Miles' hands shook as he lifted the glowing rune from the shattered altar, the pulse of energy humming against his palms. The outlands had always been unforgiving, a place where demonic energy warped reality and monsters prowled without mercy. But this… this felt different. The rune’s light pulsed violently, as if alive, and Miles could feel its power crawling beneath his skin.
Ryan and the rest of the team pressed closer, their eyes glinting with greed. He barely had a moment to react before the earth beneath them shuddered violently. Another crack appeared, followed by a low, guttural roar reverberated from the fissure in the ground. Miles’ heart raced, and the hair on his neck bristled. “What the hell—!” someone shouted. The crack widened. Three massive heads emerged first. Each is larger than a horse’s torso. Black fur matted with demonic ichor. Eyes like molten coals burning with rage. Its Fanged jaws opened in unison. The roar that followed shattered stones and boulders inside the cave. A three-headed dire wolf dragged itself into the cavern, with its claws gouging trenches into solid rock as its colossal body followed. One head sniffed the air. The second locked onto the rune in Miles’ trembling hand. The third growled in fury. Ryan shouted orders, trying to mask his unease. “Attack it! Kill it! Now!” Following Ryan's orders, Jax immediately shot three arrows at the beast simultaneously but his attack did not have any effect on the beast. Provoked, the wolf swung its large paw at Jax who reacted too late and was instantly slashed in pieces. “Brother…..” Jace screamed as he witnessed the cruel demise of his twin brother. “You damn dog! I'm going to fucking burn you” he yelled, casting a huge fire ball and lunged it a the wolf. The attack was a successful hit and the effect shook the entire cave. For a brief moment, there was silence and the debris and dust covered everywhere blocking everyone's sight. “Did we get it?” Lena asked in confusion. “I think it's dead. Jace’ s fireball just now was too powerful for a beast in a low rank demonic nest to survive.” Ryan commented, his gaze locked on Jace who was a bit exhausted as he had used up too much mana to cast that fireball. “ Good job, Jace. Im sore-” Before Ryan could complete his sentence one of the wolf heads suddenly appeared from the fog. It opened its jaw and a grab and grabbed Jace behind, dipping its sharp fangs into his torso. Jace didn't even get the chance to cry out of pain before another wolf head appeared and tore him apart from the mouth of the first head. Blood splattered against the wall and floor. Miles gulped in fear as this was the most horrifying scene he had witnessed. They all stood before the towering beast, stunned by its immense bloodlust. Four more beasts came out of the rift that the three headed wolf walked out from. “Hell hounds.”. Ryan whispered as he was completely speechless and soon realized that the three headed wolf was beyond the level they could handle. Hellhounds were more ferocious compared to normal dire wolves “Run! We have to run” he shouted and made his way out of the cave. Miles barely had time to react, shoving the heavy bag of supplies over his shoulder as the rest of the team scrambled to escape. His heart hammered in his chest. The wolves’ snarls were deafening, each step of their massive paws shaking the ground. Climbing up the downward slope of the cave, miles were being dragged by the weight of the bags he carried. Halfway to the entrance, Ryan suddenly lunged at Miles. “Here, I’ll help with that bag,” he said, his voice deceptively calm. Miles’ eyes widened as Ryan yanked the heavy bag from his shoulder. In the same motion, Ryan plunged a dagger deep into Miles’ side. Pain erupted, sharp and fiery, stealing his breath. Miles gasped, staggering under the force of the betrayal. “What… why…?” Miles choked, clutching his wound as he stumbled to the ground. Cole bent right next to him and took the bag that contained the beast cores but Miles struggled to hold onto it. Ryan scowled and twisted the blade that was buried deep in Miles' gut. “ I'm sorry but you are going to stay behind to serve as bait for our escape. Consider this your last duty, Porter. My life still serves a more important purpose for mankind compared to yours. You should feel honored that I'm giving you a hero's death.” Miles groaned not from the pain of the stab wound but from the ache of betrayal he felt. “You can't do this to me. I can't die like this.” “Tch… trash like you complaining till the very end.” Ryan scoffed in irritation. The sound of the growling beast which seemed to be getting closer caught his attention. “Let's go Ryan!” Lena yelled. “ I can't stay and chat so this is goodbye, kid.” Ryan said in a non apologetic tone and kicked Miles' chest before he hurried off.Latest Chapter

