"You!" Jing Yanxi glared at her sister with growing anger, but at this time she couldn't add any more trouble. Jing Yanxi cursed inwardly. "Damn! This child really makes me angry. But he will definitely complain about this to father!"

"Huh! Do you think I will be afraid of your threat?" Jing Yunxi pouted her mouth at Jing Yanxi. Then, the girl turned to look at Hua Fei.

"Brother Fei! Is Brother Fei okay?" Jing Yunxi squatted down and helped Hua Fei to get up. The little girl's eyes looked very worried when she saw that the condition of the boy she secretly admired didn't look very good.

"I'm fine. Don't worry!" Hua Fei replied while wiping the blood on the corner of his lips with the corner of his dirty sleeve. Even though the pretty handsome boy's entire body felt sore and bruised, he chose to move his body away from the beautiful-looking little girl from the Jing Family.

“Young Master Hua, let me help you walk!” A female bodyguard offered to help. However, of course Hua Fei would reject it by shaking his head.

"I can do it myself!" Hua Fei gently pushed away the bodyguard's hand as she tried to get up. For a few moments, he managed to stand up and walk over to take Jing Ling's basket containing snakes. However, his state of being too weak made him unsteady again.

"Brother Fei, be careful!"

However, the situation is not very good. Hua Fei's body could no longer endure the continuous pain caused by the torture from Jing Yanxi's men, which was quite brutal. Suddenly, this boy staggered and immediately fell to the ground.

"Young Master Hua Fei!" One of the female bodyguards quickly approached the long-haired boy with a sweet and gentle face.

"Brother Fei!" Jing Yunxi screamed spontaneously when she saw Hua Fei's body fall again.

The bamboo basket he was carrying also rolled over until the cover opened. No wonder, dozens of black and red striped snakes scattered out of the bamboo basket. However, strangely, the movements of dozens of reptiles are not as agile as snakes in general. They were so slow, as if they were reluctant to leave the place where they were scattered.

"Mm--my snake!" Hua Fei tried to move to grab some of the black and red striped snakes that he might still be able to catch back. He spoke in his heart. "Aiyaaa! Little Brother Ling's snakes are all loose! He'll definitely be very disappointed later!"

"Snakes? Turns out the basket contains snakes!" One of the female bodyguards jumped in surprise and looked frightened. "There are so many of them!"

"Aaaaah! Ss-snake!" Jing Yunxi screamed hysterically, as several snakes slithered as if they were going to approach her. "Brother Feeeei, I'm scared!"

The guards looked panicked by the snakes scattering from the bamboo baskets. However, they still thought about the safety of their lady. "Little Miss, be careful and get out of the way!"

Jing Yunxi could only stand frozen in place with her face as pale as cotton, she even lifted one of her legs to look at a small snake moving nearby. "Aaaaahh! Help!"

"Little Miss, calm down! We will kill them all!"

Hua Fei whispered in a barely audible voice. "Please don't kill them! I have to bring them alive to our teacher!"

It seemed that the six female bodyguards did not hear Hua Fei's words at all, who were drowned out by the noise and screams of the people who were busy killing the black and red striped snakes that she and Jing Ling had worked so hard to achieve.

"Get rid of the snakes before they attack us!" shouted the sadistic looking guard.

Several female bodyguards immediately drew their swords to slash the bodies of the snakes with this very deadly poison. Hua Fei immediately stopped their actions, the boy said in a low and almost inaudible voice.

"Please don't kill them! Little Brother Ling took great pains to catch them all!"

"But these are very dangerous snakes!" shouted one of the female guards as she continued to slash her short sword at the snakes who were trying to escape. "They could kill us all!"

“Little Miss, move away quickly!” shouted one of the women who was busy dealing with Jing Ling's snakes until there were none left. Jing Yunxi quickly ran and hid behind one of her bodyguards.

"Please! Please! Don't kill them!" Hua Fei, who was helpless, could only watch with sadness at the corpses of the black and red striped snakes that could no longer be saved.

"You have killed them all!" How devastated Hua Fei felt at the killing of the snakes he and Jing Ling had caught.

"You don't know how important those animals are to us!" Hua Fei shed tears, because he also hunted them from early in the morning until noon. The two boys had to enter the dense forest and follow the river from the end of the valley to the top of the hill just to hunt this dangerous animal.

"Young Master Hua, if we don't kill those dangerous beasts, then we will be the ones they attack." Jing Yunxi's personal bodyguard said as she put away the snake corpses.

"Did you see them attacking you? They can't even move like before we caught them. Because we have paralyzed them." Hua Fei spoke while moving slowly to collect the corpses of the snakes. "Even though they are dead, I still have to take them all!"

Jing Yunxi's bodyguards looked at each other guiltily. Now they all realized that the beast meant a lot to the two young masters of the Cloud Valley Sect.

"Even though a dead snake might not be included in the assessment, I hope Jiang Lao is willing to give us another chance," Hua Fei said softly with teary eyes.

"How is this? Will we not be able to pass to the next stage?"

The rice has become porridge, regretting what has happened is also useless. Even though it felt very unlucky, Hua Fei tried hard to calm herself down. "What can I do? It's all happened."

