“It's been way too long, my dearest grandson,” the old man said to Devin and stretched forth his hand to him.
Devin looked around, puzzled, and slowly approached the old man while everyone else watched. When he was close enough, his grandfather took his hand and pulled him into an embrace. “How I wish your mother was alive to see this. She fought so hard for this moment,” the older man's breath shuddered as Devin pulled away from the hug. “I don't understand, sir. My mother never mentioned anything about family. So, I'm finding it difficult to trust you,” Devin told him. His grandfather chuckled while he gazed at him from head down. “Bold and fearless. Just like your mother,” the old man stated and then turned his head to a guard standing almost inconspicuously in the background. He was bald and had a vertical scar that extended from his right brow to his right cheek. The guard nodded back at the old man and approached Devin with a DNA result. The bald guard handed the result over to Devin who saw that there was a 99.99% match! He was indeed the old man's grandson. “I- I don't know what to say,” Devin said to the old man who smiled. “I'm sorry it took me so long to bring you home, Devin. It was all in an attempt to protect you. But things have changed now…” The old man said and cleared his throat. “I am Elijah Stone. Head of the most prestigious Stonehenge Conglomerate. I'm sure you've heard of it…” the old man, Elijah, said. Of course, Devin has heard of it. Who hasn't? Stonehenge was an amalgamation of several world-class companies with a vast and diverse system of operations. It was so big that no one knew exactly how many companies were under the umbrella. The Conglomerate was capable of buying half the world's nations. Other companies begged to have a contract with them, and the World Bank recognized them as their biggest client. The head of that empire was his own grandfather? Devin could barely believe it himself! “I failed you and your mother. I thought I was doing the right thing, but it turned out I was wrong. I ask for your forgiveness for my ignorance and arrogance. Let me amend this,” Elijah said and Yvonne gave him a tablet. He clicked on some letters while Devin watched. A chime soon followed, and Elijah gave a satisfying nod. “I just transferred everything I had in New York to your name. My wealth, cars, companies, skyscrapers, every single one of them. Tonight, everyone shall bow to its new heir!” Elijah declared, and suddenly, all the billionaires present turned to Devin and bowed before him. “All hail Devin Stone!” They chanted while Devin stood transfixed. It was all too good to be true. A penniless guy like him turned out to be the heir of the almighty Stone? He pinched himself to make sure he wasn't dreaming. The next moment, the same bald guard approached Devin holding a black card with shiny, golden edges. On the card was the stone family logo— a moon with two swords crossing it— it was also the same logo that Stonehenge Conglomerate uses. “Here's your card, young master. Unlimited access. Every door opens for you now,” he said to Devin while handing the card over to him. Devin took the card. From this moment on, he wasn't that pathetic Devin anymore. Hell no! He was the goddamn great Devin Stone, the one and only heir to the Stone Group! Screw the wedding, the cheating, the knocked-up drama, daddy gonna embrace the shiny new life! “Walk with me,” Elijah told Devin who proceeded to wheel him out of the living room. They explored another segment of the mansion's wing until Devin wheeled his grandfather to the highest balcony. The view was breathtaking. From there, they could see the rest of the city in the distance, the lights— and hear the faint sirens calling or the honking of cars. “Come closer, grandson,” Elijah called out to Devin as his earlier soft gaze suddenly turned cold. Devin approached him and crouched to allow the older man to speak directly into his ear. “Our bloodline carries a gift, a psychic power. We traced you through it tonight…” Elijah said and Devin's brows flared. So what happened wasn't a regular anomaly? “... But to control it, you need the heirloom. Your mother took it with her. Did she give it to you?” Elijah asked. Devin tried to recall if his mother had given him something that could unlock a psychic power. But nothing came to his mind no matter how hard he tried. Until it suddenly dawned on him. His mother's necklace. The one she cherished the most. That could be it! But Devin left it back at Amanda's place. She'd thrown it into a trash bag. Damn! “She did leave a diamond necklace in my possession…” Devin replied, attempting to confirm if his suspicion was correct. The sudden glow on his grandfather's face cleared all doubts. “Yes! That's it. Where is it, grandson? Do you have it?” The older man asked while looking around at Devin's hands as if he'd find it here. “There was a little complication, grandfather. But not to worry. I will get it back,” Devin stated with resolve. *** “I'm coming…” a woman's voice echoed while the doorbell rang. Sera, Amanda's mother, had been worried sick. She came to see Amanda and got reports of all that transpired. They even told her that Devin attempted to murder both Amanda and Luther. “That fucker doesn't know his place. We should've castrated the dog when we had the chance,” Sera had cursed Devin. So, her face darkened and twisted when she saw Devin standing outside the door.

