Chapter 7: A Fatal Landing on Forbidden Ground

...sending their bodies flying straight out just as the helicopter’s fuel tank exploded into a gigantic fireball against the dark night sky! The wind whipped their skin raw, and gravity felt like it was trying to crush their bones as they free-fell toward the pitch-black ocean surface below.

“ZOLDAAA! HEEEELP! I’M NOT READY TO DIE LIKE AN IDIOT YET!” Navi screamed hysterically, her voice raspy and swallowed by the deafening roar of the wind.

“SHUT UP, NAV! GRAB ONTO ME! SISKA, GET OVER HERE!” Zolda shouted, forcing every ounce of his golden energy out of his pores, forming a sort of transparent energy parachute in mid-air.

“I’M TRYING, YOU MORON! MY HANDS ARE SLIPPERY!” Siska yelled back, her face ghost-pale as she tried to grab the edge of Zolda’s jacket in the middle of their death dive.

Zolda growled, his eyes flashing deep gold. He snatched Navi by the waist with his left hand and grabbed Siska’s collar with his right, mere seconds before they smashed into the water. “HOLD YOUR BREATH! NOW!”

SPLAAAASSSHHH!

Hitting the ocean surface felt like hitting concrete for normal people, but thanks to Zolda’s energy shield, they only plunged a few meters deep. Zolda immediately swam to the surface, dragging the two women who were hacking and coughing up saltwater.

“Cough! Cough! Holy shit... I thought... I was crossing over to the afterlife!” Navi gasped, her messy hair plastering her beautiful face which was now filled with terror.

“Shut it for a second, Nav! Save your breath for swimming to shore!” Zolda looked toward the beach, about five hundred meters away. “Siska, you good?! Don’t pass out now, or I’m leaving you as shark bait!”

“I... I’m good... cough! Damn it, that missile was insane! Arka Wijaya seriously wants to wipe us all out!” Siska tried to regulate her erratic breathing.

“Enough talking! Move it! I sense something’s wrong under this water!” Zolda scanned their surroundings with his Kunao Inner Eye. He could see dozens of heat signatures moving fast beneath the surface, heading straight for them.

“What is it?! What’s down there, Zolda?!” Navi panicked, her legs kicking the water wildly.

“Underwater drone robots! Arka didn’t just send a missile, he sent his mechanical dogs too! Get to land, fast!” Zolda shoved the women’s backs to make them swim faster while he turned to face the open sea.

“What about you, Zolda?! You gonna fight those drones alone?!” Siska turned back with a worried look.

“I said go, so go! You two are just dead weight if you stay! Go!” Zolda snapped, his energy starting to heat up, making the water around him begin to boil.

Navi and Siska had no other choice. They swam as hard as they could toward the dark shoreline. Meanwhile, Zolda dove back into the cold water. Down there, he saw ten small shark-shaped drones with glowing red eyes, speeding toward him.

“Just plastic toys like this? Arka, you’re really underestimating me!” Zolda smirked underwater. He pressed his palms together, compressing his golden energy into a small, super-dense ball.

BZZZZTTT!

One drone fired an electric shot, but Zolda dodged nimbly, moving underwater way faster than any fish. He shot forward and smashed the nearest drone with his palm.

BOOM!

The underwater explosion muffled the engine noise of the other drones. Zolda didn’t stop; he moved like a golden shadow in the dark sea, destroying the drones one by one with a single touch to their mechanical nerve points.

Minutes later, Zolda emerged on the beach, his breathing still steady. He saw Navi and Siska waiting behind a large pile of rocks, shivering from the cold.

“Zolda! You okay?! I thought you were robot chow!” Navi immediately ran and hugged Zolda, not caring that they were both soaked to the bone.

“Ouch, let go first, Nav! Your chest is pressed against me, hard to focus!” Zolda grumbled, though his face flushed slightly.

“Hmph! Still got time to be a pervert in a situation like this! You horny bastard!” Navi released the hug with a sneer, but her eyes looked incredibly relieved.

