“The Smith’s are finished. They are certainly doomed because Mr Foleys will never let them go scot-free especially now that they've brought him shame and ridicule.”

“I want to see how Mr Foleys will deal with Smiths.”

“Me too. I want to see how this useless idiot will save the Smiths from being destroyed by the Foleys!”

Just as the onlookers were discussing, thuds of slaps sounded like a deafening thunderstorm, leaving some red blooded marks on Jade's face.

“Slaps! Slaps!”

Jade's defiance and statement got her grandmother, Mrs Smith Senior enraged and she furiously slapped her without reservation and yelled angrily at her, taunting, “How dare you go against my decision because of this idiot?! How dare you lead the Smiths into doom by calling off your wedding to Mr Foley junior?! Why can't you die alone if you're tired of living?! Must you force others to die with you?!”

Mrs Smith Senior’s legs were trembling vigorously with fear after hearing Jackson’s displeased words.

Then, turning to Jackson, Mrs Smith Senior kowtowed before him and pleaded, “Mr Foley's junior, please don't be mad at my family and wipe us out. We didn't plan to disgrace you. Please spare us and I assure you that Jade is going to marry you, nothing will stop it.”

“Jade, please don't drag me into your death if you're tired of living!” Lily also joined her grandmother to scold and reprimand Jade for calling off the wedding.

“Jade, this idiot can't even save himself from danger much more saving you and our family. Don't be so stupid and foolish, Jade. Hurry now and marry Mr Foley and I promise you that you would even live to enjoy the decision all through your lifetime!”

“I have told you people that Aiden remains my husband and I have no plans of divorcing him in the nearest future. So, there is no way I can marry Jackson because I can't be his wife when Aiden is my legally married husband.” Jade remained firm and resolute with her stand amidst the chaos, reproach and commotions.

Slaps! Slaps!

Some crispy thuds of slaps hovered again on Jade's face as both her grandmother and Lily landed yet another furious and resounding slaps on her face and then pushed her gravely wounded self towards Jackson and yelled, “Go down on your knees now and beg Mr Foley to accept you as his wife! Don't you know that it's a very rare and great opportunity for you to have attracted the Foleys’ admiration?! Beg him now and save us from being annihilated!”

“Stop!”

Aiden yelled angrily at Lily and Mrs Smith Senior and then hurriedly helped Jade who had been pushed to the ground to stand up.

Then, he said, “Why are you forcing Jade to marry this foolish and useless Jackson Foley?! Jade has made her decision and I think that all of you should respect her for that. As for being annihilated, I have told you not to be worried because I am going to save and protect you from dangers for Jade's sake but you have to first respect her decision.”

“Get lost out of my sight right now, idiot!” Lily bellowed and rebutted Aiden immediately, taunting, “Who do you think you are to stop us just now?! I'm not Jade that you can deceive so easily with your deceptive words. And for your information, kindly note that you cannot even save yourself from dying in Mr Foley's hand today!”

Mrs Smith Senior also taunted Aiden condescendingly, “Aiden, my family, the Smiths, housed you, provided for all your needs and protected you from both external and internal dangers for five years. For these five years also, you dragged my family down and made us lose face in the public, suffering all kinds of humiliation, mockery and dejection. We even got bankrupt because of the fact that my beautiful daughter, Jade, married you. In these past five years, you were mentally unhealthy and crazy or maybe, you pretended to be crazy just to stay in our family and drag us down. Now that you claim to have recovered from your madness, don't you think that the best thing you would do will be to repay our kindness by leaving my daughter Jade. Must you continue to torture us by dragging us down to grave?!”

“Preposterous!” Aiden rebutted her claims immediately. “The Smith family didn't house me rather Jade and Mr Jasper Smith Senior did.”

The members of the Smith family had always treated Aiden with contempt, hatred, dejection and mockery starting from the first day when Jade brought him home. None of them welcomed him. They even refused to allow him to stay in their house and he would have thrown him out of their house immediately if not for the presence of Jade's grandfather, Mr Jasper Smith Senior who was at that time the patriarch of the Smith family. It was only Mr Jasper Smith who praised Jade for bringing him home. He even asked Jade to marry him against the wishes of other members of the Smith's family.

Aiden replied how Jade and Mr Jasper Smith Senior were very instrumental to his survival in the past five years and how he had been mocked by the rest member of the Smith family.

‘How could Mrs Smith Senior now shamelessly claim that they housed, fed, provided and protected him in the past five years?’

Was she thinking that Aiden will not know all the things done to him by them just because he was crazy and mentally unstable in the past?

Mr Smith Senior's statement didn't go down well with Aiden and he quickly rebuffed her claims.

Aiden replied her very coldly and said, “You and other members of the Smith family didn't housed me for five years neither did you fed me nor protected me. Instead, you all humiliated me, and taunted both Jade and Mr Smith Senior for being so kind to me. It was Jade and Mr Jasper Smith who treated me with kindness for the past five years and that's why I may even save any other members of the Smith family from any aggressors. However, I will never save anyone who dared disrespect Jade and his late grandfather. I will also not save anyone who can't respect me and acknowledge me as their savior!”
