As Adrian stormed out, Mr. Felix turned to me, his facail expression said it all; regret etched across his face.
“Ethan, please, I—I'm so sorry for everything that’s happened. If only I knew who you truly were. I—I....," I waved him off, dismissing his words. “Save it, Mr. Felix. It doesn’t change anything now. Just sign the papers so we can move on.” I said, my voice firm. After he was done signing the documents, Marcus took them and carefully placed them in his suitcase. Marcus and I turned to leave, when I heard Mr. Felix call out to me, “Ethan, please wait!” We both stopped, frowning back at him. “But how?” He started. “How are you the son of Mr. Carnegie, the most powerful and feared man in the state, and you chose to be poor for all those years? Why?” I paused, a smirk escaping my lips. “Well let’s say the universe chose to play it that way, just so people like you would be exposed.” I said, nodding my head and with that, I walked out the door, Marcus following close behind. --- As we drove, there was silence in the car. And I sensed it was due to what had happened earlier. “Er’ h’r’m” Marcus cleared his throat, finally breaking the silence. “So, about the young man earlier?” “Adrian,” I said, brow raised, he nodded. “Yes, Adrian… Why was he reacting like that?” I sighed, looking out the window as I watched us pass other cars. It’s hasn’t been long since I moved on from that life. The life of constantly being belittled and insulted. Talking about Adrian now was going to trigger me. I’m not so used to this rich lifestyle. But in order for me to be able to adjust. Bringing up the past was something I should advoid doing. “He’s just--someone from my past,” I replied shortly. “He isn’t worth speaking about.” Marcus smiled and nodded, then pressed down on the accelerator, the car picking up speed as we zoomed away. We pulled up in another tall building, it was a company but ten times bigger than that of Mr Felix. I looked up, confused. Marcus didn’t tell me about the second company we were going to purchase. “Wow, this is a huge company, who owns it,” I asked, squinting as I looked up, using my hand to shield my eyes from the sun, it was impossible to even see the top. “Well, this is yours, your father willed it to you, buying it in your name. It isn’t running yet because you would need to run it. But I brought you here just to surprise you, would you like to check it out?” Marcus asked. I smiled, staring at the company in awe. I could barely even speak. I mean—what would I even say? This was proof that believing in yourself would get you everything you ever wished for. You just have to keep believing that you’re going to be rich and wealthy as fuck! And that’s it. “So, what are you going to do with it?” Marcus asked, I turned to him. I have always dreamed of owning a tech company. A dream I was always being laughed at, just because it felt so impossible. I mean, A man like me couldn’t even provide a roof over my head one month ago, but now, right in front of me was my own company. It’s felt so surreal. Someone fucking pinch me. “How about you show me around , and then we can talk more about it,” I said. “Okay, you’re the Boss now,” Marcus teased, gesturing to the entrance door, I giggled shaking my head as we both walked in. --- MEANWHILE: ADRIAN’S POV “Shit! Shit! Shit! Shit!” I yelled, banging my hand on the steering wheel. Feeling my hand ache from the forceful hitting. But that didn’t matter to me, All I wanted was answers. Because nothing made sense to me. No matter how I tried to prove it, it just felt like I was making things up in my head. Or maybe I had taken too much cocaine this morning. I am certain this whole thing is just a nightmare. Right? Goddammit! ——— After driving for an hour. I finally pulled up in front of Nora’s house. The gate guard rushed to open it as they sighted me. but I was so impatient that I couldn’t wait. I stepped out of the car, handing one of the guards my keys. “Park the car properly, and if I see a scratch on it, Even if it’s a tiny scratch, you’re all dead,” I said. I could see fear in their eyes, and it made me feel a twisted sense of satisfaction. But that wasn’t enough to shake off the rage burning inside me. I walked straight inside the house. On the couch Nora and her mother sat across each other, giggling and laughing while their gazes were fixed on the television. Perfect. As I approached, their eyes drifted to me, and I could see their smiles slowly fade away. “Adrian, why do you look pissed? Did something happen? And why aren’t you at work?” Nora’s mother questioned, concern etched on her face as she spoke. Nora nodded in agreement. I took a seat but quickly felt the need to get up again, running my hand through my hair, as I restlessly paced around the living room. “Speak to us and stop making us scared!” Nora yelled, her frustration pushing me to finally speak. “Ethan,” I started, my voice low and I could barely speak. It felt like a lie, like I was going crazy. “What about him?” Nora’s mother asked, her brows furrowed. “H—He just bought my father’s b—biggest company…” I said as I watched their face……

All mum…
Luckily, just as I was dealing with the arrogant receptionist, my attention was drawn to a figure entering the mall. This man exuded power; everyone turned to look at him, some trying to maintain their composure, just like the receptionist, whose pride faltered for a moment.A smile crept across my face as an idea clicked in my mind. I had no time to waste, but I refused to let that moron get away with his mockery.Just as I was about to approach the powerful newcomer, I noticed a group of men in black suits rushing through the entrance. There were six of them, and as their eyes locked onto me, a chill ran down my spine—I knew they were there to kill me.I turned to run, but the unmistakable sound of gunfire echoed through the mall as they fired at me.“Bang! Bang!”I kept running without looking back, needing to find a safe place as people screamed and scattered in every direction, shopping bags flying as panic set in. I whipped out my gun, dashing toward a nearby store. Inside, I du
Again.