“Alright, save the lovers' quarrel! We need to find a hiding spot! Siska, you said we’re in Singapore, but what beach is this?! Why’s it deserted like a graveyard?!” Zolda scanned the surroundings, seeing nothing but thick trees and white sand.

“This is a private island, Zolda. Lazarus Island. I have a safe house in the middle of the forest. But the problem is, our comms are totally dead. Arka must have jammed all signals in this area,” Siska explained while wringing out her wet hair.

“Signal dead? So we’re really isolated?” Navi stared at the dark forest in horror. “What if they send ground troops?!”

“Not ‘what if’, Nav. But ‘when’ they arrive. And my gut says... they’re already here,” Zolda squinted his golden eyes. Through his inner sight, he saw bloodthirsty auras hiding behind the trees.

“Come out, all of you! Stop hiding like cowards in the bushes!” Zolda yelled loudly, his voice booming through the silent night.

Suddenly, from the forest darkness, emerged a dozen men in black tactical gear with silenced weapons. In the middle of them stood a blonde man with a scar on his left cheek. He held a silver dagger glinting in the moonlight.

“Amazing... surviving a missile and shark drones. Zolda, your name is really the talk of the town among the elites now,” the blonde man clapped slowly, his voice calm yet deadly.

“Who is it now? Lost insurance salesman?!” Zolda stepped forward, blocking Navi and Siska behind his back.

“My name is Kenji. Captain of the elite ‘Red Viper’ team. Mr. Arka said if I bring your head tonight, I’ll get a bonus big enough to buy a small town in Europe,” Kenji sneered, showing rows of yellow teeth.

“Bonus? Wow, my head’s expensive. Too bad, Kenji, you won’t get to enjoy that bonus because tonight you’re sleeping forever on this island,” Zolda stared at Kenji with a disparaging look.

“You arrogant little shit! Team, finish him! Save the two women for our entertainment!” Kenji gave a brief order.

Pft! Pft! Pft!

Silenced rifle shots sounded like snake hisses. The bullets sped toward Zolda. However, with movements almost impossible for the eye to catch, Zolda simply waved his hand in the air.

TING! TING! TING!

The metal bullets fell to the sand as if hitting an invisible steel wall.

“What?! He parried bullets with his bare hands?!” one of Kenji’s men’s eyes bulged in shock.

“I told you, don’t bring cheap toys if you want to fight me!” Zolda blitzed forward like lightning. In an instant, he was in front of one shooter, slamming his chest with an open palm.

CRACK!

The sound of snapping ribs was sickeningly crisp. The man flew backward, dead on the spot. Zolda didn’t stop; he spun like a deadly top in the middle of the Red Viper team. Every punch meant a life lost.

“Crazy... he really is a monster!” Siska muttered, her eyes glued to Zolda’s efficient and lethal movements.

“That’s my hero, Sis! Look, the blonde guy’s already shaking!” Navi cheered, her fear vanishing replaced by pride.

Kenji, seeing his men wiped out in under a minute, began to panic. He pulled a syringe filled with red liquid from his pocket and stabbed it into his own neck. “I won’t lose to a bum like you! Taste the power of Adrenaline Overdrive!”

Kenji’s muscles suddenly bulged, veins popping out of his reddening skin. He roared and lunged at Zolda with drastically increased speed.

BAAAMMM!

Kenji’s fist hit Zolda’s blocking arm. The impact created a shockwave that kicked up sand around them.

“Oh, doping? Trying to get strong like a construction worker?!” Zolda mocked, though his arm throbbed slightly from Kenji’s suddenly five-times stronger power.

“Shut up! Die now! HRAAAAA!” Kenji launched a barrage of blind punches.

Zolda dodged casually, every move read clearly by the Kunao Inner Eye. “Your punches are strong, but your technique is zero! Watch how to punch properly!”

Zolda caught Kenji’s wrist, then with a light touch to the man’s elbow, he twisted the joint direction until a horrific pop sounded.

“AAAAHHHHH! My arm!!!” Kenji screamed hysterically, his arm now hanging limply at an unnatural angle.

“Not done yet, monkey! Let me fix your anatomy a ‘little’ bit!” Zolda delivered a hard slap to Kenji’s face.

