Chapter 2
Isaac couldn’t believe his eyes. The young woman whose every movement and smile had captured the hearts of the men around her was now skin and bones, and her eyes had lost their light. Her features were still as beautiful as before, but there was a horrific scar on her face.

Isaac frowned. His voice was shaky as he asked, “Ally, w—what happened to you?”

“W—who are you?” Allegra’s voice was shrill, and she looked agitated.

“Me? I’m Isaac, your husband!” He hadn’t expected her to react like this.

Chuck Gill got to his feet and roared, “You’re a fucking liar! Allegra’s husband died seven years ago. He’s a murderer who was sentenced to death! Do you even know where you are, you asshole? How dare you come here and beat me up!” He pulled his phone out.

Isaac glared at him, his eyes turning red with rage. His murderous intent filled the washroom, making Chuck feel like he was suffocating. He staggered backward in fright and pointed at Isaac, stammering, “Y—you… what are you doing? I-I’m the manager here.”

“Fuck off!” Isaac roared, his domineering aura making Chuck flee the washroom in fear.

“Ally, don’t you recognize me? Look, it’s me, Isaac,” he said gently as he took a step toward Allegra.

She shook her head vigorously and said, “Isaac’s dead. W—who are you? Get away from me!”

Isaac’s heart twisted at her reaction. He nodded and said, “Okay, okay. Calm down. I’ll leave.”

He turned to leave, but when he looked up, he saw Chuck approaching him with three fierce-looking security guards. Chuck shouted, “Allegra Booth, get the fuck out here! I made you stay back to clean the washrooms, yet you got someone to come beat me up. Do you have a death wish?”

Though Allegra was disfigured, he knew she had a gorgeous figure hidden underneath that ugly cleaner’s uniform. Even a celebrity was no match for her. He’d intended to have his wicked way with her tonight, but he hadn’t expected her to have a backup plan.

Allegra was still dazed. She was certain that Isaac’s death sentence had been carried out seven years ago, but she couldn’t deny that the man before her looked just like him. She was pulled out of her reverie when she heard Chuck’s bellow. It was only then that she realized how much trouble she was in. She ran out of the washroom to see Isaac surrounded by Chuck and the security guards.

“Allegra, I didn’t expect you to sell yourself to this pretty boy after pretending to be such a chaste woman with me. You’re such a slut!” Chuck said menacingly.

Isaac looked at him. He pointed at Allegra and said, “Get on your knees and apologize to Ally. I’ll forgive you since this is your first strike.”

“What?” Chuck let out a derisive laugh. “Do you think looks can kill, you brat? You’re up against the four of us. We’ll crush you like an ant!” Then, he stopped laughing and pointed at Isaac. “Get him!”

The three security guards immediately reached out to grab Isaac, but he gave them the chance to touch him. As the commander-in-chief of such a huge army, there was no way they were a match for the Drakon’s power. He swept past them, and before they realized what was going on, they were sent flying after being dealt a blow each.

Chuck gaped at them as they rolled around on the floor, clutching at their abdomens. Then, he looked at Isaac again. It was as if he hadn’t lifted a finger.

“Y—you’re a monster!” he screamed, turning to flee. Unfortunately for him, Isaac caught him by the collar and said coldly, “Get down on your knees and apologize to Ally.”

Allegra was terrified by this scene. She didn’t expect this man would be so strong.

Chuck turned to glare at Isaac. “In your dreams! There’s no way I’ll apologize to that ugly bitch, let alone grovel at her feet.”

Isaac gave him five slaps, only stopping when blood trickled from his mouth and nose. “Get on your knees and apologize. This is my last warning.”

To Chuck, his voice sounded like a siren from hell, his face was comparable to the devil. He nodded and turned around, plopping onto his knees before Allegra. “I’m s—sorry. P—please, forgive me.” After that, he passed out.

Allegra looked at Isaac fearfully, then realized Isabella was standing nearby. She let out a yelp of surprise and took off her gloves before running to her. Then, she dragged Isabella away without a look back. As they hurriedly got onto the bus, Allegra could only think of fleeing. She didn’t know whether the man who claimed to be her husband was real.

The bus started to move. She sighed with relief when she saw that Isaac wasn’t following them.

“Mom, that man was a good guy. Why did you run? He even took me to have fried chicken.” Isabella turned to look out the window with confusion.

Allegra held her face tearfully and said, “Don’t you remember what I told you? Never speak with strangers. Do you understand me?”

“But I was really hungry. Madam Fran was bullying me, and the man helped me.”

Allegra sobbed harder at the sight of Isabella’s innocence.

When they arrived at the farmers’ market, they hurried inside. After Isaac had been sentenced to death, Andrew had taken over her house. She and Isabella were no match for him, and her mother had always favored him.

For the sake of Isabella’s education, Allegra had no choice but to move to this dirty, rundown place. They were only able to stay here rent-free after her father had spoken to Madam Fran.

They stepped onto the stairwell after exiting the dark, narrow alley. Allegra unlocked the door to a small apartment on the third floor. When she pushed the door open, she was greeted by the sight of some ruffians smoking inside, circling a fierce-looking Madam Fran.

Allegra let out a surprised cry. When she was sure that she hadn’t entered the wrong unit, she walked inside while holding onto Isabella’s hand. She forced herself to smile and say, “Madam Fran, what’s going…”

Madam Fran cut her off. “Where’s that bastard? Why didn’t he come back with you? Since he had the nerve to make me end up like this, he has to pay the price—100,000 dollars, and not a single cent less.”

100,000 dollars?

This was an astronomical sum to Allegra. She shook her head and said, “Who are you referring to? I don’t know anyone like that.”

Madam Fran shot to her feet and narrowed her eyes. “You don’t know him? Why would he help your little bastard beat me up if there isn’t anything between you two? You know what. I don’t care. You’ll have to cough up the money, then.”

At this moment, Isaac’s frosty voice rang out. “What will you do if I say that I won’t be giving you a dime?”
