Chapter 10. One giant step for me

They arrived at the company building; it was a sixty storey building with glass mirror walls. We went in and I observed the interior, it was perfect albeit dusty but still perfect. It seems this building was a place where movies were produced as I saw many staged figures and also a beauty studio as well as a music studio.

“Your father's company is part of the entertainment industry?” Maximus asked the lady beside him.

“Yes Sir, he also sponsored my music career.” she replied.

“You can sing?” Maximus exclaimed as this was the first time he's ever seen a musician, although he's lived in Broadway City ever since he moved in with Marilyn's family, but he's never had the time of indulging in any sort luxury, especially following up music stars.

“Yes Sir, I once collaborated with Esther Joseph.” she replied. Maximus was stunned. Esther Joseph!? The Queen of Media!? It is said she worked her way to the top all on her own.

“Yes. Is something wrong Sir?” she replied a bit confused as if it wasn't a thing to be surprised about. Seeing her expression Maximus couldn't help but ask.

“Is your collaboration a common knowledge?”

“Why, yes Sir.. uhm, have you never followed up on music?” the lady with an incredulous expression on her face.

“Truly I was a frog in a well.” Maximus thought aloud as he shook his head. Only now I truly understand that the Zenith Family had truly suppressed him without his knowledge. This piece of knowledge spoiled his mood.

“Come, let’s go.. I need to buy a villa for my personal use.” Maximus said as he turned around with a somber expression on his face.

Maximus was now headed to an Estate management agency. Anita had told him that if he wanted to buy a house, they were his best bet. The blue colored Rolls-Royce Sweptail cruised through the city of Broadway and entered the Roxwells district, this district was owned by the Roxwells family clan, they were known to be formidable and unrestrained, one could think of them as a Mexican gangster family.

“Be careful, the Roxwells family controls this district, they are known to be shrewd and sometimes they tend to extort money from rising rich men.” Anita advised.

“Don't worry. The agency is just a few more blocks from here, right?” Maximus asked while swerving from the disturbing topic.

“Yes Sir.” she replied but she still wasn't at ease. Maximus could feel her emotions bubbling, he gazed at her hands and saw they were balled up into fists.

“What tragedy did you suffer in this area?” Maximus asked her.

“Huh!?” Anita stuttered taken aback by Maximus' question.

“Something happened to you here, I'm I right?” Maximus asked her again. Before she could answer, the car slowed to a stop.

“Mister Dameon, we have arrived.” the driver said to Maximus before stepping out to open the door for Maximus and Anita.

“Let's see if they can help get me a pretty decent house.” he said to Anita and went in. They went straight to the receptionist counter, requested to speak to the person in charge, went upstairs and then into the office of the manager. Maximus made the man understand he desired a villa and not a small bungalow.

“Mr Dameon, do you have the money to purchase such a house?” the man said with a tone that showed that he was clearly looking down on Maximus. He had thought Maximus was just a rich son of a second-tier family or perhaps the nephew of a wealthy businessman.. which will garner him respect in any low tier place, but certainly in the Roxwells district.. the Roxwells were just as powerful as the Zenith Family, so when Maximus said he was new to the city of Broadway and that he didn't have a company but he had plans to start one soon, the man couldn't help but look down on Maximus, and to make matters worse, Maximus had selected one of the most costly villa in a district reserved only for the rich. He had selected the Crystal Peak Villa

“I am sorry Mr Dameon but I can not help you. I don't think you have the money to purchase the Crytal Peak Villa. You are new in town and may not know but that Villa was once owned by Senator Martinez before he passed away, he had no heir nor family so the Yorkshire Government placed the Villa on lease. Only the truly wealthy can afford to buy it.” the manager explained with a haughty expression.

“How much is it?” Maximus asked with a frown. He knew well that the man in front of him was clearly looking down on him which was annoying. He had been looked down on all his life, now he is rich and powerful, how can he allow himself to be underestimated and bullied again.

“That Villa is worth three million dollars.” the man replied with a smug on his face. His answer made Anita burst into laughter, she couldn't control herself. The man was annoyed by Anita's action.

