CHAPTER 1-THE WILL AND TESTAMENT

Henry caught everyone's attention as he arrived at the mansion carrying bags of food.

"What took you so long?! We have been waiting for you to make us breakfast!" As soon as his mother-in-law saw him, she threw the goblet on the table at him.

"I apologize, Madame Ofelia. There was a car accident on my way. I was stuck in a traffic," Henry apologized, barely dodged the goblet thrown at his face.

The glass made a shattering sound. If it hit him in the face, they might still think the blood would stain the floor.

"You damn loser, how dare do you talk to me like this?! I can't believe why Margaret married a useless man like you." The old lady was outraged, started mourning, loudly, “Richard, my love. If you’re alive, you won’t let this bastard destroyed our beautiful glasses.”

Henry was at a loss whether to laugh, and silently sat down beside Margret, his wife.

She was comforting her mother.

Richard Wellington – Margaret‘s father, Ofelia’s husband - just passed away.

" Everything will be alright, mom." Margaret hugged her mother to ease her. But Ofelia cried even louder, though it didn't sound real.

"Enough with the drama. I know what you're all thinking. Who's going to inherit father's wealth?" Spoken by William Benedict Wellington, the only son of the family.

When billionaire Richard Wellington died, the public was abuzz with who would be the successor to his vast legacy.

"William, let's put aside the talk about the wealth for now. Dad just died yesterday, have some respect," Margaret scolded.

"Don't you dare dictate me what to do. We have to be practical now. We all know that father was a wealthy man with billions of money in his bank and lots of assets that we need to protect," William asserted.

Of course, everyone expects his name in the will and testament, especially himself.

"Where the hell is my food?!" The youngest spoiled daughter of the family, Winona, was fussing when she couldn't find her favorite food on the table.

"Henry?? Can't you hear?? Where's Winona's burger and fries?" William was also annoyed as he looked at the receipt to check all the expenses.

“This is the best French dining in Northford; they don’t have burger and fries.” Henry answered coldly.

It costs $1600 as they were so picky with their food and only ordered expensive items to satisfy their cravings.

"Why couldn’t you stop by a fast food. You’re really stupid enough." Isabella said sarcastically.

Well, as a poor boy with no background, Henry obviously has the lowest status in the family. Even dogs can pee on his head.

"Wait a minute. Where's the change of the $1000 money?" William raised an eyebrow at him with suspicion, which made the others look at Henry as well.

"I spent $1600 on what you want. There was no change at all. I even paid extra 600 myself." Henry replied calmly, didn’t bother confront people like this.

"Wow, you’re really good at making things, fucking liar. I almost forgot that it's your job to steal!" William accused, it made the other family members laughed.

Anger rushed into Henry's head. He wanted to fight back, but Margaret gave him a look that it was better to keep quiet.

"Don’t worry, feel free to keep the change, at least you can buy a new pair of cheap shoes," William made fun of Henry's shoes that soles coming off.

Henry sighed and calmed himself down, letting them laugh.

"Why did you even come here, Henry? I already told you to stay at the hotel," Margaret whispered in annoyance as she gave him a piece of bread to fill his stomach.

"Sorry, Margaret. But I need to be by your side on this big day" Henry answered.

Margaret shook her head.

She might be thinking in her heart that if Henry wasn't around, she wouldn't have endured such ridicule.

Inside the Willow Creek mansion, the entire family gathered altogether for the reading of the will and testament. They were all anxious to know that the late patriarch didn't chose a heir in the family as he designated a specific beneficiary to inherit his wealth.

Soon after, the lawyer they had been waiting for arrive to Willow Creek mansion to present the will and testament of Richard Wellington, "Good day, Wellington family. I'm so sorry for your loss. I am here to read the last will and testament of the great Richard Wellington."

Mr. Garcia sat at the end of the table and opened the document that the deceased had instructed him to be the only one who could release it at the appointed time.

"I can't wait to rule our company," William had a wide grin on his face, confident that his father had chosen him.

Mr. Garcia smiled as he looked at each of the family's faces and sensed their nervousness.

"I, Richard Foster Wellington, being of sound mind and body, do hereby the declare this to be my last will and testament. I bequeath all of my assets, both real and personal...," The lawyer paused for a moment, unable to believe whose name was written.

"To my son-in-law, Henry Franklin Constantine."

The room fell into a deafening silence as Henry felt a surge of fear, sensing that something bad was about to happen.