SMACK!

Kenji’s teeth fell out and he spun in the air three times before face-planting into the sand.

“Done. Basic scum, getting cocky after a little dope,” Zolda dusted off his hands, then walked back to Navi and Siska.

“Zolda, you’re so cool! Seriously, I’m fangirling so hard!” Navi immediately rushed and hugged Zolda’s neck again.

“Yeah, yeah, let go! Can’t breathe here!” Zolda grumbled, but this time he didn’t reject the hug.

“Don’t celebrate yet. Kenji was just bait,” Siska suddenly spoke, her face tense again looking out to sea. “Look at that!”

In the distance, three military fast patrol boats appeared, heading straight for their island. The spotlights began sweeping the beach, searching for them.

“Damn, they’re fast! Those aren’t mercenaries, those are Singapore elite forces!” Siska panicked. “Zolda, we have to get into the forest now! The bunker entrance is there!”

“Okay, let’s bounce! Nav, hold my hand! Siska, lead the way!” Zolda pulled Navi’s hand and the three ran into the dense forest.

The patrol boat sirens grew closer, accompanied by another helicopter sound starting to fill the sky. Arka Wijaya really brought everything to end Zolda tonight.

“Where’s the entrance, Sis?! We’re pretty deep in!” Navi asked, panting, legs scratched by tree branches.

“A little more! Behind that giant banyan tree!” Siska pointed to a huge tree with hanging roots.

Once in front of the tree, Siska pressed a hidden stone behind some moss. Suddenly, the ground beneath them shifted, revealing concrete stairs leading underground.

“In! Quick!” Siska pushed Navi in first.

Zolda followed, but right before the bunker door closed, he sensed a massive threat approaching from behind. He turned and saw a small silver projectile speeding toward them.

“GET DOWN!!!” Zolda screamed while pushing Siska in and slamming the concrete door shut.

BOOOMMMM!

A huge explosion shook the bunker. Dust fell from the concrete ceiling. Emergency lights flickered on dimly, creating a very eerie atmosphere.

“Everyone okay?!” Zolda asked in the darkness, coughing from dust.

“I... I’m okay... but my leg is caught in the door!” Navi groaned in pain from the corner.

Zolda rushed to Navi. He saw her right leg trapped in the gap of the concrete door he slammed earlier. Fresh blood flowed heavily, soaking her jeans.

“Shit, this is bad! Siska, help me lift this door!” Zolda tried to pry the door with his physical strength, but it was jammed from the explosion.

“Can’t, Zolda! The mechanism is totally busted! We need a lever or cutting tool!” Siska panicked, searching the tool cabinet in the corner.

“Zolda... it hurts so bad... I feel like my leg’s gonna come off...” Navi cried, face pale from shock and blood loss.

“Quiet, Nav! Don’t pass out! Look at my eyes!” Zolda held Navi’s face, forcing her to look into his golden eyes. “I’m a divine healer, remember? Nothing’s coming off while I’m here!”

Zolda placed his hand on Navi’s thigh. He began channeling pure hot energy to stop the bleeding. Through his Inner Eye, he saw Navi’s fractured bone and pinched nerves.

“I’m gonna do a manual procedure to fix your bone. This is gonna hurt like hell, more than my slap earlier. Hold on!” Zolda bit his own lip.

“Just do it... I trust you...” Navi gripped Zolda’s hand tightly, her nails digging into his skin.

“One... two... THREE!”

CRACKKK!

Zolda pulled Navi’s leg with one strong yank combined with a Qi burst to reconnect the cracked bone. Navi screamed hysterically until her voice gave out, then fainted in Zolda’s arms.

“Navi! Yo, wake up!” Zolda patted Navi’s cheek in panic.

“She fainted from shock, Zolda. Let her rest,” Siska approached with an old first-aid kit. “I’ll bandage the wound. You check the entrance, I hear weird noises outside.”

Zolda stood, breathing heavily. He walked to the partially destroyed concrete door. He pressed his ear against it. From behind the thick concrete, he heard very rhythmic footsteps and clanging metal.