“Mister Dameon, please restrain your servant girl.” the man said while looking at Anita with a scowl. His statement brought a frown to Maximus' face.

“I had wanted to do business with you, but it seems I have to take my proposal elsewhere.” Maximus said as he stood up.

“Anita, let's go.” he said and opened the door and left. The man snorted as if he had expected Maximus to leave after hearing the price of the Villa.

Downstairs Maximus saw the bank manager who had just walked into the reception lobby.

“Mister Dameon!” he called out to Maximus respectively.

“If it isn't manager Miller. How are you doing and what are you doing here?” Maximus asked as he shook the man's hand.

“I am here to get the papers you requested documented by this agency.” the man replied.

“Okay, well I have to be going now. Oh! manager Dameon, I wanted to know if it will be possible to transfer more money to your bank?” Maximus asked. He was planning on selling a few more of the assets inside his space ring.

“Why yes Mister Dameon, how much do plan on transferring?” he asked with excitement gleaming in his eyes.

“I don't know yet, but should be around a hundred to two hundred million dollars.” Maximus said nonchalantly as if the sum didn't matter to him. Manager Miller and Anita were stomped by how casual Maximus mentioned the amount.

“Just who is this guy!?” Manager Miller and Anita thought to themselves at the same time.

“Ye.. yes.. wow.. I mean.. when?” Manager Miller struggled to keep his composure.

“Well, by tomorrow noon no doubt.” Maximus said, then checked his gold wristwatch.

“I have to leave now Manager Miller. I will see you tomorrow.” Maximus bid farewell to Manager Miller, leaving the man stomped for words. He watched Maximus and Anita walked into the blue colored Rolls-Royce Sweptail and the driver drove off.

“I am glad he chose my bank, the gods favor me too much.” He said and then turned around towards the stairs.

“I wonder what they were here for. Oh I remember he said he needed to buy a house. I am sure Jonah have scored a big profit this time.” Manager Miller said thinking of how lucky the manager of this agency must be to have Maximus as his client.

Manager Miller walked into the office after knocking. He shook hands with the agency manager.

“Long time no see Jonah.” Manager Miller greeted the man.

“Hello Miller. What brings you to my office today?” Jonah asked.

“Well, a big client of mine just purchased the Dean Media Company and instructed me to get the paperwork ready.” Manager Miller said with excitement.

“You are so excited about running errand for someone. Hmm, he must be someone big. Who is he?” Jonah asked with interest.

“Well you already know him. It's Mister Maximus Dameon. He just left your office a few minutes ago. I am sure you have scored a big one this time. Tell me, which house did he buy?” Manager Miller was so excited he did not notice the shock expression on his friend's face.

“You mean the kid in blue suit?” Jonah asked with fear.

“Yes of course. Why the long face?” Manager Miller asked.

“Where is he!?” Jonah said with raised voice as he sprang up from his seat.

“Huh!? What's wrong? He left already in his car.” Manager Miller said. He could not understand why Jonah was behaving this way.

“Oh my God! I just lost a great deal and a rich client!” Jonah exclaimed as he slumped back to his seat in defeat.

“Huh!? Don't tell me you refused to sell to him? That kid is a hundred million dollar rich businessman!” Manager Miller shouted without knowing he had breached his oath not to reveal the assets of his clients.

“Hun.. hundred million dollars?” Jonah said quietly. He could not believe he just lost such a rich client. He could not help but think if he had sold the Villa to Mister Gold at three million dollars, his commission was three hundred thousand. Three million dollars gone because of his stupidity! No wonder the lady behind him had laughed at the time he mentioned the amount. That was merely a meagre sum to them. gods! He had truly lost a great opportunity.

While Jonah was bemoaning his fate, Maximus had gone to another agency and managed to purchase the Crystal Peak Villa.

“Congratulations on being the current owner of the Crystal Peak Villa.” manager of Shelton Estate Agency said as he shook hands with Maximus with smiles on his face.

“From now on, it will be called: The Dragonborn Villa” Maximus responded with smiles as well.

Finally, everything was falling in place one after the other.

“One giant step for me.. one giant step towards my goal and revenge.” Maximus murmured with a wicked smile on his face.
