Hearing this, Dexter smiled inwardly. Truly, people like her deserve this kind of punishment!

“I beg you, sir… don't do this… I'm sorry, Mr. Wilson, I didn't mean to… uh… please don't fire me, I'm begging you… have mercy on me..” She cried out, while everyone who supported her earlier went mute.

They weren't sure, but they could tell that Mr. Wilson as they call him is one of those wealthy tycoons that dress casually in order to keep attentions off their backs.

Sadly, all her cries fell on deaf ears as the security dragged her out like a ragdoll while she cried, still pleading like it will change the manager's mind.

The card was given back to Dexter then he walked out of the bank, not as Dexter the poor loser, but as Dexter the multimillionaire.

Vector dropped his cup on the table as he let out his dissatisfaction and pain to Mr. Fred and the rest of his family members.

“....I wasn't even allowed in!” He explained painfully.

“We need a second option!” Mr. Fred uttered, scanning the rest of his grandchildren. If Vector was banned from Wilson Group, then certainly, someone else should go.

They can't afford to let this stop them.

“I'm sure someone is pulling strings behind the scenes.” Vector hissed, glaring harshly at Ashanti like she was the one behind his downfall.

“Ashanti can go.” Dexter chimed in immediately, then all eyes turned to her.

“Don't, Dexter…” She shook her head.

“Why not? Didn't you say you have a friend in Wilson Group that can help?” Mr. Fred finally spoke to her for the first time since he caught her messing around with Dexter.

“Paxton Cooper?” Sara asked with a smirk.

“Y- yea.” Ashanti hesitated.

“Okay, this is getting interesting.” Sara laughed.

“It doesn't matter. Grandpa can pick someone else.” Ashanti lowered her voice.

“Why would I give it to someone else when you know someone on the inside? This is your chance to redeem yourself, young woman… no excuses. Head to their office first thing tomorrow morning… don't mess this up.” The old man said sternly, but deep down, everyone knows how good this contract will favour their family. “Book an appointment, go on… do it fast!” He urged her then she retrieved her phone to make a call.

“Good evening, I'm Ashanti Smith, i.. was.. thinking…” Ashanti was nervous as she was under the watchful gaze of everyone on the table. And she almost forgot what to say or how to book an appointment. “... I'll be presenting Smith corporate on tomorrow's batch of representatives.”

“Oh, I'm sorry ma'am, but that will be for the president to decide. He's the one in charge.” The lady on the other end explained.

“I'll speak to my boss and get back to you soon.” She said then the call ended.

“And? Did you get it? I bet you were banned too.” Sara rolled her eyes but Ashanti explained everything to them.

Ringing!

Just then, Dexter's phone started ringing.

He knew it was from the company, so he quickly answered it. “Boss, Ms. Ashanti called. Should I go ahead and approve her appointment for tomorrow?”

Dexter cleared his throat, “Oh, that's right.. yes.. yes…I'll give you details tomorrow.” Then he quickly ended the call.

He noticed their gaze on him and even though they didn't ask, he said, “Oh, the marketing team never gets some rest.”

Ringing!

Ashanti's phone rang and after a brief talk, she announced that her appointment had been approved.

Beatrice rejoiced for her daughter. And even the old man was glad.

“The appointment was only approved, not the contract! What's the fuss about?” Vector sneered.

Before Ashanti could protest, Mr. Fred dismissed the meeting and one by one, they all went to their bedrooms.

Sara and Vector scoffed. “I feel sorry for you.. you think if I'm banned, you will be given the contract?” He laughed.

“Shameless bitch! You couldn't reject it. I should be going and not you.” Sara spat.

“Let's go.” Dexter pulled his wife close, shielding her from the hatred her cousins had towards her.

“Playing the doting husband now?” Sara and Vector laughed out loud but Dexter and Ashanti ignored them and walked into their room.

Ashanti immediately opened her laptop, anxiously trying to prepare for her presentation tomorrow.

“Relax.. I'm sure you'll come back with that contract.” Dexter said, trying to comfort her.

“You don't understand… This is a last minute thing. I even deleted the draft I made! I'll have to write them all back… I need to make a good impression on Wilson Group… they are the biggest company to ever grace the earth… for me to bag a contract with them, I have to be the best.” She said while typing on her laptop and bringing some files out of her drawer.

