Leon came out from the lake, dragging his soaked body onto the shore. His clothes clung to him, drenched and heavy, as he collapsed onto the ground, water dripping from every inch of him.

“They really do have a habit of tossing people into lakes around here,” he muttered, shaking his head in mild irritation.

His gaze dropped to his waterlogged clothes with a frown, then shifted back to the lake’s surface which was tainted with the blood of a lot of people.

“With all this modern progress, humans still haven’t outgrown the need to kill each other,” he said under his breath.

As he scanned the shadows surrounding him, his eyes locked onto a figure, Jarvis, standing just behind him.

Furrowing his brows, he stood up to his feet, turning to him. “You followed me again, didn't you?”

Jarvis quickly shook his head. “No. I was… trying to protect you, but my guards were useless, and too late. I was told you were killed and thrown into the lake by Victor Marston.”
