CHAPTER 10 — Aurelius Bank

“Hope.”

Leaving the dean’s office, Gavin decided to test the knowledge he had just gathered earlier inside the university library.

Originally, he planned to spend at least the next few days studying the same things before attempting anything risky. But after hearing what Bella and those girls said earlier, his mindset began to change.

Inside the taxi, Gavin reopened his System panel. Earlier, he had heard several notifications echo inside his head, but chose to ignore them.

[System Stability: 40%]

Gavin had already seen this warning before, so he wasn’t particularly surprised when it appeared again.

Still, one thing caught his attention. System Stability had increased. Previously, it had decreased after he transferred money to the university account because the System considered it a reckless action.

Even so, Gavin didn’t regret it. After all, he still received points from it. With a total of 360 points now available, Gavin decided to finally test them.

Gavin stared at the Primary Attributes panel and noticed the small star symbol next to Dominance.

“Did I just receive a reward?” he muttered after noticing the level increase.

The moment he thought about viewing it, the Dominance bar automatically expanded.

*Intimidation

Two sub-attributes that previously didn’t exist had apparently just unlocked.

Immediately, Gavin remembered the first notification he ignored during his conversation with Olivia. And the second one that appeared inside the Dean’s office.

“So this is what the System meant...” Gavin thought quietly. “Things unlock when I perform actions with actual impact.”

Another thing Gavin now understood was this—The System would reward actions that supported his growth.

But at the same time, it could still punish him if he handled those actions carelessly.

“Fair enough,” he muttered.

Then he reopened the Points panel and stared at his attributes again.

“If I exchange points for Dominance or Intuition...” Gavin thought internally, “does that mean I’ll actually become smarter and more capable?”

Without wasting time, Gavin immediately selected the Intuition bar.

But things didn’t go the way he expected.

To increase Intuition by a single level, He needed two hundred System Points.

“For one level?” Gavin frowned. “That’s expensive as hell.”

Deciding not to rush, Gavin checked the Dominance bar next. Same result. Two hundred points for a single level increase.

Gavin fell silent for a moment. Trying to decide between the two attributes. This was also a test.

He wanted to personally experience what kind of changes the System could bring after leveling one of them up.

“...This one.” Gavin finally made his choice. “If I have to make decisions quickly in the future, I’ll need better judgment.”

In the end, Gavin decided to increase his Intuition.

Ding...!

Gavin frowned slightly.

The Intuition bar immediately updated.

But, He felt absolutely nothing.

“What the hell?” Gavin blinked. “Did I seriously just waste my System Points?”

Because he couldn’t sense any visible change at all, disappointment quickly appeared on his face.

“Whatever.” Gavin exhaled lightly. “I’ll try increasing the other stats later and see what happens then.”

The Riverton branch of Aurelius National Bank stood like a modern temple in the middle of Central Crown, Riverton’s financial district.

The moment Gavin stepped inside, he was greeted by dark stone walls and dim golden lighting. There was no loud laughter. No pointless conversations.

Everyone there looked like they already knew exactly how much they were worth. Meanwhile, Gavin himself felt like he possessed absolutely nothing.

At that moment, his hand rested inside the empty pocket of his black hoodie. His wallet was gone.

“At least now I know what I’m supposed to do,” Gavin muttered quietly before finally approaching one of the customer service desks.

“Good afternoon, sir. How may I assist you?”

Even though he felt nervous, Gavin forced a calm smile onto his face when the beautiful CSO greeted him.

“I’d like to open account access,” he said, trying to sound composed. “And maybe... private banking services.”

The smile on the woman’s face faded slightly. “Private banking?”

“Yes.”

Even Gavin himself immediately realized that those words sounded completely incompatible with someone like him.

But fortunately, the woman remained professional. “Do you have an appointment?”

“No.”

“Existing account?”

“I’m... not entirely sure.”

The woman’s gaze briefly dropped toward Gavin’s clothes before returning to his face.

“Identification?”

“My wallet was stolen.”

The moment those words left Gavin’s mouth, Someone behind him suddenly laughed.

“Private banking without ID?”

Gavin turned around and saw the voice came from a man sitting inside the premium lounge area while holding a small cup of coffee.

“Damn,” the man smirked. “Riverton gets weirder every year.”

Two people nearby chuckled lightly as well, instantly causing heat to rise across Gavin’s face.

“Fuck...” Gavin cursed internally. “Why do people like this always exist everywhere I go?”

“Sir?”

“Forget it...” Gavin exhaled quietly. “I think I came to the wrong—”

But just as he was about to turn away, A System notification suddenly appeared before his eyes.

[ Alternative institutional verification pathway available ]

Gavin narrowed his eyes slightly. Alternative pathway?

“What does that even—”

[ Initiate capital migration request ]

Even though he didn’t fully understand how the System could possibly handle something like this, Gavin ultimately had no other option except trying it.

“If I request an institutional capital migration...” Gavin spoke slowly, “...would physical ID still be required for preliminary verification?”

Again, the woman heard terminology that sounded strangely specific coming from someone Gavin’s age.

And because the wording was oddly precise, she unconsciously gave him more tolerance than before.

“Please wait a moment.”

She touched the earpiece in her ear while her eyes remained subtly fixed on Gavin.

“Mister Briggs, I need you in the main lobby.”

Meanwhile, Marcus—the man who laughed earlier—raised an eyebrow slightly.

“Pricillia...” he smirked. “You’re seriously going to process his request?”

Pricillia remained silent. The smile on her face was gone now.

Meanwhile, Gavin himself was already beginning to feel that coming here had been a mistake.

He was just about to abandon the entire thing, When approaching footsteps suddenly drew everyone’s attention.

Leon Briggs.

Gavin’s eyes immediately locked onto the name displayed on the badge hanging from the man’s chest as he emerged from the corridor.

Gavin could only follow the man’s quick movements and cold professional expression.

At first, Leon barely looked at Gavin properly before stopping beside the desk.

“What’s the issue?”

Pricillia answered calmly. “Private banking request. No ID. Claims institutional transfer.”

Only then did Leon finally look directly at Gavin. And Gavin immediately failed to hide his nervousness under that sharp gaze. An instant evaluation appeared inside Leon’s eyes.

“Mister Briggs,” Marcus suddenly called out lazily, “I don’t think you need to waste your time.”

Leon briefly glanced toward him. But Aurelius Bank operated under extremely strict protocols. Even if Gavin looked like a scammer, Leon still couldn’t simply throw him out without procedure.

“Sir,” Leon said calmly, “what specific type of service are you seeking?”

Gavin almost answered with 'I honestly don’t know either ' But another System panel suddenly appeared in his vision.

“I need a new pathway for capital deployment,” Gavin answered slowly. “And liquidity access.”

Leon blinked slightly. The sentence itself sounded reasonable. But hearing it come from someone dressed like Gavin made it feel strangely wrong.

Still, because professionalism came first, Leon continued calmly. “What asset scale are we discussing?”

“For the initial stage...” Gavin hesitated slightly before answering, “around one hundred million... dollars?”

Silence filled the lobby for several seconds. And then, Marcus and the two people inside the lounge suddenly burst into laughter.

“HAHAHAHAHAHA!!”
