly, slashing its spear-like arm, but William blocked with the bat and, in one smooth motion, kicked the creature square in the face.
It lashed back, trying to stab him from behind, but William spun midair, flipping over its grotesque body with acrobatic grace.
Tch. If my team were here, you'd already be down. But they're almost here… I just have to hold out.
"Professor...?" Jasper stirred, his voice groggy but growing stronger.
No time to answer.
The creature lunged again, but William raised his bat, swinging it in front of him.
BOOM BLASTS!
Sharp waves of compressed air exploded from the swing, slamming into the XCP and staggering it.
Not wasting a second, William hammered the monster's legs, forcing it to stumble, and took off running.
"Professor! What's happening!? Wasn't this just a dream?!" Jasper shouted, now fully awake.
"I'll explain later! Right now, stay hidden!" William barked.
He skidded to a stop at the infirmary and placed Jasper down carefully.
"Treat your wounds here. You were lucky — no major injuries. Stay in this room. No matter what happens."
"Wait! What IS that thing? Who are YOU?! Since when do teachers fire air blades?!" Jasper demanded, panicked.
"Sorry Jasper, this is not the time.," William said, peeking down the hall.
The creature had found them again.
"Stay inside."
Without waiting for a reply, William slammed the infirmary door shut.
"Seriously... you're still moving after that hit?" William muttered, gripping his broken bat like a sword. "Annoying bastard... and I don't even get paid overtime."
The XCP wasn't amused by his humor. It lunged, its arm shaped like a spear.
William slid under it with ease, counterattacking — only for the monster to transform its face, morphing a massive mouth that bit clean through the bat.
CRUNCH.
"Ahh, crap... you're one of the smart ones," William cursed, backing off.
The creature spat out the bat's remains, its face returning to its blank, faceless mask.
"I get it... you think I need the bat to fight you," William said, pulling something from his shirt pocket — a pair of glasses.
"You're wrong."
"Let's dan...."
"PROFESSOR WILLIAM!!!"
The shout echoed down the hallway — Michael, sprinting toward them, terror in his voice.
"Michael, get back!!!" William roared.
But the distraction was fatal.
The XCP struck, slamming William to the floor with a brutal strike.
"Professor!!!"
Michael froze, watching in horror.
"What the hell are you doing here, Michael?!" William growled, forcing himself back to his feet.
"I—I couldn't find Jasper!!! Candace said you had him!!!"
The creature didn't wait. It shot an arm forward, snatching Michael by the legs and lifting him like a ragdoll.
"NOOOO! Professor, HELP!!!" Michael screamed, kicking wildly in the air.
"Shit — seriously?! A hostage?!" William cursed, rummaging his pockets again. "Where the hell are my damn glasses?!"
The XCP, seizing the opportunity, hoisted Michael even higher, until the boy dangled upside down.
And then — it let go.
FUCK!!!!
William sprinted, but it was a trap — the monster hurled its spear-arm again, stabbing William's leg without mercy.
ARGHHH!!!
The professor collapsed, unable to move.
"NO! NO! NO!!!"
Inside the infirmary, Jasper watched in helpless horror.
His body screamed in pain, but his heart screamed louder.
He extended his hand, pure instinct driving him —and his arm stretched.
Same as XCP
Unnaturally, impossibly, it stretched out and caught William just before he slammed into the ground.
"Huh?! Wha—what the hell?!"
Jasper stared at his arm, disbelief written across his face.
CRAAACK!!!
Before he could even process what was happening, the roof above them exploded.
Six figures, dressed in white tactical gear, dropped from the sky like angels.
The one in the center, a woman with short hair and sharp eyes, stepped forward.
"Apologies for the delay, Agent 3887," she said, her voice like ice.
She pulled a tablet from her belt, scanned it quickly, and pointed toward the creature.
"Team, we have two active anomalies. 6567, 8987 — you're with me. We neutralize the faceless XCP."
Then her cold gaze shifted.
Her finger pointed at Jasper.
"The rest of you — secure him."

All the people in the bar looked at Jasper with caution; they didn’t like the challenge.“A duel of fire shots? You must be the copier Lidia told me about,” Felix said as he downed a shot of tequila.“Well then, let’s do it. Dawn is close—how about you sit down and have a drink?” said the wide-brimmed-hat man as he threw a chair at Jasper.Jasper, in response, simply looked at it and then refocused his gaze on the other sheriff in the place. His expression made everything clear.“Hey! Have you lost your mind?” Lidia finally shouted.“It’s obvious this is just a way to buy time. They’re surely going to bring all their XCP-hunter companions and hunt everyone down.”“Hey, if we had wanted to call for backup, we would have already done it, Miss Ice, don’t you think?” I18 said mockingly.“They’re right about that, Lidia. If this organization is like White Skull said, I don’t see the need for them to come back, much less for a duel,” one of the inhabitants commented calmly.“But no, there a

