Evolutionary Surges (2)

Robert looked at the three men sitting across his table in shock, the sixth squad of the special force might seem like a normal squad to others but he knew it wasn't, the force was made by gathering the best elites of the country and the elites of the current age were all mutants.

The sixth squad on the other hand was known as the backbone of the special force gathering the best from the country all together and the person sitting across his table was the captain of the special force. Judging by status, alone he was way above his status as the governor and could definitely sit on par with the higher ups.

"Nice to meet you mr Aeric, my name is Robert Willstone, welcome to Cyberis honored visitors." Robert said trying to sound as courteous as possible.

'I don't think there's anything that warrants the country sending out their best squad force to personally deal with in Cyberis, if something like that were to happen the city would've been in chaos.' Robert thought while sweating slightly.

"It's nothing much actually, just a few questions." Aeric replied while twirling his fingers round a pen he picked on the table.

"Sure ask I'll be glad to answer."

"By chance have you seen traces of a third tier mutant in the city" Aeric asked while staring at Robert.

"A third tier?? all the third tiers are already registered with the government why would there be one in Cyberis?" Robert asked with a confused look on his face.

"The government rounded up the third tier mutants but some escaped the search back then." Aeric said while leaning back.

"Is he supposed to know that?" Damion asked.

"Don't worry he needs to know in case something like this happens again."

"When the first Evolutionary surge swept through the Earth Twelve years ago, the mutants back then were gathered by the government over time but a few didn't awaken their powers or develop a special trait instantly while some had powers even they themselves didn't know they had, over time after the second evolutionary surge some awakened their powers and directly skipped the first tier to awaken as second tier mutants."

"They had their powers right from the first surge but it just wasn't enough to awaken then making it fall into something similar to a dormant state. The assumption right now is that the same thing is happening right now after the third surge, he could've had his powers since the first surge but it was in a dormant state only awakening after the third surge skipping the previous tiers and awakening as a third tier mutant." Aeric explained.

Robert sat on the spot with a confused look on his face, "The first surge? Was there another one besides the one that happened days ago?" Robert asked.

"Have you seen traces of any rogue mutants lately? With lighting powers or something similar? You know what? Just give me the details of all the rogue mutants found in the city I'll check myself." Aeric said with an annoyed look on his face.

"Okay I'll do that right now" Robert said and was about to walk out of the office when Aeric called him back.

"Find a bath for me first and somewhere for me to rest, I reek of shit after staying in the wild for days." He said then walked out.

"When you're done just call my name, lead the two others there I just want to check a few things nearby." Aeric said then left the office without looking back.

"Please give me a few moments I'll be back" Robert said while looking at the emotionless Vincent and cold Damion.

Aeric left the office and walked down the streets picking a random direction while thinking of what happened twelve years ago and how it changed their lives. They had not always been like that, Vincent was once a cheerful kid and him....

"I wish I could just stay among them and live a normal life, sometimes ignorance is bliss." He thought while looking at the humans going about their daily lives and the buzzling city.

"But I can't afford to, if we aren't prepared before the upcoming calamity the whole of humanity will be wiped out, I can't afford to live in peace." He said with a cold look on his face then continued walking along the streets just like every other person taking a stroll.

Suddenly he paused on spot and closed his eyes for a few minutes then opened it and hailed a taxi. After almost an hour of driving he cane down from the taxi and walked into the cafe in front of him then stared at a man passing by.

"He has the same energy signature like the one in the forest without any difference but he's way weaker so it can't be him." Aeric thought while staring at Alex walking by.

"Either ways I'm taking him in." The next moment Alex eyes suddenly dulled for a slight moment then he changed direction and headed for the city hall.

"He's a mutant, walking to the city hall won't do much" Aeric said then turned around and left.

Orion woke up at the edge of the forest riddled with wounds and tattered clothes barely clinging to his body.

"I'm.. alive?" He said while panting, the first thing he checked was his right arm. That was where he kept all his efforts for the past few days, it he lost them he would definitely not feel good.

Checking his arm, all the black clusters in his body were now stationary, his arm had healed up and the eight colored clusters were silently sitting there...

"Thank god they're alright, I need to get out of here" he said then stood up while patting his body, he pretty much looked like a homeless refugee at the moment when he suddenly paused and looked at his arm.

"Eight??"

  • Ambush?

