Kelvin kept the letter in his pocket.

He didn't go to the old building.

For several minutes after making that decision, he remained beside his bedroom window, staring through the window

The distant light was still visible.

One small glow in the middle of the night.

Kelvin slowly closed the curtains.

"No."

He stepped away from the window.

"I'm not doing this."

He pulled the letter from his pocket.

The words stared back at him.

YOU PROMISED YOUR MOTHER YOU WOULDN'T GO.

Kelvin folded it again.

He placed it inside the drawer beside his bed and shut it.

That was it.

Problem solved.

At least, that's what he wanted to believe.

He changed into his night clothes and climbed into bed.

For the first few minutes, nothing happened.

Then he heard it.

"Kelvin..."

His eyes opened.

He stared at the ceiling.

Silence.

He sat up.

"Mom?"

Nothing.

The house was quiet.

Kelvin rubbed his eyes.

Maybe he had imagined it.

He lay back down.

"Kelvin..."

His body went rigid.

This time, the voice was closer.

Not outside the room.

Inside it.

He immediately switched on the bedside lamp.

The light flickered.

Once.

Twice.

Then stabilized.

Kelvin stared at it.

"What do you want?"

No answer.

He looked toward the drawer.

The letter was still inside.

He could feel it.

Almost as if something was pulling at him.

Not physically.

A pressure inside his chest.

Kelvin got out of bed.

He walked toward the drawer.

The moment his fingers touched the handle, the pressure intensified.

His heart starts palpitating.

The room suddenly became hot even though the AC is on.

Kelvin opened the drawer.

The letter was there.

He picked it up.

The pendant beneath his shirt became warm.

Kelvin dropped the letter.

"Stop."

The warmth increased.

He grabbed the pendant through his shirt.

"What do you want from me?"

The walls trembled.

Kelvin stumbled backward.

His desk shook.

Books fell from the shelf.

The lamp flickered violently.

"What the hell?"

He grabbed the edge of the desk.

The floor moved beneath his feet.

Not like an earthquake.

Something was different.

It felt as though the room itself was reacting to him.

Kelvin's breathing became faster.

His chest tightened.

He couldn't get enough air.

"Mom!"

He tried to shout.

His voice barely came out.

The pendant burned against his chest.

Kelvin ripped it from beneath his shirt.

The moment it left his skin—

Everything stopped.

Silence.

Kelvin stared at it.

Then the pendant pulsed.

Once.

A deep vibration moved through the room.

Kelvin's knees weakened.

He dropped to the floor.

His vision blurred.

The walls seemed to stretch.

The ceiling moved farther away.

He could hear something.

A voice.

Not one voice.

Many.

Whispering at once.

He couldn't understand the words.

He pressed his palms against his ears.

"Stop!"

The whispers became louder.

His head throbbed.

Images flashed through his mind.

A massive stone structure.

Dark corridors.

Rows of doors.

Children.

A staircase disappearing into darkness.

Then—

A pair of eyes.

Kelvin gasped.

The image vanished.

He collapsed onto his side.

His body shook uncontrollably.

Outside his room, footsteps suddenly approached.

"Kelvin?"

His mother's voice.

He couldn't answer.

"Kelvin?"

Sarah grabbed the doorknob.

The room shook again.

She froze.

"Kelvin?"

Mark's voice came from behind her.

"What happened?"

"I don't know."

Sarah tried the door.

"Kelvin, open the door."

Inside, Kelvin struggled to move.

The pendant lay several feet away.

It was glowing.

Just enough to cast a faint light across the floor.

The shaking intensified.

The wardrobe rattled.

The window vibrated.

A book fell from the shelf.

Sarah stepped back.

"What was that?"

Mark looked around the hallway.

"Did we just have an earthquake?"

"I don't know."

Sarah tried the door again.

"Kelvin!"

Inside the room, Kelvin finally forced himself onto his hands and knees.

His vision cleared slightly.

The shaking was slowing.

The pendant's glow faded.

The whispers disappeared.

Kelvin stared at it.

Then everything stopped.