The words hit like a spark in dry grass.Bron stepped forward immediately.“You—!”But Derek raised a hand, stopping him again. The silence that followed was heavy and dangerousDerek stared at Miles quietly.“…Are you trying to challenge me?”His voice was calm.Too calm.Miles blinked, then leaned back in his chair. “Challenge you?” he repeated, feigning ignorance. “No. I’m not planning anything like that.”He shrugged slightly.“I just got out of suspension. The last thing I want is another incident.” His gaze flicked toward Derek meaningfully. “I wouldn’t want to accidentally harm the school’s golden boy… especially one protected by nepotism.”The words landed like a bomb.Several students inhaled sharply. Bron’s face turned red with anger.Owen looked ready to explode.Even Derek’s calm expression stiffened slightly.Miles, however, remained relaxed as he was completely unbothered by their reaction. His message was clear. He wasn’t afraid. Not anymore. And for the first time— Som

Miles didn’t move and didn’t even flinch. The silence in the classroom became suffocating. The fat boy clenched his fist, clearly about to grab Miles by the collar—“Bron.”A calm voice echoed. The fat boy froze. He glared at Miles irritably and clicked his tongue irritably but stepped back.A boy with ash-blonde hair stepped forward from behind the group. His posture was relaxed, his expression composed, but the moment he appeared, the tension in the room deepened.Students straightened unconsciously. Some even avoided looking directly at him.He raised his hand slightly. “Back down. Stay cool.” he saidBron exhaled sharply but obeyed, retreating to the side. The ash-blonde boy then turned toward one of the others.“Bring me a chair.” he ordered “Yes, Derek.”One of the lackeys hurried away and dragged another chair forward, placing it directly in front of Miles’ desk. The ash-blonde boy sat down casually, crossing one leg over the other. He leaned forward slightly and locked his ga

As Miles walked, his phone suddenly buzzed in his pocket.Miles pulled it out.A notification flashed across the screen.Reminder: School Resumes TomorrowMiles stopped walking.“…Oh.”He stared at the screen for a moment before letting out a quiet sigh.He had been so focused on hunting, earning money, and getting stronger that he had completely lost track of time. His two-week suspension had passed without him even noticing.Thankfully, he had set a reminder beforehand—just in case.Otherwise, he might have missed the first day back entirely.Miles slipped the phone back into his pocket.School.It felt strangely distant now.Just two weeks ago, he had left those halls as a powerless student—someone looked down upon, someone who kept his head low, someone who avoided confrontation because he had no strength to back it up.Now…Everything had changed. The next morning arrived quickly.Miles stood in front of the towering school gates, staring quietly at the familiar sight. It had on

Miles’ eyes remained steady.“I’m doing fine on my own.”The silence between them stretched briefly.James exhaled softly, then smiled again.Well… I can’t say I didn’t expect some resistance. Still, I must admit, I’m impressed. Most hunters would have signed without even reading the second page.”Miles shrugged slightly.“I’m not hunting for comfort.”He thought briefly of Mia.Every decision he made revolved around her.Freedom mattered more than security right now.Speed mattered more than stability. He couldn’t afford delays. He couldn’t afford being assigned to guild missions that didn’t align with his goals.“You’re serious?” James asked, shaking his head slightly. “You might be too young to fully understand what you’re turning down.”Miles didn’t respond.James leaned forward, his tone becoming more persuasive.“Mr. Reed… may I offer you a piece of advice.”Miles looked up.“Solo hunters who grow too quickly tend to attract attention. Not all of it is friendly.”Miles’ express

After a moment, Miles nodded.“…Alright.”James smiled.“This way, please.”The two of them walked side by side down the street. A few minutes later, they arrived at a quiet café not far from the trade center. The late afternoon sun filtered softly through the glass windows, and the atmosphere inside was calm. They took seats across from each other.James folded his hands neatly on the table.Miles leaned back slightly, watching him carefully.Whatever this proposal was…It was clear his quiet solo hunts had finally drawn serious attention.James Kerr leaned back slightly in his chair, maintaining a polite smile as he began the conversation.“I must say, Mr. Reed… you’ve become quite popular among the hunters who frequent the Outlands recently. Many of them have started referring to you as—”“The Hoarder,” Miles finished calmly.James chuckled softly. “Yes. That’s the nickname going around. It’s not often someone attracts that kind of attention in such a short time. Especially a solo
Chapter 50
For the next several weeks, Miles maintained a routine that quickly became second nature to him. Every morning, he would leave early, ensuring Mia was either asleep or distracted, careful not to reveal where he was truly going. To her, he was simply taking on small hunter-related jobs, nothing too dangerous—just enough to earn money gradually. She never suspected that her quiet, reserved brother was venturing deep into the Outlands alone day after day, fighting demonic beasts and pushing himself to the brink. Each trip followed a similar pattern. Miles would cross the border gate with minimal conversation, sprint across the familiar terrain, and hunt relentlessly until the sun began its descent. Goblins, kobloids, horned wolves, spiked lizards—anything that crossed his path became prey. His movements grew sharper with every hunt, his reaction speed faster, his control over his abilities more refined. The hell flames he once used cautiously now flowed more naturally, burning hotter and