"Idiot!" While cursing, Hua Lin landed a slap as swift as a flying arrow, hitting Hua Feng's temple squarely. "Aaah!" Hua Feng screamed so loudly that a few people turned to look at him. Hua Lin didn't care about the gazes of those around them. He continued scolding Hua Feng. "Of course it's not a talisman, it's something to ward off the danger of starvation!" 'Why did I have to meet someone as stupid as him?' Hua Lin felt unlucky in this regard. Hua Feng had no chance to dodge. The slap wasn’t that hard, but it was strong enough to make his body stagger sideways, nearly losing his balance. 'Ward off the danger of starvation? Isn't that just food?' Hua Feng began to understand what his senior meant. Hua Feng rubbed his temple, which had grown a little warm. He groaned in annoyance. "Young Master, you're torturing me again!" "Young Master is always like this. I was just asking a question, but instead, Young Master oppressed me." Hua Feng’s expression turned sad, his lips poutin

"Then I’ll push him to agree!" Mu Lei suddenly declared firmly. Mu Lei was an outsider who had once been saved by Hua Yan during the bloody tragedy of the Mu Tribe five years ago, when a rebellion broke out between the "dirty clothes" and "clean clothes" factions within the tribe, nearly costing him his life to be beheaded. However, it seemed the gods had sent Hua Yan just when his life was hanging by a thread. He narrowly escaped death at the sword of Mu Yan, the Mu Tribe’s traitor, all thanks to Hua Yan’s help. Since that day, he vowed to dedicate his life to repaying the man who had saved him. Even though Hua Yan had long since freed him and never brought it up again, Mu Lei stubbornly insisted on serving as Hua Yan’s guardian, as well as his family’s. "Very well. We’ll see," said Elder Hua Lei this time. Everyone could only hope that Hua Yan wouldn’t mind the security preparations they had made this time. Meanwhile, over at Hua Lin’s courtyard, the young man looked extremely

Hua Yan and Jing Yue stopped their activity, exchanging complex glances tinged with slight disappointment. Both of them steadied their breathing and tried to calm themselves. “Mother, don’t you want to say something to me before I leave?” Jing Ling’s voice startled both his parents. “That naughty boy again!” Hua Yan was slightly annoyed by the shout from behind the door. He let out a small huff, then reluctantly released his embrace. Jing Yue only gave a faint smile at the disappointment on her husband's face, then replied, “Just a moment, Ah Ling. I’m preparing everything your father needs.” Outside the door, Jing Ling furrowed his brows with a slight question in his heart. What exactly were his parents doing in there on a hot midday like this? However, he didn’t want to think too deeply about it. In the end, the young man said, “Alright, Mother. I’m sorry if I disturbed you and Father. I’ll wait outside!” “Very well,” replied Jing Yue from inside the room. Jing Ling’s footste

Hua Lin busied himself loading dried food and snacks into his bag. The sweet aroma of honey and the sharp tang of spices filled his nose, bringing a comforting sensation amid the chaos of preparation. He added one more bottle of honey before pausing, eyeing the bulging pouch. “Ah, this might be too heavy,” Hua Lin thought as he scratched his head. There was a sense of reluctance in reducing even a few items. His eyes kept drifting toward the pile of his favorite snacks, making it hard to part with any of them. But… what if they laugh at me later? he murmured inwardly, before finally lifting the entire load with a satisfied smile. But if I cut down my supplies, I’d regret it. Hua Lin scratched his head again despite it not itching. What now? What if they make fun of me? Ah, whatever. What’s the point of worrying about that? Better safe than sorry, Hua Lin thought as he hoisted his belongings. Besides, we’ll be riding in a carriage. What’s there to worry about? Alright then. Won’t

  • 67. Journey Preparations

Meanwhile, Jing Ling began preparing everything needed for supplies during the journey. One of his caretakers was also involved in the flurry of activity. In the corner of the room, Su Ruo, Jing Ling’s loyal caretaker, was folding clothes with utmost care. Her delicate fingers trembled slightly, as if each piece of fabric carried a weight of emotion. “Young Master.” Su Ruo’s voice sounded hoarse, with a bitterness she could not conceal. “This time, you’ll be going to a place that is unfamiliar and far away. Auntie hopes you’ll be careful and not reckless.” “Hmm.” Jing Ling only responded with a soft grunt while wrapping his new spear in a red cloth. He glanced at Su Ruo with an indifferent look. Su Ruo continued in a softer tone, almost a whisper, “You must also follow Master’s advice. Don’t trouble him during the journey.” With a calm demeanor, Jing Ling replied, “Auntie Ruo, don’t worry. I’m grown up and I know what I have to do.” Su Ruo sighed and returned to her task. “Aunti

Her eyes, blurring Jing Yunxi’s vision. She could only wipe them away silently in a voiceless cry. Her tears fell and shattered like her hope to meet Hua Fei, the one she adored. ‘This sorrow feels like an endless nightmare in the dark of night. This longing is more bitter than bile. Yet the wall between us is so strong and arrogant.’ Jing Yunxi wept quietly in her heart as she walked under the cruel gaze of Jing Yue behind her back. Meanwhile, behind another wall, Hua Fei stood tall like a frozen statue. There was a trace of disappointment on his handsome face, along with helplessness. In the end, he could only lower his head in sadness. Beside Hua Fei, a man in a blue robe gently patted his shoulder. “There are things more important than a woman, and you must be able to choose between them.” “Ah Fei understands, Uncle.” Hua Fei gave a faint, bitter smile. “Prepare to leave,” Hua Yan said as he walked away. “Yes, Uncle.” Hua Fei responded with a respectful bow even though his u
