Crash!

Elang shot out from the blast smoke like a bullet. The Iron Gauntlets on his hands were cracked and emitting faint wisps of smoke, but his body was still intact.

His HP had dropped drastically.

[HP: 18%]

"Ugh, that actually hurt," Elang grunted, a faint smirk forming on his face.

The Black Fire Arrow earlier had almost burned his arms to a crisp. If it weren't for the Unbound Sovereign aura reinforcing his body, he would have died in midair.

"What?!" The Contractor's eyes widened in disbelief. "You blocked my Black Flame with your bare hands?!"

"Damn you! You filthy human!" the Contractor roared in a fit of rage. His face flushed red with anger and humiliation because his attack had failed to kill a low-level Player like Elang.

The magic staff in his hand trembled violently. Black mana began pooling at the tip, forming a massive magic circle in midair.

"If one Black Flame isn't enough," he muttered venomously, "I'll incinerate your entire body until nothing is left!"

The magic circle expanded, emitting a crushing pressure that made the very air in the Hunger Forest feel suffocatingly heavy.

The Dragonfly Guide instantly turned pale.

"Wait—that's an area-of-effect spell?! You madman! Are you going to wipe out an entire section of this floor just to kill one kid?!" the Guide protested furiously.

However, the Contractor merely offered a cold, sinister laugh.

"The Translators of the Black Snake Clan will not be humiliated by sponsorless trash!"

WHOOOSHHH!

Dozens of black fire spears began materializing behind him like a torrential rain of death.

Elang narrowed his eyes.

With Architect's Sight, he could read the trajectory of the magic attacks. But there were simply too many. At 18% HP, a single direct hit would be enough to end him.

'I can't block this head-on...' Elang thought rapidly.

The Forest Guardian let out another roar and charged from the front, while the rain of Black Flames was poised to fall from above.

It was a total death trap.

'Am I really going to die here?' Elang wondered internally, enduring the searing pain across his body. It was painfully obvious—he was still a novice player forced to fight a seasoned Contractor.

Right in the middle of that deadly crisis, a blood-gold system window materialized before his eyes.

[Translator 'War Sovereign': Hey, kid. I can help you fight that Contractor. It would be a shame if you died here.]

"Huh... You offering help definitely doesn't come free," Elang grumbled, straining to breathe through the tightness in his chest.

[Translator 'War Sovereign': I'm not asking you to sign a contract with me right now. Think of it as renting my power for now. The only condition is that you must fulfill a single command from this Translator in the future.]

[Y / N]

Elang's eyes widened as he read the message from the War Sovereign Translator.

Seeing the golden window, the Dragonfly Guide instantly panicked.

"Don't accept it!" the Guide shrieked. "The War Sovereign Translator is far more dangerous than the Black Snake Clan!"

BOOOOM!

One of the Black Flame spears struck near Elang, shattering the crystal ground and launching his body several meters back.

[HP: 12%]

"Ughk!" Elang coughed up fresh blood.

His body felt increasingly heavy. His breath came in ragged gasps while the Forest Guardian continued to close in like a living bomb ready to obliterate him.

Atop the monster, the Contractor laughed triumphantly.

"Look at you now!" he mocked. "Trash Players like you only have two choices! Die or become a Translator's dog!"

Those words turned Elang's gaze icy cold.

Dog.

Pawn. Slave.

All his life, people had always tried to control him.

His parents, who endlessly demanded things from him while looking down on him. Redi's gang at school, who constantly treated him like trash.

Elang clenched his fists so hard that his Iron Gauntlets groaned under the pressure.

WHOOOSHHH!

Dozens of black fire spears in the sky began raining down all at once.

Elang's eyes opened wide.

If he refused now, he would truly die.

The Dragonfly Guide flew closer, face ghastly pale. "You foolish kid! The price for a single command from the War Sovereign Translator is astronomical! You could be forced to slaughter thousands of people in the future!"

Elang went silent for a moment.

Sweat mixed with blood dripped from his chin. His mind raced at full speed.

If he died now, everything ended.

If he accepted the help, his future might be grim—or perhaps it wouldn't. Nobody truly knew the hidden motives of these Translators.

[Translator 'War Sovereign': You overthink too much, kid.]

The blood-gold text shifted on its own.

[Translator 'War Sovereign': In this Tower, dead men have no future to regret.]

Thump!

That single sentence hit Elang like a sledgehammer.

Right. If I die here, none of my resolve matters. I haven't crushed my bullies, nor have I reached the top of the Tower. I haven't even proven that I'm not a loser yet.

Elang took a shaky breath.

"Fine!" he muttered softly.

His finger moved slowly.

[Y]

The Dragonfly Guide went deathly pale.

"ELANG, DON'T—!"

Click.

[Temporary Contract Approved.]

[Synchronization with Translator 'War Sovereign' Initiated.]

BOOOOMMMM!!!

A wave of dark red energy exploded from Elang's body like a tempest.

The ground of the Hunger Forest cracked open. Crystal trees shattered into countless fragments.

The dozens of falling Black Flame spears abruptly froze in midair.

The Contractor froze on the spot. "W-What is this?!"

Elang's eyes gradually changed. Where they had once been deep purple, his pupils now burned bright red like fiery embers of war.

His gold-and-black aura merged with the dense, brutal, and bloodthirsty crimson energy.

[Temporary Buff Active!]

[War Sovereign's Blessing]

All Stats increased by 200%

Pain temporarily suppressed

Combat instincts drastically enhanced

Elang's heart pounded violently.

THUMP! THUMP! THUMP!

"This power... feels like I'm floating," Elang murmured, feeling completely weightless as all the pain in his body vanished in an instant.

The Dragonfly Guide backed away several meters, face pale with horror.

"This is insane," it whispered in a trembling voice. "The War Sovereign's buff is fully active..."

In the distance, the hunting Players began to panic.

"Oi, what is that aura?!"

"Why did his magic pressure suddenly shift like a boss monster's?!"

"There's no way a low-level Player has energy this insane!"

Yet Elang barely heard their voices. His mind felt incomparably sharp; the world around him had slowed down.

He could see individual dust particles drifting in the air. He could hear the heavy heartbeat of the Forest Guardian. He could even read the pathways of the Contractor's black mana like fragile, thin threads.

For the first time since entering the Tower, Elang felt as powerful as a High Ranker.

The Forest Guardian roared in fury and charged once more.

ROOOAAARRR!!

The giant beast leaped, raising both of its crystal claws high into the air. If that attack landed, it would pulverize the entire area.

Elang merely stared back at the creature with cold indifference. "Slow."

BOOOOMMM!!

The Guardian's claws slammed into the empty earth, carving a massive crater.

"Die already!" the Contractor shrieked. But his satisfied expression quickly shattered into utter confusion.

"Where did the kid go?!" the Contractor cried out, bewildered and enraged.

Suddenly, Elang appeared right beside the monster's head.

"Looking for me, Mr. Contractor?" Elang taunted, his voice dripping with mockery.

"You?! How is that possible?!" The Contractor panicked, eyes wide.

Empowered by the War Sovereign's Blessing, Elang's Dash felt like pure teleportation.

Clank!

Elang clenched his cracked Iron Gauntlets. A brutal storm of crimson-and-black aura swirled wildly around his fists.
