Ragnar’s eyes narrowed, suspicion darkening his gaze. Women making requests always set off alarm bells in his mind.

For someone as powerful as the one before him, it was almost certain she wouldn’t ask for material items. It would be something that would cost him a sizable sacrifice.

“What do you need?”

She smiled like a tiger, eyes glinting with amusement. “I haven’t decided yet. You’ll owe me a favor. And in the future, whenever I cash it in, you can’t refuse.”

Ragnar inhaled deeply and nod

Time 3. a.m.Light blue arcane hexagrams glowed inside the circle in which Ragnar sat cross legged, eyes closed, fore finger and middle finger held together, the rest fisted and facing the sky. The circle attracted light strings of soul power being tapped from the surrounding, all siphoning into Ragnar's body. The circle was an attracting formation, drawing in energy for Ragnar. At the same time it was a soul strengthening technique, forging and empowering the user. On Ragnar's forehead, a faint blue trident could be seen glowing on it. The airflow and energy cycle in the bamboo grove and the surrounding forest slightly changed, all flowing towards Ragnar, forming an invisible vortex with him at the center. Soon, the trident mark appeared at the back of his palm, energy forming little needles which pierced into him, pumping somewhere around his brain, trying to form the soul sea. He was unlocking a new phase of power which even some of the so-c

Emerald lake lodgeRagnar’s eyes were fixed on the computer screen. He nodded, satisfied. Most of the stocks he bought were still rising, while some have reached their peak. Ragnar quickly sold off the ones that have reached their peak. “Five billion vaelons in liquid funds, more coming.” He rubbed his jaw, staring intently at the screen which displayed various industry options he could buy out and start his empire. His gaze zeroed in on agriculture, and he leaned closer. “Within three to five years, the world will encounter food and spirit energy scarcity. I can't let the hunger from the last time which consumed the lower tier happen again. Although it ushered in a new wave of revolution and increased the urgency to explore outer galaxies and find newer resource planets, I shouldn't let things get that bad.”Ragnar wasn't playing hero by choosing to start with agriculture. He had his own selfish motives. Once food became scarce, demand will skyrocket. If he could maintain monopoly

The general turned to look at Ragnar, a complicated look on his face. Perhaps, it was approval. One of the attendants brought up the herb to Ragnar through a side lift, carefully stored in transparent jade container with spells engraved on it to preserve its entire property and ensure it remains in top condition till it's time for the buyer to use it. Ragnar activated his golden eyes technique, giving the herb a quick scan. Satisfied it was the real deal, he exhaled. His brows furrowed, a scoff playing around his lips. The herb was only eight thousand years old, but the auctioneer hyped it to ten thousand years old. They really knew how to profit off of other people’s ignorance. Calling them out wasn't worth it. He was currently in disguise, drama was the last thing he needed. He fished out the card he got from his sister, ready to pay. “Let me get that.” The general’s voice interrupted them, and Ragnar turned to see him equally extending a card to the sales attendant. Ragnar qui

How then could my sacrifice be worth it?”Ragnar nearly bit back a retort, but he pressed his lips together tightly, holding it in while his mind tore into her. ‘Entitled spoiled brat. I’m already the one buying it and will deliver it free of charge. What sacrifice have you made?’Vireille signaled

The voice was firm, and achingly familiar. Ragnar was sure he’d heard it before. But this wasn’t the time to dwell on insignificant things.“Five hundred and fifty million!” Ragnar’s voice followed, loud, and edged with anger, the words forced through gritted teeth. The other guests paused. Every pair of eyes turned toward the tenth floor. No one bothered to bid once two titans had entered the fight. As for the auctioneer, he was grinning from ear to ear. Competition was beautiful. It raked in the cash. The general turned to Ragnar, a flicker of surprise in his eyes at the young man’s stubborn determination.“Eight hundred million.” The feminine voice called out again, clear and unhurried. “Friend in booth A, you should give up now. I’m determined to take this home.”“It’s her.” The recognition finally clicked into place. Ragnar dropped his paddle and moved to the banister separating booth Ten A from Ten B in three strides. He yanked the curtain aside, chest heaving.“Vireille.” Ragna

  • Ch. 046 A formidable competition

“General, you’re here.” A man dressed in an expensive lotus-silk fusion-style suit rushed forward, the spirit gems on his clothes shining brighter than the stars, casting prismatic light across the marble floor. On his face was a huge sycophantic smile, hurrying to welcome the general who had just stepped out. Eager, obsequious, desperate. Although dressed in casual clothes, everyone still recognized the general and acknowledged him with bowed heads and hushed reverence. Power couldn’t be hidden. It hung in the air like thunder before a storm. The general didn’t smile back, his expression carved from stone, but the man didn’t seem offended. He appeared to be a higher-ranking member of the Soul Ascension Court, used to cold shoulders, and the rigours of socializing with higher powers. Ragnar scoffed internally as he watched. Even the so-called number one in Eadom did have someone who could make their tails wag like an over-eager dog, tailing power with their spine bent. “It’s t
