David Wyatt glanced at his cheap wristwatch. The loud music was supposed to be serene, but it was racking his nerves.

All he wanted was a quiet romantic dinner with his girlfriend, Natalie.

" They have great crabs here." He cleared his throat, but it was just to get her attention.

She finally looked at him, rolling her eyes in irritation.

" Ew, that's like the cheapest thing around here." She looked away.

David sighed as he pulled out his wallet. He counted the money and found out he didn't have enough.

He could give her a little bit of a luxurious dinner, but that would mean eating ramen for the next two weeks for him.

Well, fuck it. He loved Natalie that much, he would make that sacrifice for her.

" Waiter!" He waved his hand to get attention.

A waiter appeared in front of them.

" Good day, what will you be ordering today?" He smiled at both of them.

Natalie wasn't there, her eyes were glued to her phone.

" Natalie." David slowly called her attention. " Let's forget about the crabs, order what you want."

She automatically dropped her phone and smiled brightly.

" Well, it's about time this felt like a real date." She huffed.

" I will have sushi and some steak too." She said,

" And you sir?" The waiter turned to him.

"Nah, I'm good." David waved off. He wasn't going to be able to afford two meals with the way Natalie was ordering.

The waiter was about to leave, but Natalie snapped her fingers for him to get back.

She whispered something into his ear and left.

David had his gaze fixed on her.

" What did you say to him?" He asked.

" Relax, David," she rolled her eyes. " You are so insecure, I wasn't flirting with the waiter."

" I didn't say you were, I just wanted to know what you said to him."

" Now you want to turn it into an argument?!" She snapped. " Are you that insecure?!"

She was trying to pick a fight with him, but he wasn't going to let it. Something's up with her and they will talk about it later.

The waiter arrived with her order, but he was also holding an expensive bottle of soda water, the type that came in an elegant glass bottle and cost thousands of dollars.

David wasn't sure that it was for their table, not until the waiter set it down on the table.

Natalie grabbed it, but David took it from her with the speed of light.

" Woo, woo, let's wait for a second. We didn't order this?" He gave the waiter a frown.

" I saw my celebrity role model posed with with it on I*******m, I want to do the same." She raised an eyebrow. " Do you have a problem with that, David?"

" How much is this bottle?" He demanded to know from the waiter.

"Twenty-five hundred." The waiter answered.

"Twenty-five– Jesus Christ.." David propped his head into his hand and rubbed between his eyebrows.

" I'm sorry, but we can't afford it." He sighed calmly.

" Excuse me?!" Natalie frowned even deeper.

" Thank you, please." David exited the waiter and dropped the bottle close to him.

Natalie was literally fuming, like a pot that was boiling over.

" What's your problem?!" She blasted David. " Are you trying to disgrace me?! it's just soda water for crying out loud!"

" That's almost three thousand dollars, more than I make in a fucking month." He said. " Why would you even order something like that?"

" That's like the cheapest drink they have here and you can't afford that?!" She was visibly disgusted by that.

She wanted to say more, but she halted herself. She pushed her hair back and started to put her phone into her bag.

" My fucking mum warned me about you." She murmured. " She said I would be poor and miserable if I chose to be with you."

David's face was covered in anger and his lips got thinner.

" I'm a college student who had to work my ass off to pay off tuition." He defended himself. " You don't expect me to sponsor your luxurious life just like that! I will need a few years to start up something."

She stood up very quickly and put her bag under her arm.

" Yeah, sorry." She said, " I won't be here to wait for you to grow."

" What?!" He squinted. " Is this you breaking up with me?"

" Yes! I shouldn't have gotten together with you all this time. I thought your big brain equated to a big future."

" Jesus, Natalie!"

She just waved her hand in his face as she started to walk towards the exit.

" Natalie."

Splash!!

Everyone had stopped as they stared at David in disbelief.

As he was trying to go after her, he mistakenly pushed down the bottle from the table. It was all over the ground now.

Natalie had her hand over her mouth in shock, but she laughed wickedly afterward.

" Well, that's such bad luck." She uttered.

" You know that you have to pay for that, sir!" The waiter huffed.

" It was a fucking accident, were you blind?" He barked.

Natalie only rolled her eyes and opened the door, and she left.

"Natalie! Wait!"

David charged at the door, but the bulky waiter stopped him like a wall.

David looked up and swallowed hard.

" Where are you going, son?" He folded his hands with a glare. " My colleague said that you have to pay for that."

" I just need to speak to my girlfriend, first." He pointed.

" No, you will do that after you have paid."

David scratched his head because he was clueless. He didn't have the money to pay for it.

The waiters surrounded him with their taunting eyes.

The last of the customers had just left behind Natalie and now it was just him and the waiters.

David took out his wallet even though he didn't have the full money. He took out what he had.

" Seven hundred." He raised it. " I'm sorry, that's all I've got."

" The whole thing or nothing."

" But I don't have the money."

" Give us your car key, you can come back for your car tomorrow when you bring the money."

David felt embarrassment creeping up his legs.

" I don't have a car." He exhaled.

The waiters looked at each other and burst out laughing.

" What kind of cheapskate fool is this?!" One mocked. " He can't even afford to pay for one bottle of soda?"

" I'm sorry–" David ran his hand through his hair.

" Look at him! A college student! You're just a smart church rat!"

David was angry, but he kept his anger inside him because he was the one at fault.

The door opened and a man entered with tattoos. He was in a black shirt and black pants.

He looked at the small crowd and stopped.

" What's this about?" He gave everyone a stare-down.

"The guy broke a bottle of soda, and doesn't have the money to pay." One of them explained.

" Well, he will have to pay up, we don't run a charity here." The man grunted.

" Please, I don't have the money." David pleaded.

" Then we will have to cut out your liver to clear your debt." The man said.

David felt a coldness in himself. They didn't look like it was a joke.

" Woo, wait–"

He was pushed against the wall so that he wasn't allowed to run away.

" Don't let him get away." The man ordered.

The waiters laughed as they held him.

Suddenly a fleet of cars parked in front of the restaurant and everyone composed themselves.

" He is here, the biggest customer is here." They muttered to themselves.

They even let go of David and went back to work.

About seven men in Black walked into the room. They had shades too and looked like bodyguards.

An old man entered the restaurant. He was dressed in expensive things and held a golden walking stick.

A pipe hung from the corner of his lips and he smoked as he walked in.

The waiters all greeted him, temporarily forgetting about David.

The man waved them away and was walking towards the bar when he noticed David. He stopped and stared at him.

" Who is this?" He asked. " A new guy?"

" No, a poor customer who couldn't pay for a bottle of drink he accidentally broke." The head of the waiters answered.

" I'm David." David saw the need to introduce himself. " I'm David Wyatt, I didn't mean to break the bottle."

" Well, he is a customer like me." The man smiled. " And mistakes happen."

The man raised his hand and one of his guards gave a waiter a few dollar bills.

The waiters looked at themselves in confusion.

" His debt has been cleared." The man confirmed.
