Nathaniel's jaw locked tight. That letter would kill any chance he had of fighting this in court later. It would seal the deal permanently. But even if he tried to fight it, the video would still destroy him.
He had no way out.
He grabbed a piece of paper and started writing. His hand shook the entire time. When he finished, he threw the pen down and shoved the letter across the bed.
Damian picked it up, read it, then folded it carefully and put it in his pocket along with the signed contract.
"Good. Now we're done. You can have her. I'll take what I want. And we'll go our separate ways."
He turned toward the door.
Megan's voice cracked behind him. "So this is what I mean to you? After everything? You're just going to throw me away like I'm nothing?"
Damian stopped. He didn't turn around. Just looked at her over his shoulder.
"Oh." His voice was flat. Empty. "You don't even know what's coming for you. This is just the beginning."
He looked at Nathaniel next. "A betrayer gets what they deserve."
Then he walked out.
The moment Damian stepped onto the street, the cool night air hit his face. The rain had stopped. The city lights reflected off the wet pavement, casting everything in a soft glow.
Then he heard it.
A sound. Clean. Clear. Like a chime ringing inside his head.

Damian stopped walking. He pulled out his phone and opened his banking app.
The number on the screen made his breath catch in his throat.
Five million dollars.
It was real, he stared at it for a long moment. Then he clenched his fists tight.
For so long, he'd been at the bottom. Invisible. Powerless. Stepped on by people like Nathaniel and Megan. But not anymore.
That version of him was dead.

Nathaniel sat in the room with his hands gripping the armrest of his chair so tight that his knuckles had turned completely white. Megan was still pacing around the room like a woman who had lost her mind because she couldn't believe what had just happened to them. She couldn't believe that someone had actually walked into their house, sat down right in front of them, and bashed them without any fear or hesitation. He didn't just catch them off guard, no, he completely dunked on them, made them agree to every single thing he wanted, and they couldn't even lift a finger to stop him. The thought of it made her chest burn with so much anger that she felt like she was going to explode.
Nathaniel wasn't doing any better either. He was just sitting there with his jaw clenched so hard that it looked like his teeth were going to crack any second now. He was deliberately angry, the kind of angry that made a man's whole body shake from the inside out, and he couldn't stop thinking about what had just gone down inside the house.
Megan suddenly stopped pacing and turned to face him with fire blazing in her eyes.
"Is this what you're actually going to do? Are you going to just let him go like that?" Her voice came out sharp and cutting like a knife.
"Just imagine what he did here, Nathaniel. He made you stay silent, walked in here and collected the best property you had, the best of them all, and now we are just sitting here doing absolutely nothing. They are just staying there without lifting a single finger. Why? Why are we staying here without doing anything? Are you really just going to let him walk away like that?"
Nathaniel finally looked up at her with cold, dark eyes that had no warmth left in them.
"No, I'm not. You just have to relax and think about this properly. If I refused to give him what he asked for right there in that moment, then who knows what he would have done? He could have posted all those things online and destroyed everything I've worked so hard to build, and I wouldn't want that to happen at all. Remember, the election is fast approaching, it's right around the corner, and my credibility matters more than anything else at this moment in time. That's the only reason I gave him what he wants, but that doesn't mean I will just fold my hands and do nothing about it."
He stood up slowly from his seat with a look on his face that could freeze fire.
"I will not fold my hands and do nothing about it. I know exactly what is going to destroy him. I know what is going to crush him completely and leave nothing behind. You have nothing to worry about, Megan. As I'm speaking to you right now, my men are already in motion. They are going to find that good-for-nothing bastard and make him pay for every single thing he did here today. They are going to get him on his knees and make him beg for mercy. Not just on his knees though. They are going to kill him. He deserves to die for what he did."
Hearing those words come out of his mouth made Megan nod her head quickly with a satisfied smile spreading across her face.
"Yes, absolutely. He deserves to die. He deserves to die for this nonsense, for this rubbish he just put us through today. He deserves to die, and I'm going to make sure he doesn't survive today."