“Zolda... they aren’t normal soldiers...” Siska’s voice trembled behind him. “I saw on the remaining surveillance cam... they’re Arka’s ‘Android Combat’ units!”

“Android? You mean robots?!” Zolda turned, frowning.

“Yes! No pain, no emotion, programmed for one thing: Destroy targets until they’re dust!” Siska showed a small screen with black-and-white footage.

On the screen, ten metal figures with glowing red eyes were cutting the concrete bunker door with lasers.

“Crazy! Arka’s really hell-bent on killing me to send Terminators?!” Zolda snorted. “Okay, if they want to play rough, I’ll show ‘em how to dismantle machines with bare hands!”

“Zolda, you can’t fight them alone in this condition! You drained a lot of energy healing Navi!” Siska grabbed Zolda’s arm.

“So you want us to wait here till those robots slice us up?!” Zolda shook off Siska’s hand. “Listen, Siska. In my book, the best defense is offense. You guard Navi here. Don’t open this door unless I say so!”

“But Zolda—”

“No buts! Give me whatever weapon is here!”

Siska sighed, then grabbed an old katana displayed on the bunker wall. “This is my grandfather’s sword. Made of meteorite steel. Maybe it can penetrate their armor.”

Zolda took the sword, feeling its weight perfectly balanced in his hand. He unsheathed it, and instantly the blade glowed gold as his Qi flowed into it.

“Nice. Meteorite katana, huh? Let’s see how tough these robots’ heads are!”

Suddenly, a small explosion sounded from the door. The concrete finally gave way, and one metal figure stepped in with a hand transformed into a spinning chainsaw blade.

“Target identified: Zolda. Status: Eliminate!” the robot’s mechanical voice sounded cold.

“Eliminate your ass! Come here, scrap metal!” Zolda dashed forward with the sword.

CLANGGG!

Zolda’s sword clashed with the robot’s chainsaw, creating sparks that lit up the dim bunker. Zolda was shocked by the robot’s incredible stability and weight.

“Damn, you’re heavy! What do you eat?! Used oil?!” Zolda spun and slashed the robot’s legs.

SLAASSSHH!

The metal legs were cut clean, but strangely, the robot didn’t fall. From the stumps, tentacle cables shot out and reattached the severed parts instantly.

“What the hell?! It reattached?!” Zolda stared in disbelief.

“They have an instant Self-Repair system, Zolda! You have to destroy the energy core in the chest!” Siska yelled from afar.

“You tell me now, dammit!” Zolda jumped, dodging a slash from the second robot’s chainsaw entering.

Zolda focused all his energy to the sword tip. “Okay, then I’ll make you scrap that can’t reattach! God Sword Technique: Sky Splitter!”

Zolda swung his sword with full power at the first robot’s chest.

BOOMMMMM!

The robot exploded into small pieces, its energy core shattered. But the problem was, the other nine robots were already inside the bunker, aiming arm cannons at Zolda.

“Damn... gang up on me, huh? Robots got no dignity!” Zolda prepared to fight to the death.

Suddenly, from behind the robots, came the sound of very familiar clapping. A young man in a pristine white suit walked through the crowd of robots that suddenly froze.

“Zolda... we finally meet face to face. You truly are more troublesome than I imagined,” said Arka Wijaya with a thin smile, eyeing Zolda coldly.

“Arka Wijaya! Finally out of your hole, Mama’s Boy!” Zolda pointed his oil-stained sword at Arka.

“Mama’s Boy? Hahaha, your mouth needs schooling, Zolda. You know, I could order these robots to crush you instantly. But that wouldn’t be fun,” Arka walked closer, stopping right in front of his robot line.

“So what do you want?! Play chess?!” Zolda challenged.

“I have an offer. Hand over the Kunao Inner Eye voluntarily, and I’ll let Navi and Siska live. I’ll even give you a position as research director at ‘The Empire of Medicine’. Unlimited wealth and power,” Arka offered convincingly.

“Wealth? Power? You think I need garbage like that from someone who tried to kill me repeatedly?!” Zolda spat to the side. “Listen, Arka. Your offer smells worse than your dad’s factory waste!”

