Chapter 5

The Diamond Lounge was a masterclass in modern luxury. Located on the top floor of The Obsidian Club, it featured floor-to-ceiling windows that offered a panoramic view of Valmont City’s glittering skyline. Rain battered the thick glass, casting shifting shadows across the room.

Sitting alone in a circular white leather booth was a woman who looked like she belonged on the cover of Vogue if the model was currently plotting a murder.

Serena Sterling was breathtaking. She had sharp, aristocratic features, piercing ice-blue eyes, and raven-black hair cut into a sleek bob. She wore a tailored white pantsuit that exuded power, but the way her fingers tightly gripped her champagne flute betrayed her underlying anxiety.

Arthur stepped out of the private elevator, waving Elias off. He approached the booth silently.

"Julian," Serena snapped without looking up, her voice laced with venom. "If you're going to gloat, get it over with. Hand me the contract. Let's get this butchery finished so I don't have to look at your smug face."

"I think you have me confused with a lesser man," Arthur said smoothly, sliding into the booth directly across from her.

Serena’s head snapped up. Her blue eyes narrowed as she took in Arthur’s appearance. The faded jeans. The wet, cheap jacket. The scuffed boots. It was a jarring contrast to the multi-million-dollar decor surrounding them.

"Who the hell are you?" Serena asked, her tone dropping dangerously in temperature. "Where is Julian? And how did a vagrant get past Elias?"

Arthur didn't take offense. He simply activated the Eye of Insight.

[Target: Serena Sterling]

[Status: CEO, Horizon Neural Tech]

[Loyalty to Host: 0% (Stranger)]

[Hostility toward Julian Sterling: 100% (Blood Feud)]

[Asset Value: Horizon Neural Tech possesses a patented AI algorithm currently valued at $0 due to debt, but holds a projected future market cap of $500 Billion.]

[Current Debt: $25,000,000]

Arthur’s heart skipped a beat. Five hundred billion. The System wasn't just telling him about her, it was handing him the key to the future of the global tech industry for pennies on the dollar.

"Julian isn't coming," Arthur said casually, leaning back against the plush leather. "I threw him out into the street about ten minutes ago."

Serena let out a short, humorless laugh. "Right. You threw Julian Sterling, heir to the Sterling Law Empire, out of his own private party. Security!" she called out, looking toward the elevator.

Elias stepped out from the shadows, bowing deeply. "Yes, Ms. Sterling?"

"Elias, why is this man bothering me? Have him removed," she demanded.

"I am terribly sorry, Ms. Sterling, but I cannot do that," Elias said, keeping his head bowed. "You are speaking to Mr. Arthur Vance. The new, absolute owner of The Obsidian Club. He cancelled Mr. Sterling's party."

Serena froze. She looked at Elias, searching his face for the punchline of a joke, but the veteran manager was entirely serious. Slowly, she turned her gaze back to Arthur, re-evaluating him.

"You own this place?" she asked, skepticism fighting with shock. "You look like you fix the plumbing."

"I like to stay humble," Arthur smiled. "Julian owes you a meeting regarding the twenty-five million dollars of debt you owe him. Debt he is using to aggressively leverage a hostile takeover of Horizon Neural Tech."

Serena’s grip on her glass tightened until her knuckles turned white. "How do you know that? The debt transfer is strictly confidential."

"I know a lot of things, Serena. I know your AI algorithm is decades ahead of the market. I know Julian doesn't understand the tech, he just wants to strip it for parts to impress your father. And I know you would rather burn the company to the ground than hand it to him."

She stared at him, her chest rising and falling rapidly. "What do you want, Mr. Vance?"

"I want to make you a counter-offer," Arthur said, leaning forward. The playfulness dropped from his voice, replaced by the commanding weight of the System. "I will instantly wipe your twenty-five million dollar debt. Furthermore, I will inject an additional seventy-five million in liquid capital into Horizon Neural Tech by tomorrow morning."

Serena choked on her breath. "One hundred million dollars? Just like that? What's the catch?"

"I take fifty-one percent equity. I become the majority shareholder," Arthur stated. "You remain the CEO. You retain full creative and operational control. But when it comes to the board, my word is God. And, most importantly, we use the company to absolutely dismantle the Sterling family’s financial portfolio."

Serena stared into Arthur’s eyes. She was searching for deception, but all she found was an abyss of cold, unyielding confidence.

"Julian's father will destroy you," Serena whispered. "The Sterlings control the judges in this city. They control the politicians."

"I don't care about politicians," Arthur replied. He reached into his pocket, pulled out his cracked smartphone, and placed it on the table. He opened a digital contract the System had just generated.

"I care about results. The enemy of my enemy is my friend, Serena. Sign the screen, and Julian loses his leverage over you forever. Walk away, and you're handing him your life's work tomorrow morning."

Serena looked at the cracked phone screen. Then she looked at the door.

With a trembling hand, she reached out and signed her name with her index finger.

Ding.

[Asset Acquired: Horizon Neural Tech (51% Stake).]

[Funds Deducted: $100,000,000.]

[Reward: 10,000 System Points (SP) generated.]

Arthur smiled. The war had officially begun.

Chapter 57The frozen moment in time shattered. The roaring wind returned with a vengeance. The dying Harvester monolith crashed into the Mediterranean Sea ten miles offshore, sending a massive, three-hundred-foot tidal wave racing toward the island of San Marcos.Arthur didn't even look at the incoming tsunami. He tossed the fading, useless shaft of the Spear of Genesis aside. The magnetic casing dissolved into violet dust before it hit the marble balcony."Vera! Hyperion!" Arthur shouted. Before the tidal wave could strike the newly rebuilt capital, Hyperion shot down from the stratosphere. The plasma-wrapped Vanguard positioned himself directly between the city and the ocean. He didn't build a wall; he simply unleashed a localized burst of thermal radiation. The three-hundred-foot wall of seawater slammed into the thermal barrier and instantly flash-boiled into steam. It looked like a jagged wound in reality, bleeding a deep, terrifying violet light. From the rift, the weapon descended. It wasn't a gun. It didn't have a trigger or a stock. It was a six-foot-long javelin composed entirely of condensed, swirling anti-matter encased in a shifting magnetic field. It hummed with a low, bone-rattling frequency that made the hair on everyone’s arms stand on end.Arthur stepped forward and reached out."Master, do not touch it!" Vera warned, taking a rare step backward, her instincts screaming that the weapon was anathema to biological life.Arthur ignored her. The heat radiating off his body spiked to ten thousand degrees. He slammed into the top of the Harvester vessel. The impact should have melted the alien hull instantly. It was a lightless, frozen void where human ambition went to die.Arthur Vance wasn’t human anymore. He stood on the bridge of the Abyssal Leviathan, a deep-sea exploration vessel he had purchased from the Level 5 System Store for an effortless half-million SP. The ship was constructed from self-repairing dark matter and propelled by a frictionless gravity drive. It descended through the pitch-black water at terrifying speeds.Ares stood like a monolith at the back of the bridge, his red optics cutting through the dim cabin lighting. Nemesis hovered near the navigation console, her shadow-wrapped form completely unbothered by the crushing depths outside the viewport. Vera stood directly beside Arthur, her hand resting on her combat blade out of pure habit."Depth: thirty-five thousand feet," the ship’s automated AI reported in a smooth, synthetic voic
