“N-No… that’s impossible.” Wales stared at Helena in shock.

He shook his head, lightly tugging at his own hair.

“There’s no way a woman like you would want Owen. You must be lying.”

Helena continued to hold Owen’s arm, a sweet smile on her face.

“Owen is a kind and wonderful man. Anyone would want to be with him.”

Everything about this was a surprise to Owen. He listened carefully to her words but never expected her to defend him. The two of them weren’t even in a relationship. This was the first time they had met.

“I guess I’m lucky I broke up with Sarah,” Owen finally said.

Wales was completely bewildered. He had never expected something like this to happen. Just a few days ago, he still remembered how Owen had apologized to his sister.

Owen had been willing to do anything because he loved Sarah.

Wales quickly realized that he was about to lose his source of money as well. Panic flashed across his eyes as he looked at Owen again.

“You shouldn’t be acting so arrogant. If you keep this up, Sarah won’t forgive you.” He glanced at Helena.

“Miss, you should leave him. This man already has a girlfriend,” he explained, forcing a smile.

The more Wales looked at the woman in front of him, the more attracted he became to her. He was already thinking about how he could get her attention. He imagined having a woman like her by his side and thought that perhaps he could take advantage of her too.

“I’ll treat you to a drink. Just forget about him. He’s nothing but a liar,” Wales complained.

Wales wasn’t very patient. He immediately stepped forward and almost grabbed Helena’s hand.

At that exact moment, Owen slapped his hand away.

“What are you doing?” Wales stopped for a moment, clutching his hand tightly as he tried to suppress the pain he had just felt.

“Damn you, Owen. How dare you treat me like this? You’ve really become so arrogant just because Sarah accepted you,” Wales said sarcastically, his voice sharp.

“You really have the nerve to say that?” Owen sneered slightly. “Aren’t you the one who’s become shameless after taking money from me all this time?”

Wales stared at him for a moment. Owen seemed much braver than usual, and for some reason, Wales also found him intimidating.

His fists clenched.

“Miss, he’s a rude man. You’d be better off coming with me.”

Helena laughed, looking down at Wales with a disdainful gaze. The look in her eyes was enough to make any man feel humiliated.

“I wouldn’t want to be with a loser like you,” Helena mocked.

Her words only made Wales angrier. He no longer cared about Helena’s beautiful face.

“You must be some cheap whore. How dare you talk to me like that?”

He raised his hand and swung it toward Helena’s cheek.

Owen caught his wrist and punched him in the face, sending Wales crashing to the ground.

Owen immediately looked down at him coldly. The chilling intensity in his gaze left Wales frozen in place.

“How dare you call me a cheap whore?” Helena said coldly.

Her face flushed red. She couldn’t accept the insult she had just received. In her entire life, she had never been insulted like this.

She had never actually wanted to flaunt her status, but the foolish man in front of her had been getting on her nerves from the very beginning.

Then she stepped forward, her expression cold and her jaw tense.

“I’m Helena Lockwood. Do you really think someone like me can be bought by just anyone?”

Wales’s eyes widened, his mouth falling open.

“Lockwood…? Lockwood? No way…”

Panic began to rise within him. The arrogance that had filled his expression moments ago suddenly vanished, leaving his face pale. His gaze became unfocused as he repeatedly turned the name over in his mind, fear taking hold of him.

He thought frantically before slowly looking back at Helena.

He struggled to stand, nearly losing his balance. When his eyes shifted back to Owen, he shook his head.

“You can’t be a Lockwood… There’s no way the Lockwoods would know a lowlife like Owen!” he shouted.

Owen cleared his throat. “She really is a Lockwood.”

“No. She’s not a Lockwood. You’re lying, Owen.” He pointed at Owen as he shouted. “Just wait. I’ll tell Sarah about this, and you’ll see what happens to you.”

Owen merely raised his hand, causing the man in front of him to immediately shut his eyes. He then took a step back before turning around and storming away from Owen.

“I’ll make you pay for this, Owen!”

That was when Owen realized just how weak the man who had always caused trouble for him really was. He should never have allowed that man to take his money and use him all those years.

Owen sighed before glancing at Helena.

“I’m sorry for dragging you into something like this.”

Helena clicked her tongue softly. “You really do surround yourself with troublesome people.”

Hearing Helena’s words, Owen nodded. He agreed with her. Unfortunately, it had taken him far too long to realize it.

“Thank you for your help, Miss.” Owen sincerely expressed his gratitude.

Helena smiled, sincerely accepting Owen’s thanks. Then she gently patted him on the shoulder.

“Didn’t you help me earlier too?” she said kindly.

Owen was slightly captivated. The woman he had only just met treated him with such genuine courtesy. He had never been treated this kindly by the woman who used to be his girlfriend.

“So, does that mean I don’t need to come to your company?”

Helena immediately shook her head.

“You still have to come. You must.”

To Owen’s surprise, the woman moved closer to his ear.

“Because there’s something I want to give you, and I need your help.”

He had driven them out, but Owen knew very well that he wouldn’t be able to get rid of them that easily. Looking around his house, he realized there were still plenty of ways for them to cause trouble. The house might not have been particularly luxurious, but it was the only thing his parents had left behind, so Owen had decided to protect it.That afternoon, he put on his hoodie and quickly left the house, getting into the ride-hailing car he had booked.“We’ve arrived at Grand Sky Mall, sir,” the driver said several minutes later.Owen looked outside. The car had stopped, and he had arrived at the mall. After making the payment online, Owen immediately got out. He quickened his pace toward a place called Sentinel Security Center (SSC).A young man at the front desk looked at him.“How may I help you, sir?”Owen immediately explained what he wanted.“I want the best surveillance cameras you have, along with the most advanced security system.”The young man wrote down Owen’s request b
