Amanda dragged her wedding dress along as she approached Devin, her face twisted with anger.

“Have you come to ruin my big day? Why are you doing this to me?” Amanda cried out.

“You're doing this on purpose, aren't you? Just because I upgraded from your pathetic ass?” She screamed at him.

“Seriously? Upgrade to marrying a man old enough to be your dad?” Devin said to her face, and she scoffed.

“Who is this man to the bride?”

“How do they know each other?”

“Shut your fucking mouth! This is the last time you raise your hands on my family!” Amanda screamed at Devin who scoffed.

“I never wanted to be here anyways. Have a great wedding,” Devin said with sarcasm, and turned to leave, but Amanda suddenly blocked his path.

"Kneel down and apologize! Otherwise, I won't let you walk out of here alive, you son of a bitch!" Amanda yelled at Devin who laughed at her words.

“You are digging your own fucking grave!” Devin shot back at her.

Amanda flushed with anger. Just as she was about to reply, Luther approached the pair with a shrewd smile on his face.

“Come on now, darling. Let's be kind to the man. He's already going through shit in life…” Luther said to Amanda, kissed her on the cheek and then turned to Devin.

“Tell you what Devin, why don't you slap yourself until she tells you to stop? At least, your worn out knees wouldn't need to contaminate the floor,” Luther proposed with a smile.

Devin gritted his teeth while he gazed at the pair.

“He should do it. A lowlife like him doesn't belong here anyway.” A guest suddenly said out loud.

“I've been saying this! These degenerates do not know their place. How dare he cause such trouble. He should slap himself until the bride is satisfied!” Another one joined in.

“If you have any shred of dignity left, you will apologize right now!”

Soon, more and more guests added their voices, yelling and cursing Devin, telling him to do what Luther and Amanda wanted.

“Everyone, please, let's just calm down. Mr Devin didn't do this on purpose. I can assure you,” Kia begged on Devin's behalf but Amanda scoffed.

“Girl, he's playing you for a fool and you're falling for it. Abandon him and let him burn!” Amanda snapped at Kia.

“Don't waste your words with them, Kia,” Devin told her as more guests pointed their fingers at Devin, yelling and cursing him.

“Oh God, what are you going to now, Devin?” Kia asked him, genuinely concerned.

Devin sneered and calmly took out his phone, he pressed a number.

“Young master, what's with the noise in the background!” Yvonne Hall on the other end of the line asked.

“Cancel this fucking wedding and kick these people out of my auditorium!” Devin commanded and hung up immediately.

Luther laughed out loud when he heard the words. He snorted and stepped closer to Devin.

“You've gone mad, haven't you? Do you think of yourself as a big shot now? You must want to be in MY world so bad that you fake connections!” Luther laughed again.

“You never should have forced me to come in here, Luther. Now, you'll have nothing,”

Devin sneered, while he folded his arms and watched the farce.

But Luther didn't take the words so kindly.

“I've tolerated your foul-mouth for so long. It's time I teach you a lesson your loser of a father should have taught you!”

Luther barked and signaled his personal bodyguards to the scene.

All five of them rushed down, wearing a frown on their faces.

“Teach him a lesson he'll never forget. Don't hold back. I don't care if you break every fucking bone in his body!” Luther commanded and took a step back while the bodyguards surrounded Devin.

But as soon as they closed in, a massive wave of energy surged from Devin's body and the bodyguards, slamming them into walls with bone crushing force!

"What a goddamn amazing clown show! I'm scared shitless!"

Devin adjusted to a more comfortable stance, his defiant gaze boring right into Luther.

The guests exclaimed, and Luther was shocked.

Kia gazed upon Devin with admiration, certain she was starting to fall for him.

“Guess I'll have to finish this myself!” Amanda cried out as she suddenly aimed Luther's gun at Devin.

The guests gasped as Amanda, determined, holds her aim.

“If you do not apologize to me and my family, I'll blow your fucking brains out right now!” She screamed at Devin.

The air hung with tension as Devin remained silent.

But Amanda suddenly fired the gun. The guests screamed and scurried into places to hide as the bullet hit the door.

Devin had dodged it!

“Why won't you just fucking die?!” Amanda screamed and attempted to take a second shot.

But right then, the door was blasted open with a huge bang. The bodyguards at the door were kicked aside by a mob of black - clad guys.

A smoking-hot woman walked in.

It was Yvonne Hall!

