Amanda dragged her wedding dress along as she approached Devin, her face twisted with anger.
“Have you come to ruin my big day? Why are you doing this to me?” Amanda cried out. “You're doing this on purpose, aren't you? Just because I upgraded from your pathetic ass?” She screamed at him. “Seriously? Upgrade to marrying a man old enough to be your dad?” Devin said to her face, and she scoffed. “Who is this man to the bride?” “How do they know each other?” “Shut your fucking mouth! This is the last time you raise your hands on my family!” Amanda screamed at Devin who scoffed. “I never wanted to be here anyways. Have a great wedding,” Devin said with sarcasm, and turned to leave, but Amanda suddenly blocked his path. "Kneel down and apologize! Otherwise, I won't let you walk out of here alive, you son of a bitch!" Amanda yelled at Devin who laughed at her words. “You are digging your own fucking grave!” Devin shot back at her. Amanda flushed with anger. Just as she was about to reply, Luther approached the pair with a shrewd smile on his face. “Come on now, darling. Let's be kind to the man. He's already going through shit in life…” Luther said to Amanda, kissed her on the cheek and then turned to Devin. “Tell you what Devin, why don't you slap yourself until she tells you to stop? At least, your worn out knees wouldn't need to contaminate the floor,” Luther proposed with a smile. Devin gritted his teeth while he gazed at the pair. “He should do it. A lowlife like him doesn't belong here anyway.” A guest suddenly said out loud. “I've been saying this! These degenerates do not know their place. How dare he cause such trouble. He should slap himself until the bride is satisfied!” Another one joined in. “If you have any shred of dignity left, you will apologize right now!” Soon, more and more guests added their voices, yelling and cursing Devin, telling him to do what Luther and Amanda wanted. “Everyone, please, let's just calm down. Mr Devin didn't do this on purpose. I can assure you,” Kia begged on Devin's behalf but Amanda scoffed. “Girl, he's playing you for a fool and you're falling for it. Abandon him and let him burn!” Amanda snapped at Kia. “Don't waste your words with them, Kia,” Devin told her as more guests pointed their fingers at Devin, yelling and cursing him. “Oh God, what are you going to now, Devin?” Kia asked him, genuinely concerned. Devin sneered and calmly took out his phone, he pressed a number. “Young master, what's with the noise in the background!” Yvonne Hall on the other end of the line asked. “Cancel this fucking wedding and kick these people out of my auditorium!” Devin commanded and hung up immediately. Luther laughed out loud when he heard the words. He snorted and stepped closer to Devin. “You've gone mad, haven't you? Do you think of yourself as a big shot now? You must want to be in MY world so bad that you fake connections!” Luther laughed again. “You never should have forced me to come in here, Luther. Now, you'll have nothing,” Devin sneered, while he folded his arms and watched the farce. But Luther didn't take the words so kindly. “I've tolerated your foul-mouth for so long. It's time I teach you a lesson your loser of a father should have taught you!” Luther barked and signaled his personal bodyguards to the scene. All five of them rushed down, wearing a frown on their faces. “Teach him a lesson he'll never forget. Don't hold back. I don't care if you break every fucking bone in his body!” Luther commanded and took a step back while the bodyguards surrounded Devin. But as soon as they closed in, a massive wave of energy surged from Devin's body and the bodyguards, slamming them into walls with bone crushing force! "What a goddamn amazing clown show! I'm scared shitless!" Devin adjusted to a more comfortable stance, his defiant gaze boring right into Luther. The guests exclaimed, and Luther was shocked. Kia gazed upon Devin with admiration, certain she was starting to fall for him. “Guess I'll have to finish this myself!” Amanda cried out as she suddenly aimed Luther's gun at Devin. The guests gasped as Amanda, determined, holds her aim. “If you do not apologize to me and my family, I'll blow your fucking brains out right now!” She screamed at Devin. The air hung with tension as Devin remained silent. But Amanda suddenly fired the gun. The guests screamed and scurried into places to hide as the bullet hit the door. Devin had dodged it! “Why won't you just fucking die?!” Amanda screamed and attempted to take a second shot. But right then, the door was blasted open with a huge bang. The bodyguards at the door were kicked aside by a mob of black - clad guys. A smoking-hot woman walked in. It was Yvonne Hall!

CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED
Devin sat alone in the large living room, staring at the screen of his phone, scrolling through things, finding nothing interesting. He had barely touched his tea, and his thoughts were all over the place. He heard about the incident involving Henry’s secretary, but good thing he had handled that swiftly. She was alive and safe. But Viktor? The man hadn't shown his face all night, and he didn’t send for him either. As if he had been summoned, the main doors opened without warning, and the sounds of heavy boots came from down the house until they got to him. Devin didn't bother to look up. "Good morning, Devin." Viktor said with a nod. He was dressed in all black as usual. "You didn't call me last night." Devin sighed. “Since when did you need me to call you before you showed up? Besides, I didn’t feel like talking." Viktor frowned. “I was busy with some personal matters, and I was also hoping for an update about the situation with Viper and any others. Your men shou
CHAPTER NINETY NINE
Devin remained seated, staring at the fire that danced in the hearth. Its glow painted golden lines along the edges of his sharp jaw, but his face was tense. His thoughts were anything but calm. What to do, what to do? He hated being in situations like this. If he had known these things about Viktor before he grew a soft spot for him, then he wouldn’t have had to think it over. Henry stood near the desk, waiting. “So Henry, tell me.” Devin finally said, his voice low. “What do you think I should do about all of this?” Henry didn’t answer right away. He walked to the bar in the corner, poured himself a small glass of scotch, and took a sip before turning around. “Sir, I can’t tell you what to do, but my only advice for you is to not poke the bear.” He said. “Don’t poke the bear.” Devin muttered. Henry walked back toward him slowly, swirling the drink in his hand before sitting down. “Viktor is a man filled with loss, rage, regret, and immense power. That is a very dan
CHAPTER NINETY EIGHT
Henry Blake arrived just before midnight. His black car rolled to a slow stop at the mansion gates, and one of his men opened it without a word. Henry stepped out in his long, deep green coat, his face calm as always, and his silver watch catching the light from the front. He looked like a gorgeous man who knew too many secrets, and carried all of them alone. And both parts were true. Henry wondered what his boss wanted to see him for. He could only hope that there wasn’t trouble in paradise, but he had to check it out himself to know, right? Dreykov greeted him with a stiff nod at the door. “Mr Blake.” “Dreykov.” Henry replied, his tone light. “Still frowning at the world, I see.” Dreykov didn’t respond. He just led Henry in and down the quiet hallway. Devin was in his study, standing by the fireplace, his arms crossed as he stared into the flames, thinking of how beautiful light was, no matter the form it came in. He turned the moment the door opened. “Henry.”
CHAPTER NINETY SEVEN
Devin sat in his study, unable to keep his mind from going haywire as thoughts presented themselves one after the other. The mansion was still and quiet, like the calm after a storm, as it had almost been a week since the unfortunate incident with Viper, and everything had been restored to its original form. Thing was, with everything going on, he couldn’t find it in him to rest. Something much bigger was at play here, he knew it. His phone started to ring on the table, and he peeked at the caller ID. Petra Knight. Sighing, he picked the call. "Petra.” He said, rubbing the bridge of his nose. "Please tell me you have something, anything.” “Oh, darling.” Her sultry voice flowed through the phone like honey. “You missed me, didn't you?" Devin wasn’t moved. "I asked for answers, not attitude." "Well, it’s a combination you get to enjoy." He could hear her sipping something on the other end. "But I'll give you what you want first. Then we can talk about your undying lov
CHAPTER NINETY SIX
Viper's body was still on the floor, blood smeared across his mouth and jaw with cuts all over him. His face was battered, barely recognizable, and his clothes had basically been shredded… to say in the least. His chest rose and fell in a manner that showed that even breathing was painful for him. Devin stood a few feet away, fists clenched at his sides, trying to calm the fire still burning inside him. His breathing was loud in the silence, but his eyes never left the man he’d just crushed. “Tie him up. I want him breathing to question him.” “Yes sir.” Dreykov nodded and motioned to two guards who had made it through the whole chaotic event. One was limping slightly, and the other had a bruised arm, but they obeyed without hesitation. As the men approached with thick ropes and bindings, Viper’s eyes suddenly snapped open. Dreykov noticed it first. “Shit! He’s awake!” He hissed, jumping back. Viper’s head whipped up, blood dripping from his lip, and with one wild, anima
CHAPTER NINETY FIVE
The night was cold as a strong wind moved through the trees that lined the long driveway leading up to Devin’s mansion. But it wasn’t just the weather that carried the chill, no, it was the arrival of something far worse. Something dangerous. Viper stood just beyond the front gates with a wicked grin on his face and madness glowing in his eyes. His veins pulsed with so much power, and his fingers twitched with raw, unstable energy. He opened his palm, staring at the burnt fragment of the scroll he had absorbed hours ago. The power inside him was bubbling, and he felt like a god. His blood was hot and greedy, like it wanted out of system. Like it wanted more blood. "Time to kill a rich boy.” He muttered with a sneer. Viper kicked the gates open. They flew off their hinges like they were made of paper, crashing into the hedges on either side. Inside the mansion, Viktor and Dreykov were already on high alert. “Sir.” Dreykov said, peering out the front window, “we have a p