"Josh, behind you!" The sudden alarm made his body tense, adrenaline pulsing through his veins as he performed a swift barrel roll, dodging over to the trees to take cover.~~squeak~~ ~~squeak~~A little rabbit poked it's head out of the dense covers, it's eyes fixated on the soldiers."A rabbit." His tensed body relaxed, the rabbit was barely a feet long it couldn't pose any sort of harm towards the team."Don't move out alone, this forest gives off creepy vibes, any small mistake and we'll be mowed by a truck sized bear.""S-013 vision!""All clear, you can proceed." "Understood, move out." ---"What do you mean all the beasts suddenly vanished?" Alaster asked with a frown on his face."A short while ago the teams reported the same occurrence to the command center 'beasts suddenly vanishing from sight'" "I instructed the team to increase awareness and watch out for potential ambushes but nothing was found, all the beasts in the outer zone vanished." The deputy general said wit

  • Taking Down The Outer Zone 1

12:00pm Over a thousand soldiers stood upright before the forward base, each of them divided into different units. The light soldiers with assault rifles, sidearms, grenades and other close combat weapons attached, assigned as the Frontline of the charge. The snipers were fewer in numbers but each of them were armed with snipers to take down enemies from hundreds of meters away along with reconnaissance drones for scouting. The third units were called the suppressors, armed with heavy machine guns, their main duty was to be on standby and open fire when ordered to, a combined assault from this unit would wreck down a portion of the mountain itself. The last unit were the heavy long distance support troops, armed with rocket launchers and rocket propelled grenades {RPGs}Alaster stood on a platform hurriedly made by the soldiers, he nodded with a look of satisfaction on his face."Do you all remember my order?!" "Take down the Silvermist mountains within the next 72 hours!!" The sold

  • The Advance Order

"They don't act like mindless beasts anymore, they have a sense of purpose behind their actions, it's more like they're an entirely new specie, new life forms birthed into existence." "We'll figure everything out as we advance, by tomorrow we'll move." Damion said with a smirk on his face."I am quite curious about what you mentioned also, I'm in." "I never said you had a choice." Aeric had a wide grin on his face as he turned to face Vincent who still remained silent."You're coming with me also."---Two days laterAeric walked across the small camp at the foot of the mountain, watching the soldiers march round the camp filled with endless vigor. The efficiency of the soldiers was really frightening, they managed to set up a suitable forward base within a single day, even cleared out all the tier 1 beasts roaming on the periphery of the mountain."The army lives up to it's name I'll admit, if only the battle wasn't in this dense forest we would win easily." Damion said beside Aeri

  • The Source

In a village located at the foot of the mountains near Cyberis, Damion stood with arms crossed watching the army organize themselves, creating a temporary base and supply center for the fleet to march into the mountains by the next day.Because of the dense forests even tanks couldn't be used, they had to rely on foot troops armed with guns, rocket launchers and bombs to carry out the siege."If the terrain was a bit more favourable this battle wouldn't be a source of concern, but they have all the advantage in this situation." Damion thought while watching the troops passing by.Vincent stood silently nearby without a word, he only watched the soldiers passing by with an expressionless look on his face.'How do they even expect this operation to work out? Bullets don't work against even tier 1 beasts anymore, only a few would actually be affected by bullets, this doesn't look optimistic to me no matter how much I try to reason with it, it's like throwing away the lives of the soldier

  • Robert's Despair

"The offensive forces are split into four fleets based on the four closest cities to the mountains, Cyberis in the eastern side, Arizona to the North, Raylen to the West and Godora to the South. After we take control of the outer zone we will set up a temporary camp and advance towards the inner zone where the four forces will link up and take down the core zone." "The president wants the war to end within a week or two at most, this will be a blitz attack and we'll take down the Silvermist mountains as soon as possible." Eric nodded his head with a smile "I trust with your competent capabilities the mission would be completed with a breeze, it can't be that bad it's just a bunch of beasts living up in the mountains right?" "If it were just a "bunch" of beasts we wouldn't be having this meeting, we won't have to organize a fleet to surround the forest on all sides and the government won't get involved in this whole mess, I'll prefer it if you all take this very serious." Eric imm

  • Relocation To Arizona

Orion gasped for air, taking in short deep breaths, the sudden Influx of information took him by surprise he couldn't react to it at once he almost passed out on the spot."What.. was that?" Even though he tried to peep into it's memories the sudden Influx was enough to drown him in an instant. He stood up with wobbly legs and trogged back to the town leaving behind the dead wolf who lay on the ground with blank eyes.----"Brother!""Brother!!"Orion opened his eyes with a reluctant gaze in his eyes staring at his younger sister who was crouching beside his bed."Kass, what's wrong? I'm still feeling sleepy don't disturb me." Orion said then pulled his blanket over his head without another word."Wake up! Mother's calling you downstairs, you've had enough sleep already." "Fine, I'll come over." "Mother wants to to come over, Now!" Kass said with a quick pull on his cloth."Okay I've heard, I'm up." "Better, I'll be waiting downstairs!" Kass said with her tongue stuck out in jest.
