Chapter 4
The woman was old, probably in her late sixties. Despite her chubby nature, she was very agile in terms of action. She was no other than Charlie's landlady. “Good afternoon, landlady,” Charlie greeted in a low voice, knowing the reason she was here. It is for her rent. The woman glared at Charlie and pointed her finger at him. “Scrap it, Charlie!” She growled. “I called you earlier and knew why I was calling, but you declined it!” Charlie quickly recalled his phone had rang for the second time after that scammer called him. He rejected it without glancing at it, thinking it was the same person. “I'm sorry, landlady, it wasn't intentional. I didn't know it was you,” he said apologetically. But the old woman gave him a fierce stare. “Keep that aside!” She stretched out her hand as if trying to receive something. “Hand it over. My rent! Where is it?” She demanded, not batting an eye. Charlie swallowed hard, scratching the back of his head. “Landlady, I…..” he started nervously, “I haven't been paid, I swear. Once I get paid, I promise, I'll pay you. Please, give me some extra days. Three or four, I'll run around and make sure to get your money.” “More days?” The woman scoffed angrily. “Aren't you any shame, Charlie? You were supposed to be paying monthly, but you're four months’ rent behind, and considering you're a student, I decided to stay patient, yet you're still demanding extra days.” She jabbed her finger at him. “Three days, you promised. If nothing is done, I'll have your things thrown out.” Charlie looked helplessly as he watched his landlady exit the room with fury. His heart was submerged, hurt that he couldn't do anything. He's been owing three months’ rent and had been begging for mercy; his landlady had been kind enough to always show him mercy, and it hurt him that he couldn't fulfil his promise. Not because he didn't have that money. But he had used it to get stuff for Megan on her birthday wishlist. Turning around, Charlie collapsed again on the bed, completely speechless as he stared at the ceiling, expressionless. Just as he looked fixedly at the ceiling, the silent moment was suddenly disrupted by the sound of his phone. Ding! A message dropped. Charlie reluctantly took it and glanced down at the screen. Boom! His heart skipped when he read the content of the message. ‘Your account number ending with 7580 has just received a deposit of fifty million dollars. Your new balance is 50,000,010. He jumped out of bed and sat up straighter. He was briefly startled, reading the message again, this time, with wide eyes. “Fifty million dollars?” He mumbled, disbelief crossing his eyes. “Is this for real? Who could make such a big mistake by sending such enormous amounts of money to my account?” He paused then shook his head. “No, this must be clickbait." Just right after he dismissed the thought, about to put down his phone, the phone vibrated and started to ring. It was a strange number. Charlie frowned the moment he saw the number. He was a smart person, and he quickly remembered it was the same number that had called him earlier today at school. “What does he want from me?” He said out of frustration. He wanted to reject the call, but then the thought of picking up and giving the caller a severe warning crossed his mind. “Let me show him the other side of me. I think I was so nice to him earlier today.” With that he answered the call, but before he could say a word. The man from the other end started before him. “Young Master Charlie, I just deposited fifty million dollars into your account. Did you receive it?” The man asked with utmost respect.Latest Chapter

Chapter 67“Do you have any appointment with him?” She added.Charlie shook his head. “No, I don’t.”The receptionist scanned him from his head down to his toes, slightly getting irritated. “I’m sorry but you can’t see him,” she responded, her voice carrying finality.“Why?”“That’s because the manager has nothing to do with someone like you.” Her voice was laced with disgust. “He’s a business-minded person so what possible business plan do you want to discuss with him?” Slowly, she pointed toward the exit door as if giving him a piece of advice. “I’ll urge you to kindly use the exit door before security guards do so.”Charlie’s face contorted into a tight frown instantly. Without warning, he slammed his hand on the desk. “I said I want to see the manager and you are asking me to leave?”His nose flared up with anger, fists clenched. “Where the hell is that bastard? I want to see him. Call him here. Now!” He barked out.The receptionist startled, body vibrating at the sudden outburst

