Greyson stopped right in front of the car parked on the bottom floor of his girlfriend Evelyn's apartment. He looked straight through the dark windshield and saw faintly two people clinging to each other like an octopus. There were sounds of sighs and moans that slipped out through the car door that was not completely closed.
"Evelyn?" Greyson called out in a strangled voice. Almost trembling. He didn't expect his guess to be right.
The ambiguous voices in the car stopped. There was a slight groan. Then the lights were turned on.
The man was leaning back in a chair with a woman sitting astride him. Both of them were almost naked. The woman whose back was to Greyson turned away.
It was Evelyn.
Greyson felt his world collapse instantly.
"W-what are you guys doing? Evelyn, this is-" Greyson could barely get the words out. How could it be his Evelyn?
There was an annoyed squeal from the girl's mouth. She casually got off his lap while fixing her messy clothes. Earlier, she had still kissed him on the lips.
Evelyn got out of the car followed by the big tall man. There was no regret on her beautiful face.
"What did we do? Are your eyes blind? You can see for yourself. Or are you too stupid to understand?" Evelyn said curtly as she leaned against the car next to her. Her hands were crossed and her chin was raised.
Greyson gulped. Of course he wasn't stupid. They were making love. Something Greyson considered taboo to do only because Evelyn always refused to be touched. After dating for a year, they had never even kissed.
And this guy, isn't he the famous Oliver Brooks? He's Greyson's schoolmate who used to bully him. Although not at the top, the Brooks family is not easy to deal with. Relying on power and money, Oliver is rampant in causing chaos everywhere.
"Hello, old friend. You don't seem to be making any progress." Oliver greeted with a grin. He hugged Evelyn with his large arms. He had a condescending look in his eyes.
"Oliver, you haven't changed. Still causing trouble." Greyson clenched his hands together in anger. After months of struggle, he was finally able to get Evelyn. But today Oliver had easily taken away his girlfriend.
"Greyson, don't overdo it. Oliver has nothing to do with us. I'm the one who's fed up with you. You're lucky enough to be my boyfriend. Look at you, you're not making any progress at all. I want us to break up now." Evelyn's blue eyes clearly radiated mockery and disgust at the man in front of her.
"No way! You've got to be kidding." Greyson shook his head in disbelief. Where had his gentle and loving girl gone? Evelyn had even promised to be loyal and would always accept Greyson as he was.
"Do I look like I'm joking?" Evelyn raised her beautiful eyebrows. She turned her face to the handsome man next to her, stood on tiptoe and kissed him for the second time in front of Greyson.
"Evelyn. I-I came to celebrate your birthday. You know, I bought you the jewelry you've wanted for so long." Trembling, Greyson reached into his coat pocket and pulled out a small dark box.
He opened it and showed Evelyn the contents. "Here, take it! I-come back with me. Pretend this never happened."
Greyson was very fond of Evelyn. He had been in love with her since he was in school and secretly watched her from a distance. He wouldn't be willing for everything, after his long struggle, to end just like that.
Evelyn's beautiful eyebrows frowned slightly at the object in Greyson's hand. She had wanted that earring so badly.
The girl laughed suddenly, leaving Greyson confused.
"Evelyn, isn't what I said true? You said you liked it a lot. So, I bought it with all my savings." Greyson's voice was filled with hope.
"You said all your savings?" Evelyn's question sounded like a taunt.
Greyson didn't think about it. He just nodded quickly, hoping Evelyn was impressed.
The girl stepped forward, her hand stretched forward to grab the jewelry box from Greyson's hand. But before she could actually grasp it, it suddenly fell.
"Oops! Sorry. I didn't mean to." Evelyn did not even glance down.
Greyson reflexively bent down to retrieve the dropped earring. Before his hand could reach it, a woman's shoe stepped on it. The man's movement stopped instantly. Jewelry worth his entire savings cracked under Evelyn's feet.
He looked up at the beautiful figure standing proudly in front of him.
"Greyson, look at the earrings in my ears. Take a good look. Do you know how much they cost? Two thousand dollars. Oliver gave it to me." Evelyn smoothed the strands of hair that covered the side of her face. A pair of diamond earrings shone in the light of the parking lot lamp.
Greyson fell silent, slowly rising from his position. Money matters, there was nothing he could say if he had to compete with Oliver.
"What's wrong with your voice? Suddenly mute?" Evelyn felt satisfied that she had managed to silence her former lover's naivety.
"Honey, this fool probably never knew what it was like to hold a thousand dollar bill. He thinks a few hundred dollars will make you happy." Oliver laughed mockingly.
"Well, I've had it with him too. I thought the rumors were true. It turns out that his Hayes surname means nothing. His ancestors had hallucinated the glory of the great Hayes family." Evelyn regretted her stupidity a year ago.
Some people joked about Greyson's last name being similar to the name of the most famous family in the country. He was getting too serious about it.
Greyson's appearance may seem ordinary. But imagining him in an expensive suit, Evelyn believes that it's not impossible.
She had her own hunches and chose to gamble with her fate. It would be great to climb to this pinnacle of power and fame.
Unfortunately, her hunch was wrong. After almost a year together, she didn't find the slightest clue to the direction of her treasure. She felt she had wasted a lot of time with Greyson.
"Evelyn, you-how can you say that?" Greyson couldn't believe what he was hearing. He tried to approach Evelyn by stepping forward. But Oliver immediately blocked his steps.
"Isn't it obvious? You are no longer lovers. Evelyn is mine. Stop bothering her." Oliver spoke while pushing Greyson's body.
Greyson's temper, which rarely flared up, now caught fire suddenly. He rushed forward while throwing a fist at Oliver's face.
Thump! His hands were caught and twisted. Then his body was pushed again. This time harder than before.
Greyson slammed into the parking lot floor. Before he could groan, Oliver immediately kicked him repeatedly. It didn't take long for Greyson to feel the darkness that enveloped him. He passed out.