Completely.

The room became perfectly still.

Sarah opened the door.

Kelvin was sitting on the floor.

His breathing was heavy.

His hair was damp with sweat.

The room looked normal.

The lamp was steady.

Nothing was moving.

Sarah rushed inside.

"Kelvin!"

She dropped beside him.

"Are you okay?"

Kelvin looked at her.

For a second, he couldn't speak.

Mark stood in the doorway.

"What happened?"

Kelvin looked around.

He saw the fallen books.

The drawer hanging open.

The pendant lying on the floor.

Then he looked back at his mother.

"I..."

He swallowed.

"I don't know."

Sarah's eyes moved around the room.

"Did you fall?"

"I think so."

"Are you hurt?"

"No."

She touched his forehead.

"You're burning up."

"I'm fine."

"You don't look fine."

Kelvin looked at her.

There was something in her expression.

Fear.

Not ordinary parental concern.

Fear.

She glanced toward the pendant.

For the briefest moment, her face changed.

Kelvin noticed.

"What?"

"Nothing."

"You looked at it."

Sarah quickly looked away.

"At what?"

"The pendant."

"I was just wondering what it was doing on the floor."

Mark stepped forward.

"Sarah."

She looked at him.

Neither spoke.

Kelvin's eyes moved between them.

"What aren't you telling me?"

Sarah forced a smile.

"Nothing."

"Mom."

"You're tired."

"I'm not stupid."

Her expression tightened.

"Kelvin, please."

The word stopped him.

Please.

His mother looked genuinely frightened.

Sarah picked up the pendant.

The moment her fingers touched it, she flinched.

Kelvin noticed.

"What happened?"

"Nothing."

She placed it on his bedside table.

"You need to sleep."

Kelvin stared at her.

"Mom..."

"Tomorrow."

She turned toward the door.

"Tomorrow we'll talk."

Then she left.

Mark remained for a moment.

He looked at Kelvin.

Then at the pendant.

Something about his expression made Kelvin uneasy.

"Get some rest," Mark said.

He closed the door.

Kelvin waited until their footsteps disappeared.

Then he looked toward the pendant.

His mother's reaction kept replaying in his mind.

She definitely knew something.

Kelvin slowly stood.

He walked toward the window.

He opened the curtain.

The distant light was gone.

The old building was completely dark.

But something else caught his attention.

A black vehicle was parked across the street.

Kelvin stared.

It hadn't been there earlier.

He couldn't see anyone inside.

Then the vehicle's headlights came on.

Kelvin stepped backward.

The vehicle remained still for several seconds.

Then it drove away.

Kelvin's heart began pounding again.

He looked at the pendant.

Then at the drawer.

Then toward the door his mother had just walked through.

Something was happening.

Something connected his family, the pendant and whatever had been watching him.

And whatever it was...

It was getting closer.

Kelvin returned to his bed.

He didn't sleep.

Not that night.

And just before dawn, while he was still awake, the pendant moved.

By itself.

It slid slowly across the bedside table.

Stopped at the edge.

Then fell.

Kelvin stared at it.

There was something beneath it.

Something he hadn't noticed before.

A tiny piece of paper.

He picked it up.

Only three words were written on it.

WE ARE COMING FOR YOU.

He became Scared.

“What's coming for me and why have I been receiving a lot of letters lately.

He paused.

“I need to speak with my mom”

  • CHAPTER 33:THE WARNING

Three slow knocks echoed from the other side of the locked door. Knock.Knock.Knock. Kelvin and Rylan stared at each other, their bodies going completely rigid. Neither moved. The parchment remained resting between them on the table, its four words still glaringly visible: DON'T TRUST YOUR ROOMMATE. Another knock came. This one was lighter, softer against the thick wood. Rylan swallowed hard, his throat dry. “Did you tell anyone about this?” he whispered. Kelvin shook his head quickly. “No.” “Neither did I,” Rylan murmured, his breathing uneven. They both turned their heads, looking toward the door. Rylan slowly approached it, his steps cautious and quiet, while Kelvin remained near his bed, watching his roommate carefully. “Who is it?” Rylan called out, his voice tense. There was no answer. Rylan frowned and looked back at Kelvin, uncertainty pooling in his eyes. “Maybe it's someone looking for Raze.” Kelvin's expression changed instantly. “Raze isn't her