The mayor’s mansion was a large one that seemed to glow, even from the outside. Golden ornaments hung from trees, violins were being played from the large balconies, and the courtyard was full as the city’s most powerful people stood, dressed in designer gowns and custom tuxedos. It was the kind of night people posted about for months, the kind of party only an elite few could even dream of entering. And Devin Stone? He had walked up to it like it was any regular place. He didn’t want any attention and felt like he had been getting enough already, and so he didn’t take any flashy cars or an entourage. He was alone, and was dressed casually in just a simple dark hoodie, black jeans, a pair boots, a face cap, and his hands in his pockets. The rain earlier had soaked the hem of his pants, and his face was partially covered by the cap he wore. From a distance, he looked like a man who had taken a wrong turn into the wrong part of town. The bouncer at the front entrance, who was a

The shopping mall Klaus picked wasn’t just high end, it was obnoxiously elite. The place was full of chandeliers, glass floors, heavy perfume scents, and workers who looked like they hadn’t blinked since their shift started. Amanda strutted through the entrance in designer sunglasses and a skin tight black dress that screamed. Klaus walked beside her in a navy suit with no tie, chewing gum and looking around like he owned the planet. “This place smells like desperation and overpriced lotion.” Amanda said, turning her nose up at the scent of vanilla and citrus. “It’s not desperation.” Klaus replied, barely glancing at the employees who’d stopped everything to bow their heads. “It’s fear. Fear that we’ll speak.” Amanda smirked. “As we should.” The first boutique they entered had a staff of five, all standing in a perfect line. A blonde salesgirl walked up with an overly fake smile. “Welcome to Odets, madam, sir. May I assist you with—” “No.” Amanda cut her off sharply

Amanda woke up in silk sheets. Yes, actual silk. The kind you’d find in movies or fashion magazines, the kind that she used to enjoy before her life turned to dust, costing way more than people’s rent. She stretched, smiling, and then turned to the side. A gold tray sat beside the bed, stacked with fresh strawberries, warm croissants, and a flute of champagne. A note lay beside the glass, folded neatly. She picked it up to read. -Join me on the terrace when you’re done. – K.- Amanda raised a brow. Klaus. She still didn’t know what his deal was. The man had picked her up from the street when she was done yelling for Devin like a stray dog, but instead of throwing her in a shelter, he brought her to this fucking palace. Who the hell was he even? And what did he want with her? She climbed out of bed and winced a little. Her body still ached, and not just from the rain. Her heart was raw, and her pride was still in pieces from everything that had taken place before then. But to

Devin’s Rolls-Royce pulled smoothly into his private underground parking garage as Dreykov went to open the car door for him. The deal was sealed, the mayor's invite was sitting in the glove box, and Devin had every reason to feel at the top of the world. He got out of the car, loosened his tie, and stretched slightly, smiling. He was about to see his gorgeous woman. “Anything else you need sir?” Dreykov asked. “No, thank you.” “I’ll park the car and be with you shortly.” Dreykov said. Just as Devin was about to head towards the mansion, Viktor came out of nowhere. “You’re late.” Viktor said, folding his arms with a frown on his face. Devin scowled. “How did you just do that? And you’re not my timekeeper.” “You haven’t responded to my last few messages.” Viktor continued. “We need to talk about something urgent.” Devin sighed, running a hand through his hair. “About what, Viktor?” “The portal. It has to be opened, and you need to—” “No. I already t

  • CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND THIRTEEN

The boardroom on the top floor of the Stonehenge Conglomerate headquarters was made of pure hard glass and steel, and it had this cold yet elegant vibe, as it was designed to intimidate. Devin sat at the head of the table, looking like a man born to sit on thrones others only dreamed of. And he was in fact, doing that. His grey suit was tailored to perfection, and he wore a satisfied smirk as he flipped through the final page of the contract. Opposite him sat five of the most powerful stakeholders in the international fintech space. Men in their late fifties, who were sharp, greying at the edges, and wearing shoes more expensive than most people’s apartments. One of them, who was a dark skinned man named Elias Vegas, leaned forward. “I have to say, Stone…” Elias started to speak, tapping the edge of the folder with one finger. “When you made this offer two weeks ago, I thought you were a bold little bastard.” Devin looked up calmly. “Really? And now?” Elias smiled. “N

  • ONE HUNDRED AND TWELVE

Amanda didn’t know how long she had been walking. Her feet were burning in her heels, and her thighs were very sore from Luther’s roughness, and her pride? Oh that had left her hours ago. The only thing keeping her going now was rage. Blinding, bitter rage, and a bit of hope. Wherever she went, they were always people to call her names and take photos of her. The most pleasant ones were the ones who stopped to stare and whisper, as somehow, they news had gotten round. Amanda was now #1 most hated person in the country. A young man stopped her, staring into her eyes. She tried to walk around him but he still blocked her way. Frustrated, she stomped the ground. “What do you want?” “I want to fuck you.” He said brazenly. “Are you crazy? I’m not a whore!” “Everyone else says otherwise. Or is it money you want?” He asked, waving his card in her face. Amanda groaned as he took a picture of her. “I can goon off to this later.” He was about to side stepped her when in r