Chapter 66Duke raised an eyebrow, clearly not getting what Charlie was saying. “What do you mean? That you’re going inside so the manager can give you back your salary? How?”To him, if the manager should be working in a place like this then he must really be powerful. How then does Charlie intend to get back his salary? He blinked, the whole thing seeming strange to him. “You can’t be serious, are you?” He asked.Charlie nodded firmly. “No, I’m not joking. I’m serious.”His jaw clenched as he started to explain. “I worked hard for that money and I can’t let it go just like that. I won’t let him have it to himself. We deserve to be paid for the work we did.”His voice turned cold. “I will get all the money today and if he dares to act stubborn and not comply then I will be left with no other option but to make him regret it.”There was something dark in his eyes as he said that.Duke saw it and he just looked fixedly. There was something totally different in Charlie. The way he just

Chapter 65 Before she could approach her father, Miller raised his hand, stopping her. “Stop right there!” He warned, his eyes blazing with rage. “What’s all this doing in this house? Occupying space?”“But Dad, that’s one of my items. Just bought it yesterday and you’ve destroyed it,” June burst out, her eyes wet with tears. She knew how much it cost her to get that. And now it has been destroyed in just a blink of an eye. “Why do you have to be doing this to me? Why, Dad?” She sobbed, tears rolling down her cheeks. “Am I your daughter? Why don’t you let me chase my career in peace? Why don’t you allow me to do what I love doing? Why keep interfering?”“Career, you say?” Miller scoffed. “What kind of career is it being a TikToker or whatever you call it? Since you started it, for three to four years or so, what tangible result have you gotten? What can you hold onto? Or is it sitting down or standing up making hell of noises in the house all in the name of going live? What else do

Chapter 64June paused, her pulse racing at the vibration of the voice. She turned around immediately, recognizing the voice. A frown plastered on her face as she took in the figure properly. “He’s back so soon,” she hissed, a hint of annoyance brimming within her. “You didn’t tell me he was coming back too soon,” June leaned and whispered only for her mother to hear. Her mother looked at her and sighed. She shrugged. “Had no idea he was coming back today as well. Wasn’t informed.” She replied with a soft sigh.“Please, don’t cause any scene today. Just do as he says, okay?”June’s brows just knitted, but she didn’t answer her mother a word. Meanwhile, her mother just exhaled, her heaved chest dropping. Finally, she put herself together before striding forward, flashing a warming smile. At the door entrance stood a man in his late forties, dressed in a well-ironed, black suit with a white tie fastened around his neck. He was carrying an office bag in his left hand, his other one

Chapter 63“I doubt if you truly won a lottery, Charlie. Please, be honest.” Duke took a step closer. “I'm your friend, I won't let anyone know about this. What's happening?" He asked, his voice soft and barely above a whisper. His gaze held Charlie's firmly.Charlie didn't blink, his gaze locked in, his mind considering whether to tell Duke the truth or not. “Please, talk to me, Charlie. Everything about you recently changed. What's going on?” Duke added, snapping him from his consideration. Charlie exhaled, finally winking his eyes. “Mmm—” Just as he opened his mouth to answer, a sharp noise erupted in the room, disrupting the moment. It was Charlie's phone that was ringing.Charlie shifted slightly, his eyes darting down towards his pocket. “Please, excuse me. Got a call."Duke didn't say a word as he watched Charlie gently reach his finger into his pocket, pulling out his phone. Pulling it out, Charlie glanced briefly at Duke before finally swiping the screen up. “Hello? Wh

Charlie pointed as he addressed Duke. “Sit right here, I'll be back.” He made Duke sit down on his bed before walking toward his worn-out cupboard to retrieve something.Just a few minutes later, Charlie returned, carrying a nylon bag. He sat beside Duke, who was excitedly browsing through his new phone. He gave a soft smile as he observed Duke's expression. “Seems like you're in love with your new phone already." Duke looked up. “Definitely!" He nodded. “It's a nice device and I'm glad everything happened the way it did. Because that Samsung phone of mine was showing some faulty signs." His gaze then scanned the room, concern and worry in his eyes as he set down his phone on the bed. "Charlie,” he called softly."Yes.” Charlie raised an eyebrow, holding his gaze.Duke shifted closer to him. "I'm sorry you're living in a place like this," he started, his voice carrying emotion.