  • CHAPTER THIRTY-TWO:NEVER TRUST YOUR ROOMMATE

A loud, sharp knock rattled the door, followed by Rylan’s impatient voice.“Kelvin, get up!”Kelvin opened his eyes, staring blankly at the ceiling for a moment before turning toward the door. “I’m awake.”“but you're still on bed!” Rylan shot back, already dressed with his bag slung over one shoulder.Kelvin groaned, swinging his legs over the edge of the bed and rubbing the sleep from his face. “What do we have today?”“Practical Science.”Kelvin sighed, reaching reluctantly for his uniform. A heavy, familiar knot of anxiety tightened in his stomach—practical sessions rarely ended well for him.Rylan offered a sympathetic grin. “Don't look so terrified, Kelvin. You might actually enjoy it for once.”“I’ll believe that when I make it out in one piece,” Kelvin muttered, following him into the hallway. The corridors were busy with the morning rush, a sea of students talking and hurrying toward their respective wings. By the time they reached the science hall, the room was nearly full.

  • CHAPTER THIRTY-ONE: NORMAL MORNING

The next morning, Kelvin woke up to someone roughly shaking his shoulder.“Kelvin, wake up,” Rylan urged, leaning over his bed.Kelvin opened his eyes slowly and blinked at his roommate. “What time is it?”“Six-thirty.”Kelvin groaned, pulling his blanket straight back over his head.Rylan laughed. “You were the one complaining yesterday that I might almost make us late for class today, now look who's still on bed.”Kelvin pushed the blanket down, glaring playfully. “I was tired.”“So am I, but I’m already awake and prepared.”Kelvin sat up and rubbed his eyes. For the first time in weeks, he hadn't spent the night waking up from strange nightmares or hearing muffled whispers through the stone walls. His sleep had been surprisingly peaceful.Rylan grabbed his uniform off the back of the chair. “We have Chemistry first.”Kelvin looked at him in disbelief. “Again?”“Yes, again. Apparently, knowing how to survive a chemical spill is more important than surviving this Tower.”Kelvin laughe

  • CHAPTER THIRTY:HALLUCINATION

The corridor lights detonated in a shower of white-hot sparks, plunging the hallway into pitch blackness.Kelvin froze, his breath hitching in his chest. For several long seconds, the absolute dark pressed against them, heavy and suffocating."Rylan?" Kelvin whispered into the gloom."I'm here," Rylan’s voice answered nervously from a few feet back."Raze?""Right beside you." Kelvin felt a firm hand brace against his shoulder as Raze closed the distance between them. "Stay together. Don't separate."The darkness felt fundamentally different this time. It wasn't simply the absence of light; it was an unnatural, sensory-depriving void. The ambient hum of the Tower’s ventilation, the distant echoes of footsteps, the subtle vibration of the stone—all of it had been snuffed out.Kelvin reached beneath his tunic, his fingers brushing against his chest. The obsidian pendant was scorching hot against his skin, a steady, rhythmic pulse radiating through his ribs.A pale, azure glow bled throu

"You don't know that for certain."Kelvin whipped his head around, his eyes blazing. "She lied to me, Raze! For my entire life!""You don't have the full context," Raze countered smoothly, though his jaw twitched."My whole childhood is a blank slate!" This restricted sector of Antherion Tower felt entirely detached from the grand arches of the upper levels. Here, the stone was ancient and unvarnished, the ambient light flickering weakly from recessed wall sconces. There were no directional signs, no notice boards, no windows—only a row of reinforced iron doors set deep into the granite.Kelvin glanced at one of the heavy latches as they passed. “What do you think is behind these?”Raze didn't turn around. “Things they didn't want on the campus tour.”“Incredibly specific. Thanks.”“I aim to inform.”Rylan suddenly stopped d