Arka’s smile vanished, replaced by a sharp, hateful glare. “So you choose to die here with them?”

“I ain’t dying, Arka. You’re gonna regret coming here without a coffin for yourself!” Zolda took his deadliest stance.

“Is that so? Too bad. I really appreciated your talent,” Arka raised his hand, ready to signal his robots. “Finish him. Don’t leave a single cell!”

The ten robots simultaneously fired lasers from their arm cannons. The bunker lit up blindingly bright from the deadly beams.

Zolda spun his sword with incredible speed, creating an energy shield deflecting all laser shots. “Siska! Take Navi to the safe room in the back! FAST!”

“But Zolda—”

“JUST DO IT, DON’T ARGUE!” Zolda yelled, holding back the increasing laser pressure.

Siska quickly carried the unconscious Navi into a small room with a thick steel door. Once inside, Zolda released his energy shield and dashed at Arka Wijaya.

“My main target is you, Arka! Fight me if you’re a man!” Zolda launched a horizontal slash at Arka’s neck.

But suddenly, Arka vanished and reappeared behind Zolda faster than Zolda himself! He punched Zolda’s back with his palm.

THWACK!

Zolda flew and hit the concrete wall hard enough to crack it. He spat fresh blood, eyes bulging. “What?! You... you have powers too?!”

Arka chuckled while straightening his white suit. “You think you’re the only one with ancient heritage, Zolda? My father spent billions looking for ‘God Gene’ technology to match your Kunao Inner Eye. And guess who’s the first successful test subject?”

“Bastard... so you’re a modified human?!” Zolda stood up, wiping blood from his mouth.

“I am the perfect human, Zolda. You are just historical remnants to be erased. Now, feel true power!” Arka dashed forward, hands glowing dark purple.

Zolda blocked Arka’s punch, but felt his arm go numb as if his energy was sucked out. “Damn... what energy is this?!”

“This is ‘Void’ energy. Energy that swallows all Qi types, including your Kunao Inner Eye!” Arka continued raining heavy, fast punches on Zolda.

Zolda was overwhelmed. Every time he tried to counter, Arka dodged easily as if reading the future. Zolda’s Kunao Inner Eye throbbed painfully, warning of immense danger.

“What’s wrong, Zolda?! Where’s that arrogance?! Why are you getting beat like a punching bag now?!” Arka taunted, delivering a hard kick to Zolda’s stomach.

Zolda flew again, dropping his sword. He tried to focus, but his vision blurred. Damn... this Void energy is wrecking my Qi flow... gotta neutralize it!

“Enough playing. Now, give me your eyes!” Arka grabbed Zolda’s hair and pulled his head back, his glowing purple hand approaching Zolda’s golden eyes.

Zolda felt intense heat in his eyes. He screamed in pain but didn’t give up. In despair, he remembered a secret in the Divine Doctor’s Heirloom book he never tried.

Forbidden Technique: God’s Blood Sacrifice!

Suddenly, Zolda’s heart beat furiously, pumping blood at high pressure throughout his body. All his wounds closed instantly, and his golden aura turned a blinding blood red.

“WHAT IS THIS?! Why can’t my Void energy swallow it?!” Arka was shocked and tried to retreat, but Zolda gripped his hand tightly.

“You said you’re a perfect human, right?! Let’s see how perfect you are when I dismantle you piece by piece!” Zolda stared at Arka with deep red eyes.

Zolda twisted Arka’s arm until bones shattered. Arka screamed, his handsome face filled with absolute fear.

“LET ME GO! ROBOTS, ATTACK! KILL HIM NOW!” Arka screamed in panic to his robots.

The ten robots charged at Zolda, but with a wave of his left hand, a red energy wave obliterated them into dust instantly.

“No one can save you now, Arka! Not even your daddy!” Zolda lifted Arka high by his neck with one hand.

“Please... don’t kill me... I’ll tell you the secret about your birth parents!” Arka begged hoarsely.

Zolda paused. “My birth parents?! You know something?!”

“Yes... they weren’t normal people... they were rulers of...” Arka didn’t finish as suddenly a white glowing arrow shot from the dark and pierced...
