Chapter 3

Chaos erupted inside the store. Sarah and Reinard were immediately apprehended by security and prevented from leaving.

“What are you doing?” Sarah struggled against their grip, trying to break free but failing. “Let me go! You’ve gone too far!”

“If you don’t let us go, you’re going to be in trouble for treating customers like this!”

Reinard shot a sharp glare at everyone around them, but the men dressed in black simply stared back at him coldly.

“You’re thieves.”

A woman who appeared to be the store manager approached them.

She immediately took Sarah’s bag and searched through it with a stern expression. A moment later, she pulled out a bracelet.

“What?” Sarah was stunned. She quickly shook her head while struggling against the guards. “No, no. I didn’t steal it.”

“Reinard, they’re accusing me!” Sarah screamed.

But the security guards only tightened their grip on her, roughly restraining her until she could no longer shout and could only grimace in pain.

“This bracelet was found in your bag. You stole it.”

Reinard remembered that Sarah had indeed touched the bracelet earlier, but he never expected her to steal it.

“You’re accusing her without proof. Let us go. We had no reason to steal it because we can afford to pay for it.” Reinard glared at the manager.

He wasn’t frightened in the slightest. He held his head high, refusing to back down.

“Get them off us. I can pay for the bracelet without stealing it, damn it.”

With nothing more than a glance from the manager, the guards restraining Reinard released their grip, though they continued watching him closely.

Seeing Reinard immediately take out his wallet and pull out his card, Sarah’s face brightened.

“We don’t need to steal anything. We can pay for it. And just wait—you’ll be facing a series of complaints because of this.”

The manager’s expression remained flat. In this store, she wasn’t going to blindly believe anyone’s words.

“If you really can pay for it.”

“Uh, of course I can pay for it, and you’ll see just how humiliating this place is. I’ll report you to the police for falsely accusing us.” Reinard scoffed.

He immediately handed over his card when the salesgirl brought out the payment terminal. His heart was still pounding in this humiliating situation, and he wanted to get back at all of them.

“Transaction declined. You cannot make a payment with this card.”

Reinard’s expression immediately changed when he heard the salesgirl’s words. Without realizing it, his hand grabbed the woman by the collar.

“Don’t mess with me!”

There was no way his card couldn’t pay for a small bracelet that had caused them to be accused of theft.

“Check it again.” Reinard ordered her.

The salesgirl processed the payment once again, under pressure.

“Declined, sir.”

A long, angry hiss escaped Reinard. He could no longer endure this humiliating situation. He immediately snatched the payment terminal from the woman’s hand and repeatedly pressed his card against it.

Reinard’s eyes darted around.

“No… Why isn’t it working…? No…”

Cold sweat broke out across Reinard’s body, and he felt his entire body growing cold. He should have been able to pay for it, but now the card seemed completely useless.

The manager scoffed with a mocking smile. “See? You can’t pay for it. You’re nothing but a fraud.”

“It’s your machine’s fault!” Reinard shot back, panicking but still desperately trying to hide it.

“Drag them to the police station. They stole a five-thousand-dollar bracelet and still have the nerve to act so arrogant!”

Her voice rose as she shouted the order. Her command not only prompted the store’s security guards to immediately drag them away, but also left Reinard and Sarah completely stunned.

Neither of them had expected the small bracelet placed inside Sarah’s bag to be worth five thousand dollars.

“I’ll call Owen! I’ll ask him to get us out of this!” Sarah yelled as she was dragged away in front of the many people watching them.

She tried to retrieve her phone from inside her bag, but the guards roughly took the bag away, leaving neither Sarah nor Reinard any chance to escape.

While they screamed and struggled, Owen was watching the entire scene from a distance, completely relaxed.

A faint smile appeared on his face as he watched his plan unfold exactly as he had intended.

He knew their habits. Reinard had once asked him to get a credit card for him. Yes, the card was under Owen’s name, and Reinard used it however he pleased. Before going with them on the trip, Owen had already asked the bank to block the card.

“You need to stay there.” Owen’s hands clenched tightly, filled with emotion.

Throughout the journey, he received countless phone calls, but Owen completely ignored them. He immediately went inside his house and locked the doors so no one could get in. For the next two days, he could hear them shouting and searching for him, but Owen ignored it all.

While he went about his daily routine, a notification suddenly appeared before him.

[Congratulations! You have successfully survived for two days.]

“What? A reward?” His eyes widened as he read the information.

“I get this too?” Owen watched as another notification appeared, a look of delight crossing his face.

At the last notification he read, Owen immediately covered his mouth in disbelief.

“You’re giving me this much money too…? Is this even possible?” He thought it was completely absurd.

Not only had he suddenly obtained a system and discovered that he possessed divine blood, but he had also survived an attempted murder by the people closest to him. And now, he was getting richer by the minute.

It all seemed impossible. But then a notification appeared on his phone, making Owen’s eyes widen.

The message stated that fifty million dollars had just been deposited into his bank account.

“Damn! I’m really lucky.”

Owen’s happiness was suddenly interrupted when he heard a loud voice shouting from inside the house.

“I know you’re in there! Get out here right now!”
