Serena laughed. “Yeah, right.”

“There you go again, lying.”

Damon’s smile was icy, his tone mocking. “Believe what you want.”

Michael took a step back before bursting into loud, mocking laughter. “Damon, are you serious? This has to be the funniest thing I’ve ever heard! You’re the guest they’re entertaining? The CEO of Vespera Corporation and Simon Scott, the big shots, are actually giving attention to someone like you? Someone worthless and poor?”

The crowd surrounding them chuckled, some whispering to each other while others openly laughed. It was like they were watching a comedy show, and Damon was the main act.

Michael crossed his arms. “You think just walking in here with confidence makes you important? Come on. You probably tricked your way in—still chasing after Serena, trying to impress her with that smug face.”

Serena scoffed, flipping her hair over her shoulder. “He always does this. Acts like he’s important, and talks big, but deep down, he’s nothing. A nobody. It’s pathetic.”

The laughter around them grew louder.

Damon, however, remained calm. His face showed no emotion. These people were beneath him, not worth his time.

“Believe whatever you want,” he said coolly.

Serena rolled her eyes, clearly irritated. But suddenly, something clicked in her mind—a memory that she hadn’t thought of, until now since she got here.

The ring.

Her expression darkened in an instant. She turned to Damon, her eyes flashing with fury.

“Speaking of pathetic, “Serena sneered, "Michael, do you know what I found when I was cleaning up this his things?" She spat, her eyes narrowing dangerously.” He’s a cheating bastard.”

Damon blinked, confused. “What?”

Serena took an angry step close, pointing a shaking finger at him. “Don’t play dumb! The ring I saw in your luggage! It’s exactly the same as my friend’s! You’ve been having an affair with her behind my back, haven’t you?”

“That ring? It’s not yours?”

Damon’s eyes widened. His stomach twisted.

He knew exactly which one she was talking about.

It's the other ring from the pair he gave to that girl who saved him.

He kept it in his luggage at her house and had held onto it for so many years.

The only reason he had been so sure that Serena was the girl from back then… was because of that ring.

But now she was saying it wasn’t hers?

Damon’s breath caught. His mind started racing. If Serena never owned that ring, then—

Before he could speak, a loud commotion erupted at the entrance of the restaurant.

A beautiful woman was arguing with security. “Please, I just need a few minutes with the CEO of Vespera Corporation. I have to deliver a project proposal!”

The guard blocked her. “No membership, no entry.”

Serena turned toward the voice, still seething—until her eyes locked onto the woman.

Her expression darkened into pure rage.

“Celia?” she hissed.

The woman froze. “Serena?”

Serena stormed forward, heels clicking sharply. She looked ready to attack.

“You bitch!” she screamed.

Celia blinked, shocked. “What? What are you—”

“Don’t play innocent!” Serena shouted. “I found proof! You’ve been sleeping with my husband! That’s why you’re here, right? To sneak off with him and screw behind my back!”

Celia’s face went pale. “What? No! Serena, I would never—”

“Liar!” Serena shrieked. “The ring! You have the exact same ring as him! The one I took from your house that day! You didn’t even notice! But now I know the truth—you’ve been sneaking around behind my back this whole time!”

Damon's breathing turned ragged. His entire body locked up.

Serena kept screaming, but her voice was a distant echo in his ears.

The ring was hers.

Celia.

She was the one who saved him...

And suddenly—everything made sense. The unease. The doubts. Serena’s betrayal.

His fists tightened.

He had wasted years on the wrong woman.

And the right one… the only one who mattered…

Was standing right there.

Damon inhaled, sharp and steady. His eyes locked on Celia.

"Damon, this is the road to my family’s old house. What are we doing here?" Celia asked, her voice tightening as she recognized the familiar path. Just wait… you’ll find out where we’re going," Damon replied calmly, his eyes fixed on the road.Celia let out a slow sigh. She turned her face to the window, watching the surroundings slip past. They drove by the very spot where she once handed a starving boy a piece of bread, the place where she unknowingly saved his life. A small, bittersweet smile touched her lips as the memories washed over her.Who would have ever thought that boy was Damon, and that she was the little girl who had saved him?Damon’s voice pulled her back to the present, and she turned to face him."I’m glad you still remember this place… because it means everything to me. It’s where I first met you," he said quietly.Celia’s smile wi

