Chapter 9
Charlie couldn't move, his eyes narrowing. “You can't be serious, are you?” He asked, stunned by Donald's seriousness. “I'm serious, young master Charlie!” Donald clarified. “You're inheriting everything. Just your signature is needed and everything will automatically become yours.” “Wait a minute. Are you sure about this?” Charlie couldn't help but remain skeptical. This thing has only happened in movies that he had once watched. He hadn't heard of such a thing happening in real life. And now…..this? It was like a dream. No, it can't be real! “Absolutely!” Donald nodded. “You have nothing to be afraid of, and you aren't daydreaming. Everything is real. You're inheriting everything.” Donald opened the file placed on the table and pulled out a document. “Here, come and sign. Don't be afraid.” He urged with a soft chuckle sensing Charlie's reluctance. Charlie winked, staring at the man. He isn't serious, is he? He muttered to himself, but then reluctantly stepped forward. He grabbed the pen, willing to sign to know if it was really true. Without reading the content, he signed the document and Donald clapped with a congratulatory voice. “Congratulations, young master Charlie! You've automatically become the heir of late Mr. George White's assets, which are worth over thirty trillion dollars, and also the chairman of Pinnacle Group.” “What did you just say? His assets are worth over $30k trillion and I've become the heir?” Charlie asked, stuttering when he heard that. Donald nodded. “Yes, that is what it is worth. Congrats once again, young master.” He bowed his head in respect. “Yes, that reminds me, according to the late Mr. George, the troubles of the wealthy are far more than the poor, but the world doesn't know. So, I'll advise you now that you inherited everything, that you shouldn't reveal your true identity to anyone. Stay low-key. Be down to earth. And if you must take revenge, do it in a way that no one will be suspicious of you.” Charlie nodded in understanding. On his own side, he wasn't ready to reveal who he truly was now. He would take his revenge on everyone who had humiliated him in disguise. Just then a thought struck Charlie. He looked at Donald and asked. “I have become the heir just like that? Is there anything expected of me to do?” Donald shook his head. “Absolutely nothing.” “So, can I now go ahead and start using the wealth?” “Yes! As much as you want, young master Charlie.” After Donald carefully placed the document back in a safe place, he turned around and said, “I'll escort you downstairs.” Charlie declined politely. “You don't need to. When I entered you seemed to be busy with some stuff, I guess you continued with it. I'll find my way out.” With that, Charlie turned around and walked out the door. Downstairs, the senior security guard stood in front, holding and staring down at his walkie-talkie, anticipating Donald's call, but none was coming. He couldn't help but wonder what was going on upstairs. However, his heart didn't panic. On the 30th floor, there was just one office belonging to the General Manager, and there was no other way out, so it was certain the young, pathetic man had nowhere to go. “You've got to go upstairs right away before that young man does something bad to Mr. Donald!” Sarah, dressed in another outfit, shouted at the senior security guard. “Take your men and move! Mr. Donald might be in danger.” The senior security guard blinked, realizing Sarah was on point. That young man might be an assassin and who knows what he must be doing with Donald upstairs. Thinking that way, he turned to the other security guards and ordered, his voice deep and firm. “Follow me.” But then…. Crack! The elevator's door swung open, revealing a figure. Heads turned. Recognition flashed through the earlier receptionist's eyes and she shouted, pointing toward the elevator. “That's him! He's the pathetic loser of a guy! Get him and break his legs!” “Yes! Grab him! Break his bones too! And one person should rush upstairs to check up on Mr. Donald!” Sarah supported. Security guards charged toward Charlie and lifted him, pulling him downstairs. Dozens of security guards surrounded him, and he stood in their midst, clearly embarrassed. “Now is the best opportunity. If I were Miss. Sarah, I'll deal with him first before letting the security guards do their job,” someone from the crowd said “Correct! He humiliated her as if they were in the same class.” Hearing those words, Sarah's chest pulled out, pride creeping in. Before anyone could bat an eye, she walked into the middle and gave Charlie a resounding slap. Smack! The sound echoed across the room, almost deafening. Charlie clutched his cheek and winced, the pain felt. He looked at Sarah with disbelief. “B—but I apologised for what happened. Why did you slap me?” Sarah's expression was cold. “Oh, shut up! Do you think you can come in here and humiliate me the way you did without getting punished, huh? Do you even know who I am? I'm Sarah Lucas, the Manager and third in command of this place and you dare humiliate me? You should even be happy that my neat hand is touching your filthy face!” Before holding back, she slapped Charlie the second time with her backhand. “That's for not apologising properly?” “And for causing a scene here…..” She raised her hand to slap Charlie again, when a voice roared with trembling from behind. “Sarah, what the heck do you think you're doing? Have you gone crazy?” Sarah froze at the recognition of the voice, her hand hanging in the air.Latest Chapter

That's the guy I told you about—the guy who saved me from harassment today.” She extended her hand, taking the phone from her mother. As she glanced down at the screen, she nodded in confirmation. " Yeah, he's the one. Guess, he called to confirm if I'm back home safely.”“Oh, I didn't know that or I should have thanked him properly," her mother replied. Then she stepped forward, reluctantly placing her hand on June's shoulder before adding, "J—June, I think Charlie's a good person. W—Why don't you give him a chance?” June narrowed her eyes at her mother, blinking in perplexity and disbelief. “What are you talking about, Mum? You don't even know him just yet and you're concluding he's a good person?” She felt a pang of disappointment. "Besides, we're just getting to know each other, so how could you possibly say I should give him a chance?”June knew her single life had been a burden to her parents, especially her mother. She wanted her to be in a

We both met at the restaurant today, remember?” He reluctantly added. "You didn't save my contact?”There was a brief pause from the other end. "Hello June, are you still there?” Charlie asked."I'm sorry, but this isn't June. It is the mum. What do you want?”Charlie shifted immediately on the bed, his heart almost skipping. He hadn't noticed it wasn't June. She and her mother shared a similar voice. He quickly checked the time. Although uneasiness settled in his chest, he managed to stay composed. “What did you see?" He asked. The bodyguard nodded vigorously, “I saw some—something,” he replied, his voice trembling with certainty. "I saw him holding a small black object. I—I think it's a g….gun. Pistol.”The butler's breath hitched immediately. He didn't have to argue because everything had been obvious from the start. Right from the way Mr. David, his boss, asked him about Pete with a stern face. But why would he want to kill his only son? A doubt slightly crept into his mind.He raised his eyebrows, glancing at the bodyguard with a questioning look. “Are you sure about this?" The latter nodded. "Yes. I'm very sure about what I saw."