"SHHH!"A large white light appeared inside an inn in Ash Hollow. Within seconds, the light split into six different parts."SHSHHS!"Abruptly, the parts scattered at high speed. The sounds of impacts followed immediately.Bam!"Ash, Neo 7, I told you to do it properly!" Slavik complained after crashing into a painting."At least you hit the wall..." Lin commented; he had crashed into a table."Did you copy Neo 8’s ability? Good idea, Neo 7," F16 said as he got back on his feet."Yes, although I don’t fully control it yet. It was something I came up with on the spot. The plan itself was pretty simple," Jasper began to explain."We had a confrontation with an XCP with ice-based abilities in Gallows Creek. We managed to escape thanks to Neo 8, but we couldn’t afford to take that risk again.""So I asked her to explain her ability to me. Her explanation was hard to follow, but I understood the core of it: her power is a distortion of reality based on the meaning she assigns to the words
Chapter 18: Cursed City(End)
All the inhabitants aimed their weapons at the Neo X group.“Great, now we’re surrounded. Where are Snow and Slavik? We need them,” Suse said, looking around cautiously.“We don’t have time to call them, Neo 4. I can endure the pain from the shot,” F16 commented, looking at Felix.“Take care of them. I’ll keep an eye on the lord of flames,” F16 ordered as he pulled the bullet out of his shoulder.“You didn’t need to tell me, I was already planning to. Give me three seconds.” Suse stepped forward, her shining katana dazzling.“Die!” the creature said as it fired.Bam!As soon as she heard the shot, Suse changed the number in her eyes from 44 to 100, slicing the bullet in half with her katana. The girl didn’t waste time and began to accelerate, shifting the frames from 100 to 150.“One second,” the girl thought, starting to cut down several of those who were supposed to be the inhabitants of Gallows Creek.“Two seconds.”She moved to the left, taking down three more opponents in an insta

“What’s going on? It’s like they’ve seen a ghost,” the man mocked as he kept conjuring fire in his hands.Suse scanned the place with her eyes. It was strange. People were watching the scene, but no one was scared—it was as if they didn’t care.“If you’re revealing yourself, that means you plan to turn yourself in, right?” F16 asked, taking another sip of his cocktail.“Hey, I’m the justice around here. That’s supposed to be my line,” the sheriff replied sarcastically.“But I got tired of leaving behind charred corpses. This time, I want to talk to you. Even if I kill you, they’ll just send another group, and it’ll be the same hassle.”F16 noticed he wasn’t lying. He finished his drink, stood up, and left a few coins on the table.“Let’s talk outside then,” he said as he walked out.The man with the wide-brimmed hat smiled broadly as he followed him.“That’s what I like to see. I knew I could reason with you.”Suse and Lin decided to follow them. If things went well, the XCP might sur
Chapter 16: Cursed City(4)
Neo 8’s body didn’t take long to completely collapse onto the ground. Along with her, the bubble finally shattered like broken glass, dissolving into fragments of energy that faded in the air.Jasper stared at the scene, stunned. His mind had gone blank; he still wasn’t used to this. To the idea of losing someone like that.“Bam!”Seizing the opportunity, Lidia fired at him, ready to add another Neo X to her list of corpses.“Hey, asshole, focus!” Slavik shouted, deflecting the attack with his gloves.“Look, we can cry and feel bad for the kid later, but we won’t be able to do that if we’re dead. Do you understand?” Slavik said coldly.Jasper clenched his teeth in rage as he forced himself to regain his composure.“I’m going to kill you, you bitch!” he shouted, pointing at Lidia.“I must admit, out of everyone they’ve sent, you’re the most entertaining,” the sheriff mocked, finally putting some distance between them.“Jasper, we’ll have to retreat. We had no information on this enemy.
Chapter 15: Cursed City(3)
"I can't believe they sent a bunch of kids to capture us. Ha, they really are desperate," Lidia mocked the group. The skin on her face began to deform as her nails took on a strange blue color. In just a few seconds, her face was nothing more than a skull from which an unusual and striking blue hair sprouted, which she wore as if it were real hair."Kids? I hope you regret those words," Slavik replied in an arrogant tone.He lunged at the woman with agility, and in response, she pulled a shotgun from her belt. The weapon had already been modified—parts of ice covered the barrel."Bam!""Bam!""Bam!"Three shots were fired in the direction of Neo 6, who, standing just a few meters in front of Lidia, spun his electric staff to defend himself, barely managing to deflect each bullet.Without giving her time for another round, Slavik closed the distance and swung his weapon at Lidia. She tried to block the blow with her arms, jumping backward and sliding across the frozen ground."Shit, hey
