Chapter 1
It was 11:00 AM that morning at Maple City University, and the school was on break after finishing two lectures. A young, handsome man in his mid-twenties, dressed in a shabby, worn-out uniform, emerged from the class, walking through the hallway. The cuffs of his clothes were black, practically noticeable like they hadn't been washed for ages. Despite Charlie Jordan's handsome appearance, the passing students avoided him like a plague, staring at him with disdain. Some spitting out, faces twisted with outer frowns. “That's him. The popular campus trash picker I mentioned earlier. He's probably going to look for bottles to pick so he can sell them and have some money for himself,” one female student said with a cold tone, telling her friend. “Oh, yuck! He looks like it. But how could one feed himself with that?” the latter asked, slightly concerned. “Heard he's working part-time in a bar too.” The passing students were muttering among themselves, their voices filled with disgust, and their faces twitched with disdain. Charlie heard them and he bowed his head in shame, his eyes on the ground as if searching for something as he was heading towards the gate. Ring….ring. An old Android phone started to ring. Charlie paused and pulled out his old, cracked phone from his pocket. He glanced at the strange number and frowned, but he hesitantly picked it up. “Hello?” “Sorry, am I speaking with Young Master Charlie Jordan?” A voice asked calmly with respect from the other line. Charlie furrowed his brows, puzzled. He nodded, “I'm Charlie Jordan, not Young Master,” he replied softly. The man took a deep breath, relieved. “Oh, thank God, it's the right number. Young Master Charlie, if you are less busy, please, make your way to Pinnacle Group. You've got an inheritance to inherit. It just needs your signature put down, that's all.” Charlie looked down at the number and let out a cold chuckle. “Firstly you addressed me as Young Master and now? You're telling me I've got an inheritance to claim,” he said, his face turning into a frown. “Buddy, I'm an orphan. I've been one for decades so which inheritance are you talking about?” “Young Master Charlie, just come to…..” Before the man could complete his sentence, Charlie abruptly ended the call and let out an exasperated sigh while shoving his phone back into his pocket. “These scammers are literally becoming idle nowadays. Instead of learning a skill or getting their hands to work, they sit down looking for whom to scam.” He muttered to himself, sighing again. “He thinks I've got some bucks in my account.” Ring, ring! His phone started to ring for the second time, but Charlie ended it without glancing at it. Letting out the third sigh, Charlie headed toward the gate, and as he saw an empty bottle, a small smile crossed his lips, and he hastened his steps. He knew better than to walk fast, because if he didn't, the man who usually came around to pick up recyclable items might get to it before him. And secondly, it was something he used to sustain himself by earning daily while waiting to get paid at the hotel where he works as a part-time worker. Crunch! Charlie had crouched to pick up the bottle of water when a red high heel stepped on it. Charlie was momentarily taken aback. His eyes followed the figure's slender leg, and his eyes swung wide open. “M—Megan…..you! What are you doing here?”Latest Chapter

Chapter 70 Charlie didn't blink. He pointed, his expression calm. “Him first," he replied. “He got himself involved in what wasn't really his business. He called me names and even threatened to deal with me." Hearing that, the man’s heart skipped. Rick's eyes turned dark. His eyes flicked to the man then back to Charlie, the dark lines in them slowly disappearing. “Any other person?" Rick asked. Charlie glanced around the room, looking at everyone one after the other. Some held their chests, shaking their heads with a pitiful expression as if begging Charlie not to implicate them. Hearts pounded. Finally, Charlie turned to Rick and shook his head. "No, just him.” Beating hearts filled with fear dropped low. A relieved breath escaped their noses. Rick nodded. Without saying a word, he turned and started walking toward the man, his expression calm, but each of the steps he took, depicted a perceived danger. His hand was already balled into a tight fist as he

I want you to deal with him.”Rick didn’t respond immediately. He glared at the man, his eyes getting red with resentment. “Don’t worry I will add $1k to what the bar will pay you.”As he uttered that, Rick’s expression changed instantly.“Who are you and what are you talking about?” Rick asked, his voice cold. The man shivered, his lips slightly vibrating. He had thought it was the bar that had informed Rick after this fool came in to make noises.Reality dawned on him—Rick wasn’t invited. No one from the bar called him. Then who did? His heart raced faster as he tried to wrap his head around the whole thing. However, before he could stammer out an answer, Rick’s hand balled into a fist and he lunged it straight into the man’s face, causing him to stumble backward like one without any stamina. The man grunted h

The man himself let out a chuckle at first, amused by Charlie’s statement. However, his face instantly changed. His face twisted, a dark particle visible in his eyes. “Bastard! How dare you talk back to me?” He grumbled, voice filled with venom. “Alright, let’s see what you can do after I’m done dealing with you.”Hearing that, Duke’s heart skipped, fear immediately gripping him. He rushed forward to beg the man on Charlie’s behalf, but the latter held him and slowly pulled him back, shaking his head slowly.“What do you think you are trying to do?” Charlie asked, his face contorted with a frown. “Beg him? Come on. Let him be. Let’s see what the simp is capable of doing.”His expression was calm, with one hand casually tucked into his pocket as he spoke. Boom! The astonishment in the room grew even louder.Char

Chapter 60Just a minute after Charlie left, Jake walked out of the restroom, exhaling in relief. He adjusted his shirt, eyes scanning the place as he stepped forward. “Where's he?" Jake asked, looking around to see if he could find Charlie. The waitress turned, facing him. “Sir Charlie? He just left a few minutes ago. He received a call—an urgent one—and he had to rush away.”Jake frowned but before he could say anything—“But…” the waitress reached out to the table, grabbing the bag of packaged food that Charlie had instructed her to give to Jake. "Here. He instructed me to give this to you.” Jake didn't hesitate. He took it sharply, but gently, and started glancing inside, taking note of the contents. His eyes widened. "You mean he bought all of this just for me?" He asked, his mouth slightly open. The waitress nodded, confirming. “Yes. And here too." She pulled out the five crisp bills that Charlie had also given her. Subtracting one, she handed the remaining four to Jake.

Following immediately was Jake from the other door, his eyes sharp as they scanned around the place, slightly nodding in admiration.Charlie dug his hand into his pocket and pulled out a crisp $100 bill, handing it to the driver. “Here you go. The fare." The driver, after taking the money, glanced down, his eyes rotating as if they were searching for something, but suddenly Charlie spoke up, his voice calm and his expression unreadable. “Is it the change?" He asked, but before the driver could nod and reply, he simply added, waving his hand in dismissal. “Don't worry, just keep it to yourself." The driver's mouth fell open and his jaw dropped to the ground. “I should keep the change? $60? That's huge! Thank you so much, Sir. God bless you." However, as he was thanking, Charlie had already started walking toward the restaurant building, hurling the bag of his purchased gadgets with one hand. Jake