Dexter sighed, sitting on the bed and watching her. She seemed so determined. She was just nothing like the rest of her family.

“I'm sure you'll get it.. don't worry too much.”

At 1am, Ashanti joined Dexter on the bed, and he wrapped his hands around her. “I told you not to wait for me.”

“The wait was worth it. Now I can sleep.” He told her and he had to admit, he was impressed. She didn't stop until she was sure she had enough files ready for tomorrow. “Tell you what… if you get the contract… I'll take you to Polaris so we can celebrate.”

Ashanti turned to look Dexter in the eye. She couldn't tell if she hates him for ruining her life anymore. She had come to realise he cared for her these past few days of their marriage. Plus, he understands that she didn't wanna be touched sexually even if they signed a marriage license and were practically husband and wife.

Polaris was the most Luxurious restaurant in Chicago. It is an exclusive, ultra-luxurious restaurant nestled in a private area of the city and reserved for the elite. Its marble floors, crystal chandeliers, and handcrafted gold-leaf detailing gave it a luxurious look. Each table is set in its own Polaris-curtained alcove for maximum privacy. The menu is a rotating selection of rare, globally sourced delicacies—think bluefin tuna flown in from Japan, truffle-infused wagyu, and vintage wines from private estates. Entry is by membership only, and reservations can take months—unless you’re on the billionaire list! Not even an average man could afford such a place. Though people at work were rich, none of them were rich enough to afford such an expensive restaurant. First global bank employs the rich kids. Their roles were either manager, consultant, head of the team, who have little to no work to engage in… so Lucas, Clara, Madi, Sarah and 98% of them were just trying to get experience

“Polaris is not for people like us.” She uttered. She could afford it, but she didn't wanna make him feel too poor. Even if he were to work for a year, he wouldn't be able to afford a fancy restaurant like Polaris. The luxurious restaurant was for the high and mighty only. “Just promise you'll come with me. I promise it's my treat.” He replied and they both went to bed. In the morning, Dexter and Ashanti parted ways. She went for her presentation and he went to his work. During lunch, Clara, Dexter's ex-girlfriend spotted him walking into the cafeteria exclusive to bank workers. Then she quickly walked up to him. Without hesitating, she stretched and hand forward saying, “Here– you can have your phone back.” Dexter looked down at the phone and asked why she was returning it. He had bought this as a gift for her birthday months ago. “It's an outdated android device.” She muttered, “...and the one Lucas bought for me is the latest iPhone. Since we are no longer dating, you can

The chairman got involved, and as Dexter tried to defend himself, Sarah had enough proof, even when he suggested they checked the CCTV camera. The way he scanned the purse for minutes, convinced them that he had the intention of stealing. Dexter shook his head. He knew he should have never thought of Clara when he saw that purse. These rich people always find a way to treat him less of a person. Lucky for him, he was too useful at times like this to be fired. His knowledge came in handy on what most of them couldn't handle, so he was pardoned by the chairman. “You might have been lucky this time, I'm not sure about next time!” Sarah spat and stormed off. But Dexter has had enough! When he was done with work, he grabbed his jacket and went straight to Funds Banks. “Good day, ma'am, I'd love to speak with the manager. I don't have a bank card, so I wanna get one.” He uttered politely, but the calm smile on the lady's face was replaced with a frown as she scanned Dexter's old cloth

Nobody regarded him, he was dragged like a ragdoll and thrown out the gate like a mad man. Dexter's will to live came crumbling down the ground. All his life he had been used, humiliated, insulted, and defrauded. Perhaps if he dies, it will all come to an end. Meanwhile, Mr. Bill stormed into the ward and Vivian immediately lowered her head, “Sir… you should be resting.” “Where is the young man who donated his blood for me?!” Mr. Bill demanded immediately, his tone firm. “Uh…” Vivian swallowed hard, sensing the old man must have heard of her scheme. “Please forgive me, sir… I'll refund it all to him if you want… I haven't touched it yet.” She fell to her knees in tears. She knew how powerful the Wilson family is, and one would have a death wish lying and going against them. “What are you talking about? Where is my grandson!” Bill barked, his aura dark. Dexter, who was about to take a cab to the biggest ocean in Greenville was stopped by several bodyguards and security officer