Greyson woke up when the sky had turned into night and found himself curled up on the side of a deserted road. The pain all over his body immediately attacked him along with the memories of this afternoon.
He forced herself to get up. Just then, his cell phone suddenly rang.
"Greyson! Where are you? I've called a dozen times, but you only picked up on the twentieth call." As soon as he pressed the receive call icon, a voice resembling the roar of a tigress instantly made Greyson move the phone away from his ear. It was his first sister, Silvia, the CEO of Hayes Global.
"I'm busy-" Greyson tried to make an excuse.
"I don't need your excuses. Go to the company tomorrow. You promised to help me work. I had Daniel organize everything for you. Don't try to avoid me. Otherwise..."
Greyson switched off the line because he already knew what Silvia was going to say.
"Otherwise, I'll have Ivy drag you to the training on the island." Greyson imitated Silvia's voice with a mocking and annoyed expression.
After the surprise of the cheap lover who betrayed him, what surprises await Greyson, who is now such a loser?

Chapter 56. No Connection
“If you have a grudge against Greyson, deal with him. Why drag me into this?” Naomi challenged, her fingers tightening around the small hidden knife. The masked man tilted his head. “Because you, Naomi, are the perfect bait.”He began circling the chair she was tied to, his steps slow and deliberate. “The entire Hayes family will come running for you—especially Greyson, who sees himself as your protector.”The light filtering through the heavy curtains barely illuminated the room. The old wooden floor creaked beneath his steps. Naomi watched his every move, trying to figure out who he was.“You don’t know him that well,” she said, trying to draw out more information. “Greyson is always calculated. He wouldn’t rush into a place like this.”“Oh, he’ll come,” the man said confidently. “I know how his mind works. He always puts himself on the line for people he believes are worth it.”He pointed toward the door. “Even now, I bet he’s searching for clues at your parents’ house.”Naomi’s ey
Chapter 55. The Man in the Golden Mask
Naomi hid a small knife that she had intended to use to cut her restraints. It was a folding knife, less than four inches long, barely noticeable when held in her palm. After hours in captivity, she had devised several strategies. This tiny knife was her last card, carefully concealed within the folds of her clothing.Outside, a few people were talking. Their voices were deliberately lowered, making it impossible to make out their conversation. Then came the sound of a lock being undone, followed by the creak of a turning doorknob. The door pushed open from the outside. Three people stepped into the dimly lit room where Naomi was held. The room itself was shrouded in mystery. The stone walls were old, with peeling paint. A small window was covered by heavy drapes, blocking out all light. The air smelled of dampness and dust, as if the place had been abandoned for years.Naomi’s sharp gaze landed on the man standing directly before her. He wore a dark coat, and his long blonde hair cas

Could you let me in?"He knocked on the door repeatedly. No response. No movement either.Greyson repeated his actions once more."Ma’am, if there’s a problem, you can talk to me. We can help each other."This time, the door creaked open slightly, revealing the weary and anxious face of the middle-aged woman. Her eyes scrutinized Greyson from head to toe, as if trying to read his thoughts. Traces of dried tears were still visible on her wrinkled cheeks."Come in," Mrs. Reed finally said, her voice hoarse. The simple living room was filled with an air of unease. Family photos adorned the walls, showcasing moments of happiness from the Reed family’s past. A few houseplants near the window looked wilted, as if mirroring the distress of the home’s occupants. Mrs. Reed sat in a chair facing Gr

You finally called me," Ivy sounded exhausted."What happened to Naomi?" Greyson asked immediately, regretting that he had ignored all their calls.A heavy sigh came from the other end. "Naomi went to her parents’ house as planned, but after that..." Ivy paused. "She never came back, Grey. No calls, no messages, and her phone has been off.""What have you found out so far?" he asked in a calm voice."My people have been investigating," Ivy replied. "Naomi’s parents are clean. They’re just as confused as we are.""Any other leads?" Greyson asked again, walking toward the window. He gazed at the cityscape below."We’re looking into the man her parents introduced her to," Ivy continued, her tone laced with displeasure. Chapter 52. The Women Who Were Too Busy
"His name is Matt Vegan," Jacob announced enthusiastically to everyone. "You must have heard of him. He's a famous actor."A brief silence followed. The faces on the phone screen exchanged confused looks."Never heard of him," Silvia was the first to reply, followed by nods from Ivy and Samantha.Jacob groaned loudly, furrowing his brows in disappointment. Matt was incredibly famous. Half the women in the country adored him. He stared at the screen in disbelief. But these women—either too busy or simply uninterested in entertainment news—claimed not to know him."Sorry, his name has never appeared in any financial reports I read," Silvia replied dryly."I don't like reading gossip magazines," Ivy added, crossing her arms defensively. "Besides, I have more important things to do than watch people act.""Same here. I have a lot of patients to take care of," Samantha chimed in."So, how do you know this Matt guy?" Ivy asked, her tone sharp and investigative. Her eyes narrowed suspiciousl