Chapter 9
Not long after, Damien reached the place. The taxi barely came to a full stop before he was already pushing the door open and stepping out onto the gravel path that led into the cemetery. His heart was pounding so hard he could feel it in his throat, and his legs moved faster than his mind could think. This was the resting place of his mother, his father, and his younger sister, the one quiet corner of the world that still felt sacred to him, the one place he visited every single week without fail. But the moment he walked through the gate, everything inside him went cold. There wasn't just one man standing there. There wasn't two. There wasn't even three. Damien's eyes moved across the open ground and counted more than fifteen men scattered around the graves, and every single one of them was holding a sledgehammer. Some of them gripped shovels instead, the metal blades resting against their shoulders like tools waiting to be used. A few of the men had made themselves completely comf

Damien's jaw tightened, but he didn't say anything yet. He just listened.Nathaniel continued, his voice getting darker with every word. "Right now, I'm standing at the graveyard where your mother is buried. And you know that both your parents are placed together in that same spot, along with your younger sister. I'm standing right here, Damien, looking at their graves, and I'm giving you just five minutes to bring your stinking self over here. Five minutes. Not six, not seven. Five. And you better bring those documents I asked for along with you, because if you don't show up in time, everything here is going to be destroyed. Yes, destroyed. I'm going to ruin this place. I'm going to crush every stone, break every marker, dig up every inch of ground. Not just that, even if there are skeletons remaining, I will crush those too. So you better get here within five minutes and bring those documents with you, or everything your parents left behind, everything they rest in, is going down. Y
Chapter 7
Not long after, Damien got to his parents old home and the moment he stepped through the door, he just stood there for a few seconds trying to catch his breath. He had just come down from the taxi, and his mind was still spinning from everything that had happened today. His chest felt tight, like someone had wrapped a rope around it and was pulling harder with every breath he took. He couldn't believe it. He still couldn't wrap his head around the fact that Megan, his Megan, the woman he had loved with everything in him, had actually betrayed him in the worst way possible. She had been sleeping with his uncle for years now, years, and he hadn't known a single thing about it. All this time, while he was out there working hard, trying to build something for their future, trying to be the man she claimed she wanted, she was busy warming Nathaniel's bed behind his back like he didn't even exist. They had been using him this whole time. Megan had been using him like he was some kind of to

Chapter 5
He wasn't going to let that happen again. This time, he was going to sneak in. There was a blind spot. A way into the house that almost no one knew about. Not even Megan. It was a small door at the back of the house, near the bathroom. It connected to the outside through a narrow alley that most people forgot existed. He'd only used it once or twice, years ago, when he lost his keys.No one would expect him to come through there. He moved quickly, staying low, keeping to the shadows. The rain helped. It blurred the streetlights and muffled his footsteps. He made his way around the block, cutting through side streets until he reached the back alley behind his building. There it was. The door. Rusted. Half-hidden behind an old dumpster. He pulled out his phone and checked that it was recording. The screen glowed faintly in the dark. He didn't know exactly what he was going to find inside, but this time, he wasn't going in empty-handed.This time, he was going to get evidence.Damian mov

He'd lost too much blood. The car stopped. The guards yanked him out and dragged him toward the edge of a bridge. The river below was dark and moving fast. They tied his hands together. Then his legs. The rope cut into his skin, but he didn't have the strength to pull against it.One of the men leaned down close to his face. "In your next life, you'll know when to quit. You'll know some things are only meant for the rich."They picked him up.And then they threw him over the edge.Damian's body hit the water hard. The cold swallowed him whole. He couldn't swim. Couldn't move his arms or legs. The current pulled him under immediately. Water filled his nose, his mouth, his lungs. He tried to hold his breath, but there was nothing left in him to hold.He was sinking. His mind went to his grandmother. Lying in that hospital bed. Waiting for him. She had no one e
