Elijah just let out a small laugh, shaking his head slowly.

"So you wanted to get rid of me so badly that you now carry divorce papers around in your handbag?" Elijah asked his mother-in-law, his voice filled with disbelief. Mrs. Williams didn’t even try to hide it, she held her head up high with pride.

"Yes, I put it in my bag because I knew one day my daughter will ask for divorce. Sign this and go away," Mrs. Williams said as she handed him the divorce papers and a pen. Natasha glanced at her mother in shock, still wondering why she had been carrying the papers. She looked at the documents ,it was true, all the terms of their post-nup agreement were there.

Elijah stared at the divorce papers and simply shook his head. He sat on the couch, picked up the pen, and signed the papers without hesitation.

"Sign it so that I know this is the end of it. You can send it to the courts and get it approved yourself," Elijah said to Natasha, signing the papers as he had asked. Elijah nodded, grabbed his bag, and began walking toward the door.

"Elijah, wait," Natasha said suddenly. He stopped , hoping she might apologize or retract the divorce.

But instead, she walked up to him, opened her purse, and pulled out a bank card.

"I know that I have never given you any money since we got married, so take this money and this card. It has $50,000 in it. You can use this money as you need to get a hotel room for now. This is the last good thing I can do for you," Natasha told him, holding out the card and a $200 note.

Elijah looked at the money, then at her, and his heart ached.

"Do you think I was with you because of money? I was with you when you had nothing. Get that thing away from me!" Elijah said, his voice rising with pain and anger.

"Leave him. If he doesn't want to take the money, give it to me," Mrs. Williams said.

"Fine. If you do not want to take anything, then goodbye," Natasha said and began walking away.

"I promise you that you will regret ever listening to Henry and divorcing me," Elijah said, gritting his teeth. He turned around and stormed out the door, leaving the family behind.

Elijah took a cab to a nearby bus station and waited quietly. Within ten minutes, a black car pulled up in front of him. The driver stepped out of the car and bowed slightly.

"Sir, your ride is here," he said respectfully as he opened the back door.

Elijah entered the car and sat down, the door closing quietly behind him. The driver loaded his luggage into the boot and got behind the wheel.

In the backseat, Elijah pulled out his phone and made a call.

"Good afternoon, sir. What can I do for you?" a voice answered immediately.

"I want you to stop all support that we are giving to Natasha Enterprise and stop working with her effectively immediately," Elijah said calmly but firmly.

"Yes, sir. I will do it immediately," the person confirmed before ending the call.

Elijah leaned back and stared out of the window, he clenched his fists in anger.

"Since you believed Henry and said he was the one helping you, and decided to divorce me, let me see how far you go without my help," he muttered through clenched teeth.

He would make sure Natasha paid for playing with his feelings.

Meanwhile, at Natasha's mansion, four SUV cars pulled into her driveway. Natasha came out quickly, as she went to the front door to welcome her esteemed visitors.

Olivia Blake and her father, Mr. Blake, stepped out of the car along with four bodyguards. Natasha smiled warmly and approached them.

"Mr. Blake, Miss Olivia, it is a pleasure to have you in my house. Please come inside," Natasha said politely.

She led them into the living room and tried to make small talk, but Mr. Blake quickly cut her off.

"Mrs. Natasha, where is your husband Elijah Smith? Is he not at home?" he asked with a firm tone.

"My husband and I signed the divorce papers today, so he's not here. Is there anything he can do for you?" she asked carefully.

"If he's not here, then there's nothing we can discuss with you. We will see another time," Mr. Blake said, rising from his seat with Olivia by his side.

Natasha's brows furrowed in confusion. Why would they want Elijah?

"Why are you looking for Elijah?" she inquired, walking after them.

"Elijah saved my daughter from getting kidnapped today. And before I could get there to thank him, he had already disappeared. That was why I decided to come here immediately to see if I could meet him, but I guess he's not here. Have a nice day," Mr. Blake informed her.

Natasha stood frozen. She had no idea Elijah did anything like that today. If she had, she never would’ve gone through with the divorce.

This could’ve been her opportunity.

"Mr. Blake, can we discuss some business? You remember that I came to your company to apply for a partnership and you refused. Is there any way we can talk about this?" Natasha asked, hopeful.

"There is no way we can talk about it. If there's anyone I'm going to get into a partnership with, it is Elijah. And from what I’ve heard now, you said both signed divorce papers today. So, you're not part of his family anymore, and I cannot work with you," he said bluntly and walked away.

Despite Natasha’s protests, they got into their cars and drove off.

Natasha was surprised. Of all days, this had to happen today the day she asked Elijah for a divorce. If she had known that he saved Olivia, daughter of the very man she'd been trying to work with for years, she would have held onto him.

She quickly pulled out her phone and began calling Elijah.

She was shocked when he declined the call immediately. It was the first time he had ever done that.

She called again. This time, the number was unavailable.

"Did he just block my number?" Natasha asked aloud in disbelief. Desperate, she turned to her maid.

"Give me your phone!" she demanded, and the maid handed it over without question.

Using the maid's number, Natasha dialed Elijah again. This time, he answered and when he heard her voice he ended the call.

She quickly sent a message: “I don’t want to go ahead with the divorce anymore. Please come back home.”

Within seconds, she got a reply:

“I am going to block you on every one of my social media accounts and all your phone numbers. Don’t attempt to reach me again. Send those divorce papers to the court. Let’s get divorced as you wanted. I want nothing to do with you or your family again.”

Natasha read the message over and over again, struggling to comprehend how Elijah could just walk away from everything they had built.

Frustrated, she tried to send another message, but just as he had said, the number was now blocked. She tried to search for him on social media, all accounts were private, and she was blocked.

"Why is he going this far? Useless man!" she hissed in anger.

She knew Elijah well. If he had truly made up his mind to divorce her, then this was really the end.

Finally, she called her lawyer.

“Submit the divorce papers to the court,” she instructed coldly.

It was for the best.