Damon got into his car and released a slow breath. It was another day, and he wondered what would happen today, what drama and what problems might come. But he quickly shook the thought away, because no matter what happened, he was going to handle it—or even stop it before it started. He would never let Celia worry again.“Damn it, Anthony hasn’t called me yet,” Damon muttered as he pulled out his phone, ready to dial his number. Just then, it started to ring. It was Anthony.“Damon…” Anthony began. In order not to offend him, he had gotten used to calling him by his name, just as Damon had requested.“I was just about to call you. How is it?” Damon asked.“I needed to make sure everything was ready and perfect before I contacted you. But now it is. All the documents are ready, and everything is officially yours,” Anthony said.“Good,” Damon replied. “I’ll call you if I need anything else.”“Okay, Damon,” Anthony said, and the call ended.“I’m very sure Celia is going to love this, an

Michael pushed open the door to his mother's room. Mrs. Thorne lay propped against pillows, her face pale but alert, what if Serena comes back now? When she saw him, her expression shifted from exhaustion to something harder."Close the door," she said.Michael did, then moved to her bedside. "How are you feeling?""Like someone tried to kill me." Her eyes were sharp despite her weakened state. "Because someone did."Michael's stomach dropped. "What?""That woman. Serena." Mrs. Thorne's hand gripped the bed rail. "She came in here yesterday. I was barely conscious, but I remember. She stood over me. She said something about how I should have treated her better. Then she tried to stab me in the neck, Michael—she tried to kill me...""Mom—""I know what I saw." Mrs. Thorne's voice cracked. “I tried to move, I tried to call for help, but I couldn’t. I could see it in her eyes; she would have killed me if something hadn’t interrupted her. Then I passed out.”Michael felt cold spread throu

  • Chapter 172

Serena sat on the hospital bed, her fingers tracing circles over her still-flat stomach. A smirk played at the corners of her mouth as she watched Michael pack her belongings into a small duffel bag. Everything had changed so fast. Just yesterday, he’d been cold and distant, talking about walking away because he blamed her for what they had both caused. She was glad she didn’t let him. Now he was fussing over her pillows, asking if she needed water, making sure she had everything. All because of the baby. "You comfortable?" Michael asked without looking up. "Yeah." Serena's smirk widened. "Just thinking about how lucky our baby is going to be. Having both of us." Michael's hands paused for just a second on the zipper. "Yeah. Lucky." Inside, he wanted to laugh. Lucky? The kid would be lucky if Serena wasn't around to poison it with her schemes and manipulation. But she didn't need to know that yet. Let her think she'd won. Let her believe the baby had secured her place by his si

"Alexander, I'll do it."Vivienne forced the words out, her throat tightening as they broke out of her mouth.Alexander's finger relaxed slightly on the trigger. "What did you say?""I said I'll do it." Vivienne's voice was hollow now, emptied of everything except resignation. "I'll cut Damon out of my life. I won't see him anymore. I won't talk to him. I'll only speak to women from now on, just like you want."She couldn't look at Damon as she said it. Couldn't bear to see whatever expression was on his face."Vivienne—" Damon started with a scoff."Don't." Her voice cracked. "Please don't make this harder than it already is."Alexander slowly lowered the gun, a triumphant smile spreading across his face. The kind of smile that made Vivienne's stomach turn."I knew you'd make the right choice," Alexander said, stepping toward her. "You see? This is why we're perfect for each other. You understand what needs to be done."He reached out to touch her face, but Vivienne stepped back inst

  • Chapter 170

"What..." Vivienne's voice cracked, her eyes wide with disbelief. "Alexander, what the heck are you saying? Damon never laughed at me. He never disrespected you. You're the one who dragged him into this mess in the first place." She stepped forward, her hands shaking but her words sharp. "So stop making things up, thinking you could hurt him with your accusations and make me hate him. It won't work."But Alexander wasn't listening. His jaw was tight, his eyes dark with something that looked like madness. The kind of madness that comes from a man who's used to getting everything he wants and suddenly realizes he could lose the one thing he truly desires."You said he never disrespected me," Alexander said, his voice dangerously low, "but he just did. Right now. And you didn't do anything about it." He took a step closer to Vivienne, his presence suffocating. "And Vivienne? You of all people know who I am. You know how powerful I am. You know what I can do when someone crosses me."Vivi
