At Brookdale Heights Plaza, Leon and Jarvis were welcomed with respect. Security guards flanked them on both sides, but Jarvis waved them off as Leon confidently led the way into the plaza, as if drawn by an invisible thread.

He didn’t need directions, because he could feel it.

They moved through the busy mall until they reached a corner, far from the crowd. There, behind a faded sign reading Authorized Personnel Only, stood a narrow maintenance door which looked unremarkable to any passerby.

Leon’s lips curled slightly.

He pushed the door open and stepped inside. The room beyond was dim, filled with scattered tools, dusty boxes, and the faint hum of old pipes. But Leon didn’t glance at any of it. His steps led him to the far wall, where he crouched and placed a hand against the floor.

Jarvis stood back, watching. All he saw was just concrete.

Leon sighed quietly, eyes narrowing at the wall in front of him. Then he rose and turned to Jarvis. “Step back.”
