Trouble?

Kyle peered at Ottis, finding him strangely familiar. However, he couldn’t quite place where he had seen him before.

Tedmond frowned. He had seen Ottis’s message but hadn’t expected to run into him so soon. He had classes to attend and didn’t want to waste time dealing with him.

More importantly, had Ottis been in the restaurant when he bought it? That would be a problem. If Ottis knew he had enough money to purchase a high-end restaurant, his identity would be exposed—and Griffin would figure it out too.

“I had no idea you became friends with one of Max’s buddies.” Ottis’s voice dripped with amusement, a grin creeping onto his face. “After getting kicked out of the family, are you trying hard to be Max?”

Tedmond rolled his eyes. As if. Why would he ever want to be Max? Even if Max were made president of the entire country, he’d still be the last person Tedmond would want to emulate.

“What the hell are you talking about?” Kyle snapped, his glare fixing on Ottis. The moment he

At the same time,Otis stood at the head of the grand hall, arms crossed tightly as the guards returned carrying the hard drive. His gaze locked on them immediately.“Do you have it?” he demanded. The guards exchanged uneasy glances. They had searched every archive, every backup, but one crucial section was missing.“Yes, sir,” one finally replied, holding out the device. “But… there’s a problem. Some of the footage is gone.”Otis’s eyes narrowed dangerously. He could hardly believe what he was hearing. “Gone? Deleted? By who?”Confusion rippled through the others standing nearby.“What are you talking about?” Frank asked sharply.“What does ‘deleted’ mean?” Tina snapped, irritation flashing across her face. She didn’t even want to believe that “delete” meant exactly what it sounded like.Adeline groaned, rubbing her temples. “Great. I thought this nightmare was over. What the hell is happening now?”Gerald stood silently in the corner, his jaw tight, anger simmering. The guards look

They reached the edge of the garden. Hino walked silently behind them, his sharp eyes scanning the surroundings with calculated calm.Just as Maxine stepped through the stone archway, a voice called from behind.“Maxine.”She turned. Max was striding toward them quickly, his expression tense. Beside him stood a guard she recognized. One glance at Max’s face told her something was wrong.“Max?” she asked, eyebrows lifting. “What is it?”“I need to speak to you,” Max said firmly. His gaze shifted to Neil. “Alone.”Maxine hesitated. “Right now? I’m showing Alicia—”“I’ll have another guard escort her,” Max cut in. He gestured toward the man beside him. “This is Sam. He’ll take Alicia through the rest of the garden.”Sam stepped forward, bowing slightly. “Yes, sir.”Maxine frowned. She didn’t like leaving Neil unsupervised, but Max’s tone left little room for argument. “Max, I don’t think—”“Maxine.” Max’s voice sharpened. “It’s urgent.”After a brief pause, she nodded stiffly. “Fine.” Sh

Murmurs rippled softly through the line of servants. Their eyes darted nervously, each person too tense to remain silent but too afraid to speak above a whisper.“They only gather us like this when it’s about that man… Tedmond,” one maid whispered, clutching her apron tightly. “But he hasn’t been here in months. Why now?”An older maid shot her a sharp look. “Shh. Don’t say his name too loud. You remember what they used to do to him when he caused trouble? If they find out someone helped him this time…”The younger maid swallowed hard, memories flashing back to the last “meeting” like this. Tedmond had been dragged into the hall, beaten, humiliated in front of everyone, then locked away again. They had been forced to watch, powerless to intervene. She had pitied him then. And now, hearing he’d escaped, she couldn’t help feeling relieved.‘If I’d known he was trapped here again, I might have tried to help him too.’Nearby, a footman muttered, “If he really escaped, he’s smarter than we

Lisa couldn’t understand why he was bringing all that up. That was the past. They were married now.Her lips trembled. “Max—”“No. You don’t get to play righteous. Not when you built this whole life by stepping on someone else. You wanted me. You got me. And now you’re acting like I’m the villain for doing whatever it takes to protect what I’ve built?”Lisa’s throat moved as if she wanted to speak, but no words came. She couldn’t think of anything to say. Everything he had thrown at her was the truth.“Stop pretending you’re some wronged, sainted wife,” Max spat. “You made your choices. Live with them.”He scoffed coldly, his lips curling.“You know something, Lisa? If it wasn’t for the fact that you were Tedmond’s girlfriend—the illegitimate son’s only prize—I wouldn’t have even looked at you. You think you were special? No. I just wanted to take the only thing Tedmond had. That’s all you were to me in the beginning.”Lisa’s heart stopped. Her voice was hoarse. “What… what are you ta

Lisa couldn’t believe what she was hearing. When Max had stepped in earlier, she had been relieved, thinking someone would finally take her side. But instead, he sided with Alicia, leaving her isolated and blaming her for something that wasn’t even her fault. He made it seem like she was the one in the wrong. And she hadn’t done anything—she had only scolded the woman for barging into their room, yet somehow she was now the villain.“What’s your problem?” Max asked. He knew it was wrong to scold Lisa, especially when she hadn’t truly done anything wrong. But she should have understood why he did it.Max clenched his jaw as Lisa glared at him, her chest rising and falling sharply. The weight of what he had just done pressed heavily on him.‘I shouldn’t have spoken to her like that. She’s my wife, and she didn’t do anything except react. But I had to. If Alicia storms out now and refuses to return, months of effort will be wasted. I can fix things with Lisa later. I’ll apologize. But ri

The sound echoed off the walls, sharp and loud.Hino, who was next to Neil, was stunned. His brows furrowed in confusion and shock as he looked at Neil. Should he react? Check if Neil was okay? Or… was this part of the plan?Neil staggered, his cheek reddening instantly. He stumbled backward dramatically, throwing himself to the floor as though the impact had nearly knocked him unconscious.“Ouch!” he cried, clutching his face. “You hit me!”At that exact moment, Maxine burst through the door, a glass of water still in hand. She had heard the slap from the hallway and rushed in, only to catch the end of Neil’s fall and see Lisa standing over him, breathing heavily.“Lisa!” Maxine gasped, eyes wide in disbelief. The glass slipped from her fingers and shattered on the floor. “What the hell are you doing?!”Lisa’s chest heaved as she glared down at Neil. “She walked into my room without permission!” she snapped. “She was provoking me!”“She’s a guest!” Maxine shot back, rushing to Neil’s