The shopping mall Klaus picked wasn’t just high end, it was obnoxiously elite. The place was full of chandeliers, glass floors, heavy perfume scents, and workers who looked like they hadn’t blinked since their shift started. Amanda strutted through the entrance in designer sunglasses and a skin tight black dress that screamed. Klaus walked beside her in a navy suit with no tie, chewing gum and looking around like he owned the planet. “This place smells like desperation and overpriced lotion.” Amanda said, turning her nose up at the scent of vanilla and citrus. “It’s not desperation.” Klaus replied, barely glancing at the employees who’d stopped everything to bow their heads. “It’s fear. Fear that we’ll speak.” Amanda smirked. “As we should.” The first boutique they entered had a staff of five, all standing in a perfect line. A blonde salesgirl walked up with an overly fake smile. “Welcome to Odets, madam, sir. May I assist you with—” “No.” Amanda cut her off sharply

Amanda woke up in silk sheets. Yes, actual silk. The kind you’d find in movies or fashion magazines, the kind that she used to enjoy before her life turned to dust, costing way more than people’s rent. She stretched, smiling, and then turned to the side. A gold tray sat beside the bed, stacked with fresh strawberries, warm croissants, and a flute of champagne. A note lay beside the glass, folded neatly. She picked it up to read. -Join me on the terrace when you’re done. – K.- Amanda raised a brow. Klaus. She still didn’t know what his deal was. The man had picked her up from the street when she was done yelling for Devin like a stray dog, but instead of throwing her in a shelter, he brought her to this fucking palace. Who the hell was he even? And what did he want with her? She climbed out of bed and winced a little. Her body still ached, and not just from the rain. Her heart was raw, and her pride was still in pieces from everything that had taken place before then. But to

Devin’s Rolls-Royce pulled smoothly into his private underground parking garage as Dreykov went to open the car door for him. The deal was sealed, the mayor's invite was sitting in the glove box, and Devin had every reason to feel at the top of the world. He got out of the car, loosened his tie, and stretched slightly, smiling. He was about to see his gorgeous woman. “Anything else you need sir?” Dreykov asked. “No, thank you.” “I’ll park the car and be with you shortly.” Dreykov said. Just as Devin was about to head towards the mansion, Viktor came out of nowhere. “You’re late.” Viktor said, folding his arms with a frown on his face. Devin scowled. “How did you just do that? And you’re not my timekeeper.” “You haven’t responded to my last few messages.” Viktor continued. “We need to talk about something urgent.” Devin sighed, running a hand through his hair. “About what, Viktor?” “The portal. It has to be opened, and you need to—” “No. I already t
CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND THIRTEEN
The boardroom on the top floor of the Stonehenge Conglomerate headquarters was made of pure hard glass and steel, and it had this cold yet elegant vibe, as it was designed to intimidate. Devin sat at the head of the table, looking like a man born to sit on thrones others only dreamed of. And he was in fact, doing that. His grey suit was tailored to perfection, and he wore a satisfied smirk as he flipped through the final page of the contract. Opposite him sat five of the most powerful stakeholders in the international fintech space. Men in their late fifties, who were sharp, greying at the edges, and wearing shoes more expensive than most people’s apartments. One of them, who was a dark skinned man named Elias Vegas, leaned forward. “I have to say, Stone…” Elias started to speak, tapping the edge of the folder with one finger. “When you made this offer two weeks ago, I thought you were a bold little bastard.” Devin looked up calmly. “Really? And now?” Elias smiled. “N

Amanda didn’t know how long she had been walking. Her feet were burning in her heels, and her thighs were very sore from Luther’s roughness, and her pride? Oh that had left her hours ago. The only thing keeping her going now was rage. Blinding, bitter rage, and a bit of hope. Wherever she went, they were always people to call her names and take photos of her. The most pleasant ones were the ones who stopped to stare and whisper, as somehow, they news had gotten round. Amanda was now #1 most hated person in the country. A young man stopped her, staring into her eyes. She tried to walk around him but he still blocked her way. Frustrated, she stomped the ground. “What do you want?” “I want to fuck you.” He said brazenly. “Are you crazy? I’m not a whore!” “Everyone else says otherwise. Or is it money you want?” He asked, waving his card in her face. Amanda groaned as he took a picture of her. “I can goon off to this later.” He was about to side stepped her when in r
CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND ELEVEN
Amanda sighed, looking around to see that she was still getting scornful glances. Everyone has rejected her. Society, Luther, and even her own mother. Had she been wrong to kill Steve? If only for a while, she could have— she wished she could change the hands of time, but that was impossible. All she had now was herself. She bent down to pick up her phone and it started to ring immediately. Luther! She gasped when she saw the caller ID, and was about to pick it up when someone bumped heavily into her, throwing her into the ground. “Watch the fucking road!” She screeched. The guy who had pushed her just looked at her scornfully. “I just put you in your place, whore!” “Your mother!” She swore, picking up the phone. “Your sex tape wasn’t even good!” Amanda’s cheeks flared up and she picked up the call. “Hello.” Her voice was as meek as possible. “You bitch! I can’t believe you had the audacity…” Luther was beyond furious. “I can explain, please. That… that wa