As I fought with the decision, the bike swerved slightly, reminding me of the risks and dangers around me.My heart raced not just from fear but from the uncertainty of who I could trust.“What if this is a trap?” I thought, recalling every moment of deceit I’d encountered with Marcus. Why did Marcus want me dead? Was he the one who had killed my father? While still contemplating, my phone began to buzz again, consistently this time.I answered, placing the phone to my ear when I heard Josh call to me. “Ethan,” he said, and I fell silent, unable to speak because there was something unfamiliar about Josh's voice—he sounded a bit desperate, or at least that’s what I thought.I took a deep breath before answering him, keeping my eyes on the road.“Josh!” I said, trying to mask the panic in my voice.“Where are you?!” he demanded, urgency echoing louder through the speaker.“I’m on the highway,” I replied. “I heard what happened. Are you okay? Are you hurt?” He asked, and I felt a sudden
Bang!!!
“Over there! It’s him!” one of them yelled, and I felt my heart drop as they charged toward me.I needed to hide—there was no way I could take on six armed men.But just before I could retreat, I spotted a metal pipe on the ground. It wouldn’t do much against guns, but I had to try.I crouched behind the wall, clutching the pipe tightly, my breath quickening as I listened to the approaching footsteps.Suddenly, one of the men lunged forward, gun raised and aimed directly at me. In a split second, I wiped the gun aside with the pipe, the metal clanging against the weapon. Before he could react, I smashed the pipe into his stomach, knocking the wind out of him.As he stumbled back, I instinctively used his body as a shield, feeling the bullets whizz past me. I began to panic again, but I kept my focus. With a quick glance, I saw the fallen gun on the ground. I bent low, snatching it up just as the remaining men regrouped and aimed their weapons in my direction.I squeezed the trigger, f
Danger!
“How much is it?”“Let’s just say your father was a quadrillionaire, which means—” he said, brow raised. “Are you for real? Am I a quadrillionaire?” I asked as he nodded. “Yes, Ethan, you are. But I trust that you will be able to multiply that over the years, with your new company and others to come. I believe you will make triple that in the next few months,” Marcus said, picking up his phone because it had just buzzed with a text.“Hold on, I have to make a quick call,” he said, getting to his feet to leave. In the few times I had been with Marcus, he wouldn’t step out to make a phone call if he wasn’t hiding something from me.Thankfully, I had all I needed right now, and all I had to do was find my way forward, away from this mess.I stood up to leave as well, but when I got to the door, I paused.I could hear Marcus speaking to someone on the phone again; this time his tone was lower because he obviously didn’t want me to hear him.I leaned in closer, pressing my ear to the doo

No one knows the password except me,” he said.“Well, let’s just say I have my ways. Now let’s talk business,” I said, immediately diverting the topic. “About my father’s company, I’m here for the documents,” I said, and I watched a kind of emotion cross his face—not the kind I expected; he was completely pleased by my words.“Sure, I know you’re still mad at me for pulling that stunt on you, but I had to get you in a way you weren’t expecting,” he said, searching for the documents on his desk while I ignored him.All I wanted was to get the hell out of there.“Here,” he said, handing me a file—one that resembled the one he carried the first time I encountered him. It was the same.“Here are all the documents you need
An Urgent Message.
“Uh, about that, I, um,” I stuttered, unable to find the right words when I heard a knock on the door.“Who is it?” Marcus asked. “It’s me, sir. I have an urgent message for you,” came an unfamiliar voice, that of a lady.Marcus pressed a button on the controller to let her in.Once the door opened, my eyes caught sight of a brown-haired, middle-aged lady. She glanced up at me, her eyes flickering in shock, but she immediately masked it with a smile.“Good day, sir,” she greeted, and I nodded, wondering if she knew about Marcus’s plan or if there was something else in the way she looked at me.“Sir, we have news on the Orions. They were spotted boarding their private jets,” the lady said, handing Marcus some pictures while she handed me some as well.I took them from her, even though my initial plan was to get out of there. I needed to play things safe for my own life.I glanced at the pictures. It showed a man wearing sunglasses, with black hair and a black coat, alongside a woman
